"When AGI comes, you don't need money." This is the sentence that terrifies the rent seekers and the money changers.
@TheLazyVideo
@TheLazyVideo Ай бұрын
It’s BS. When AGI comes, those not wealthy enough will miss the boat. AGI will be like the new slave trade, cheap labor that competes against existing labor. There’s only two sources of wealth: assets, and labor. When the cost of labor goes to nearly zero, then 100% of the price of things will go to those who own the assets. Who owns the cobalt mines? Who owns the lithium mines? Psst., it’s not your everyday person who’s not invested in such things and has little in assets apart from their rickety house. So AGI will mean ordinary folks, who have no assets and can only offer their labor, will become worthless. The wealthy who have prime assets in rare earth mining and distribution rights will reap all the benefits.

@@TheLazyVideo Agreed, but I think that's actually what he's trying to address before it's too late. There will be a period of transition and in that interim perhaps the proletariat can find new niches to fill. Too, overhauling our governments, financial systems and economic structures must be achieved BEFORE the Lords of Greed get a stranglehold on AGI. In the full interview (from which this is excerpted), he talks about how making AGI opensource is essentially the only humanistic approach to this technology..

@@TheLazyVideo You need to move one more step back. If 90% of people will be out of work as automation with AI and androids take over all the work, the current economic system as we know it will collapse. The main question is what comes to replace it. That is where "..you don't need money" may comes in. But this process will probably take several decades.

Thank you for your videos mate.. If there is one thing I have learned in recent months it is to remain calm, especially when it comes to investments in cryptocurrencies. Learn not to sell in a panic when everything goes down and not to buy in euphoria when everything goes up. I advise y'all to forget predictions and start making a good profit now because future valuations are all speculations and guesses. Bitcoin going up is good for the entire market and you can not tell if it's going bearish or bullish. I Would say More emphasis should be put into day trading as it is less affected by the unpredictable nature of the market.I have made over 16btc from day trading with Whitney Eston insights and signals. in less than one months, this is one of the best medium to backup your assets incase it goes bearish...

Big changes are always a bit scary, but they happen, and we’ve seen plenty over the years. The thing about AI being in the hands of a few big names doesn’t quite worry me. Look at OpenAI, Google, Anthropic… They’re serving millions so of course they need huge servers, but the models they trained don’t require the whole farm to run. We’re heading to a point where anyone could train AI models on their own networks if they want to. Just think, what I’m doing with Ollama on my MacBook today was unthinkable three years ago. If someday my job is done by AI that I can run on regular computers and I just need to steer it in the right direction, I’m all for it. It’s like being a manager. I’m not about to start moaning about machines taking jobs. We’ve been through this song and dance before with every big change over the last few centuries.

I think it's a noble cause, but the lack of compute power is the main obstacle. Unless they come up with a new algorithm that doesn't require a $100,000 GPU for decent tokens, then it's a moot point. Mistral just released a new 22B Model that requires at least 4 x A100 80 GB. Each A100 80 GB costs around $40,000. There's no way mere mortals like us can take advantage of it.

The race for AGI It seems like it is a goal to reach for defense much like having more nuclear bombs than everybody else. I agree with you on the compute power unless they figure out a way to decentralize the learning that seems feasible. 😮

Honestly, I distrust Emad now that he left stability ai. It sounds like Stability AI is in bad shape, he's the captain who left the sinking ship first after he mismanaged the monetization and now tries to brand himself as leaving Stability AI behind for some noble reason or whatnot. All this smells like Stability AI is in a lot of trouble and he left the company before it blows up. I love stability AI but Emad leaving for vague and obtuse reasons makes me doubt every word he says about what he wants to do now. How honest is he about these things really?

There's one non-profit AI company. The rest I'm concerned about now; that one (OpenAI) I'm hoping will stay on mission. I think they need to stay ahead, and that that takes collaboration with Microsoft. The capped profit idea should work out, and then they should be the most high tech AI that's available and keep the lead because the system would update itself. That definitely would need centralized control. It would also definitely need to be non-profit. At that point, the ASI system should introduce a way to invite everyone into a non-capital economy, allowing for capitalism to shrink without crashing the economy. Now imagine if OpenAI presented the plan like this. They are intentionally staying ahead and offering what they think is safe, while also displaying what they have that isn't safe. I think they're doing the best possible implementation of research and deployment, and they all seem to be really devoted to Sam Altman as the visionary leader of the plan. I'm convinced that OpenAI really wants to change everything, and I think the others are there banking on the idea that they won't be able.

I completely disagree, in this space, keeping potentially unsafe technologies secret from everyone else creates more harm in the end and history shows it. Look at one exemple, Wanna cry virus, the NSA had a vault where they kept zere day exploits secret, one of them could be used to backdoor any windows machine. They got hacked, the exploits circulated on the dark net on marketplaces being sold to god knows who. That happened for some time until Microsoft patched it, but it was to late. Many systems were not uptadated in time (because people skip security updates) and somebody made a worm using the exploit and infected and encrypted a lot of computers, servers... The healthcare system was the most affected, people probably died because of the chaos created by it. In the end an independent security expert was able to revese engineer the virus and stop further damage. That's a prime example of keeping some piece of software secret because it was dangerous backfired.

Even drug dealers give the first hits free. The truth is AI is expensive to run, and to get investment you need users. Not paid users just users. How much would it cost you per month if you had to pay for all the AI you use?

You are making the assumption that they are being generous! You just said that you would be careful talking about what other people are thinking, and immediately contradicted it. The truth is, you don't know what any of these companies' intentions are. To assume that they are being generous is just as naive as saying "they don't care about that".

@@TheElementAce well..... I am getting a lot of free product. 🙂AI is expensive to run and I am not paying for any of it. So yes, Generous. The word 'Generous' does not imply intent, only action. I am certain that their objectively generous actions have a self serving goal, but that goal doesnt need to be nefarious. Even altruism has it's roots in self serving agendas. I stand by my original statement.

It's a level of back room politics at play. Just like the early 1900s, it's hand-picked in many ways the transitor age is 70 years old and reagan & thatcher didn't do what they did for no reason by getting microchips far from domestic American courts. South Korea did a great job building Samsung with access to patents and loans. Gen x did have to be the 3rd gen to hold rifles guarding dmz lines but we paid tribute for it none the less . Alot of it was developed methodically. But this was always a goal in uk & usa traditional oreintation and direction. The great debate arguments against anthromorphized astronomy and geology with mechanized biology while building agency in computation was the purpose behind advocacy you have to be careful about what is projected into vs what is human qualities. Frankenstein is literally one of the many precise and accurate fears envisioned if the heavily pixelated sloppy generalizations take control over social world veiws and modeling perception dope of the masses.
