No, if you desire a major dist, make sure to lawyer up and have the lawyer make terms you provide. ;) if the major dist does not like your terms or you dislike theirs you go back and forth till you reach an agreement.

I recently watched an interview with Van Halen talking about this sort of thing. After they finished their first tour, supporting their first album, David Lee Roth recounts how their label insisted the band owed them $2 million. Despite the large amounts of album sales, all of the sold-out concerts and merchandise that Van Halen sold, somehow they were indebted $2 million to their record label. Roth quickly talked some sense into the record company and, I think were no longer in debt.
