To be fair there really aren't that many unknowns in vape liquid. Here are the ingredients: propylene glycole, vegetable glycerin, nicotine (if applicable) and flavoring. The issue here is the way flavors and fragrances are allowed to be labeled on ingredient lists, and it's just that, you only have to say "flavor" and/or "fragrance" you don't need to go into ANY kind of detail of what makes up a flavoring or scent. That needs to change. This applies to "regular" vape juice and not the ones that promise vitamin or therapeutic benefits.

I've been vaping nicotine since 2018 and never got any sort of pneumonia or lung disease. It's only through smoking that I got asthma. In the news at least in the USA and Canada if you look up the reports from people that got vaping related illnesses they got it from sketchy cannabis products that contained vitamin e which was never present in nicotine vaping. I must say even though vaping is more safer does not mean that it's safe because nicotine addiction is a thing.

I think this happens because people vape more frequently than smoking cigarettes. Vapers are constantly chugging on the vape not really aware of how often they’re doing it cos it’s ‘safe’. I think smoking 10 cigarettes a day is probably just as damaging as vaping constantly throughout the day
@mspaint932 жыл бұрын

The driver had a suspicion that they tricked her and since my stop is the last stop, I told her that they don’t get off of there. (I know that it would had been a better choice for me to tell the driver sooner but I fear that I will get beaten by those people and their friends). Seriously don’t know how the kids here are getting these drugs and vapes but they better stop. It’s not cool to do those stuff and there will be a high chance of consequences later on in life. Coils and filters are supposed to be changed regularly and juice is often overlooked on expiration dates. Especially from unauthorized dealers,smoke shops etc. Fact is vaping is LESS harmful than smoking a cigarette because vapes don’t contain fillers such as tars,traces of poisons, and it’s a dry fire smoke compared to a vape which is a liquid smoke. Vapes CAN be harmful when not properly used or taken care of.

Considering that, if people are buying used or second hand vapes and accessories under the table could be the cause of. I even have purchased juice directly from a smoke shop(mainly selling weed/tobacco products) but I needed juice. Well they probably had that juice sitting on a shelf for so long because none of their daily shoppers come in for vape stuff. It was almost 6 months expired. I always check expirations. There are substances in cleaning products and cosmetics (sneakily labelled as 'fragrance' despite containing over 200 chemicals and often carcinogenic phthalates) that ruin our immune system. They also trigger responses like MCS. Being in a steam room a lot of the time wouldn't be good for you either, but as this doctor attests, mysterious chemicals are the main concern of theirs.

I worked for a vape company and they were saying vape liquid is safe because it's made of glycerin, but glycerin vaporized in the lungs has not been studied. My colleagues were making wicks with silica and the little particles were like needles on their fingers, and that's the part you light to create the vapor.
@kaonashii.2 жыл бұрын
Glycerin is a thick viscous humectant. Humectants attract water. If people are inhaling glycerin into their lungs, it’s causing liquid to accumulate there which can lead to infection, lung collapse, difficulty breathing, etc. 😳 Damnnnn
@ezura47602 жыл бұрын
This is only applicable to those using ecigs, it’s when people purchase the cheap oils that you get issues like popcorn lung etc. You can use vaporisers designed for convection heating of the tobacco which are definitely less harmful. And yes, you can also use this way to vape marijuana for medicinal purposes, I was informed by my physician. Of course if you use it in excess it’s not great like anything, less is more!

Yeah, I generally recommend not vaping just because you don't want the large spike of nicotine that drops shortly after, causing dependence. I recommend having a long constant dose to reduce the spikes and wean off, like lozenges or Snus. If you like tobacco taste Swedish Snus is preferable as it uses sodium bicarbonate to raise the pH for optimal absorption and it's pasteurized like milk so removes 95% of carcinogens including harmful nitrosoamines

Bruh i HATE the fact people are saying vaping is worse than smoking 90% radiographers in the uk would tell you vaping is worse (for those who don't know uk health specialists in uk are much more strict than anywhere else) the damage that the xrays show from vaping vs smoking is so bad. I remember that there was two identical twins who had the exact same lifestyle they would always eat the same food and dress the same but the only difference between them was one smoked and one vaped and the girl who smoked had bad lungs but not too bad could still be reversed with stopping/medication but her twin sister had irreversible lung and heart damage and she was only given a year or so left to live unless she had surgery that was extremely dangerous. She was fine in the end im not sure if she is alive or not cuz this happened a long time ago (and yes i know that they are twins and not the same people but still identical twins is as close to being the same person biologically)

