That slide ramp looks just like my front slide in a 2008 GulfStream T40. The only difference it that the bottom of my slide didn't have skids all the way back and relied on that woven fabric to "glide" on. The fabric was basically destroyed. I had to replace about a 6" section of the ramp(1/4" thick UHMW) on each end where it was worn thru and I added a roughly 2'x4' sheet of 1/16" polyethylene to the slide bottom anchoring it with 1/8" aluminum strips at each end wrapping it inside and the leading edge. I heated the "hook" to get the bend I needed. I have pictures if you are interested AZ Expert.

when I was a truck mechanic we used the same nylon shoes but they came premade prefilled they were on the log bunks on log trucks and trailers. log bunks are the u shaped steel that the logs rest on in-between and as the truck turned they turn so it's 10,000 + pounds of weight on them . they last year's but when they where out a couple days of running without them tears up the steel so bad they need to be replaced like brake drums when the shoes get worn to metal and driven 500 mile

That plastic looks like UHMW we use it a lot in industrial machines it’s just oil impregnated plastic. It cuts very easy with a circular or table saw

Monaco definitely had a unique design on their slide, especially their flat floor design with the guide shoe and UHMW (Ultra High Molecular Weight) slide material. As for adhesives, you should try some 3M 5200. It is heavily used in the marine industry and a great adhesive/sealant. If you run into a lot of issues with the floors on the slide check our Guardian Plates by Talin Industries. I've installed a few of them and they are a great product for Monaco products and Chris @ Talin is great to deal with. Great video and solution. Mike

These are electric with bad worm drive that lacks bearings or thrust washers to keep the locks from binding. They were such a bad design that they only existed for one model year.

If your slides will be left open for long periods, it would make sense to use uv-resistant UHMW. I've only seen it in black, but it might be available in the natural color also. They claim 3x durability compared to normal UHMW in outdoor applications.

Looks like a big gap above the guides you replaced , wouldn’t you have water running down an rotting the plywood, or is there a strip that goes on that
@AZExpert4 жыл бұрын
along the side there is a built in gap more like a drip rail. Many current slides have molding at the bottom but it usually creates a guttes directing water inside. Monaco changed the design to prevent that. Thanks

@DoRC2 жыл бұрын
Those slides are most likely UHMW polyethylene. That's generally what is used in situations like this. They're not Teflon because Teflon is basically non-reactive to everything and would not degrade in UV. It's possible there's something else but probably UHMW

I have a 2020 Winnebago Micro Minnie with 25 gal grey and black 31 fresh . Now my question is..How accurate are these holding tank sensors. Brand new dumped the tank maybe 5 times , but after I wash out the tank and add 3 Gallons of clean with the chemicals my gauge shows 1/3 full, with 3 gallons? Are the gauges to be used as a rough guide or should they be very accurate. Thanks Any input would be appreciated, I'm a first time buying and traveling in these? Unit is level too and the tanks showed empty when I started the fresh fill.

@AZExpert4 жыл бұрын
There is RV code. It of course is the minimum standard, but the RVIA has a standard which in general follows most minimum home standards and of course the DOT has mandates including recalls. Many have to meet certain state requirements to be sold, but I do know what you mean.

In 1974, we brought an east-coast travel trailer to California on a military transfer of our family. We decided to sell the trailer in CA, but could not because of enhanced electrical and plumbing codes CA demanded for RVs bought and sold in CA. Husband rewired and plumbed the trailer, it passed inspection, and was sold. A reno feat unheard of at that time, and out-of-state RVs were towed back across the CA/Nevada or Arizona border to be sold. Even the inspector was surprised. Did not cost much as was self done. So, RV codes were in effect even then.