I gotta ask, if she cleaned the filter or peices of the vape that can be cleaned? Was she using a off market vape or vape pod? And the last one, did the vape juice have vitamin E in it? Vitamin e is super bad for you when it is a vape like that. Vitamin E can (in vape form) fuck up a layer in your lungs to the point where said layer can collapse and you can get symptoms such as shortness of breath and lung inflammation. Im not saying the vape alone did it....but there are ALOT of factors people conveniently forget about in the quest to further shit on vapes.

Exactly. This shit guy is being extremely dishonest and thos video is fear mongering disinformation. There is too much information missing. Was it vaping alone that caused it or could the fungal infection result as a complication of an asymptomatic (covid/other virus) infection that weakened her immune system? Did she use corticosteroids before getting sick? What fungus exactly was it; yeast/aspergillus/smth else? If it was aspergillosis, can it be ruled out that she contracted it from i.e a moist, moldy wall at home? Was her liquid glycerin or polyethylene glycol based? Did she mix her own or bought hers from questionable sources? How many ml of liquid did she vape per day? How much emphasis did she put on e-cig hygiene like regularily cleaning it properly, including changing the coil? Considering that vaping has been around for so long now, and there haven't been reports of this happening before, this must either be extremely rare or the vaping was only a contributing factor and not the cause, or even completely unrelated. Ofc vaping is unhealthy but without having answers to these questions it cannot be asserted where she got that infection from.

@@kaonashii. It requires a lot of bad luck and many of these factors being present at the same time, but sure - i'm not denying that there is a risk to it. My experience with vaping was very good. I was smoking cigs since I was 14 years old, switched to vape when I was 21, which had way fewer side effects on the lungs for me and tremendously helped my stamina. Additionally, when I cought a cold, it never got as bad when I was vaping compared to cigs. Last summer I forgot to buy liquid before a weekend, ran out said f* it and I just stopped. Despite having been used to very strong liquids, withdrawing wasn't nearly as bad as stopping cigarretes without substituting them for smth. else. So in the end I am thankful that vaping helped me to break the habit.

@@kaonashii. As a vaper, it isn't entirely safe, but it's a bit riskier if you're either buying from an unknown company or mixing your own liquid. If you have a box, it's considered normal to clean it and replace the coils. They will burn out eventually anyway. The issues with growth are minimized if you're using cartridges, but that doesn't include heavy metal risk.

The vapes are made out of glycerin. The stuff in lotion that helps oil and water absorb into the skin and pulls moisture from the air.
@Psychx_2 жыл бұрын
High glycerin concentrations do actually impede microbial growth by binding so tightly to the water that it becomes unavailable to them. Liquids usually consist of 70% glycerin and 30% polyethylene glycol or vice versa, depending on the recipe. Usually, water is not being added.

@Psychx_2 жыл бұрын
@@kaonashii. In high amounts, this would be true, but we're talking about 0,05-0,1ml of glycerin for every few puffs inhaled and that amount is evenly spread across the whole respiratory tract, followed by the immediate exhalation of a residual glycerin that hasn't condensed or dissolved into the mucus. Mucosa cells have a carrier for glycerin, so the amount that remains in the lung gets absorbed into the cells rather quickly. Glycerol is a natural building part and metabolism product of the body and the cells should easily be able to dispose of it (pyruvate -> Acetyl-CoA -> citrate cycle -> CO2 + cellular energy) or turn it into lipids or glucose.

Vapes are miniature stage smoke machines with more chemicals in. Stage smoke machines are a known irritant with about 2% of people having an allergy or sensitivity. I used to skate at my local indoor rink during the winter when the weather got bad, after skating outdoors for most of the year. Two years in a row I got a really severe chest infection not long after the start of the indoor season for me and realised it was the stage smoke the occasionally pumped onto the rink clogging my lungs up. I went from breathing fresh air for months to skating indoors really flat out and my body couldn't take it.

Part of the problem with vapes is incorrect use/maintenance and substandard components or juices. In other words, ID10T errors, an issue with the vape-lung interface.
