Loving this game a lot but also absolutely agree with your critical points, especially with the performance. It’s High time for Nintendo to come up with more powerful hardware. If you truly want to see what this artpiece of a game this is capable of, you need to emulate this on Yuzu Emulator since you own a copy. Seeing this game in 1440p 60fps on an RTX 3070 is a sight to see.

@Ryan video games have always been interactive movies, you follow a story and there is a point of beating the game. Everygame is not tetris a lot games are interactive movies you immerse yourself in and take control of the main character so let's stop with that retarded argument. This is why technology improves, to the point now we have games like red dead, last of us, witcher etc...you compare a single player game now to a game in the 90s like the 1st tomb raider and it's night and day. And with videogames you can do more than even movies that only take about 2 hours to watch. Link is rescuing the princess and saving a kingdom or whatever, that is a story and there is a point of beating the game, they just use old technology and charge new technology price for it. I do gotta admit... that mechanic is pretty awesome when it comes to the creativity of outlandish stuff. It's pretty impressive. When it comes to Spider-Man 2 achieving something similar, though? Insomniac should focus on outlandish creativity when it comes to Spider-Man's webs... i mean, we do have an aim system! They should really dive deep into innovative webbing mechanics using that aim system to capture the same feeling of creativity, but as the Spider-Man. Hopefully... It can do wonders for combat, vehicle and helicopter missions, and especially stealth.

Appreciate the first impressions. I’ve picked it up and played about 4 hours and the best thing about this game is it’s synergy regarding problem, solution, and creativity. Only other open world games I can think of having this is MGS V, RDR2, and Elden Ring. It feels like everything has its place and the player can use their tools to create their own solution, which BOTW narrowly missed.

I have three issues with TOTK. I've played it for more than 100 hours: 1) The price. It is too expensive. Specially if you live in a country like mine (Colombia). 2) The performance, but it is not something about the game itself, so it is something that relies more on Nintendo and the Nintendo Switch. We need a new console. 3) The most annoying one for me is the way you control the new powers you get after the dungeons. It is a thing that should be reconsidered. It is not perfect, but it is way better than BOTW. I loved it.

In todays current gaming culture its seems like people can't understand a sequel reusing assets or the same engine doesn't mean the game is the same or doesn't have improvements because the graphics haven't been upgraded even though the core aspect of improvements in a game is within the mechanics and design of the game and act like its never been done before . majoras mask . vice city . dark souls 1, 2, 3, bloodbourne, elden ring . Uncharted 1,2,3 . Og ratchet and clank trilogy . Jak and daxter trilogy . god of war trilogy and the okay at best new two games . Both horizons I can go on but when it comes to botw the game was a genuinely good game unlike most mediocre triple a games that get praised to oblivion because it's mechanics and core design had FOCUS and for the most part successfully achieved their goal of non linear freedom with the mechanics and open world experience which the original 2d zelda did but within a 3d space. Which is why I think it is bullshit when a game like tears of the kingdom gets criticised for looking the same when botw even more so than just being a great game has potential to be an even better game with tears of the kingdom

I mostly play on ps5 at 60 fps and this game at 30 fps does not feel like 30 fps. It's snappy and quick to react on movement and combat. I don't even feel when pulling ultra hand or any other ability. The drop has not made me loose a fight or fall for any reason. I would rather play this than jedi fallen.

The game is great. But looks wise, its basically PS3/360 era generation graphics. Its like Nintendo took a time machine back to 2008 or something.

Jedi survivor was literally unplayable because of it's shit performance. People were literally unable to play it. This game never gets that. If we're to hold them to the same standard in performance. Totk cleans with the other games.

Yeah, it just comes down to the hardware. Nintendo chose to release a handheld with a dock instead of a console. That's where the lowered performance expectations come from. If it had the power of the PS5, then performance wouldn't be an issue. If Nintendo downsized their ambitions to hit 30 or 60 fps, then it wouldn't be an issue. The problem is that Nintendo wants to put console games on a handheld. They don't want to be seen as a handheld company. They want to be seen as one of the big boys like Sony and Microsoft (which is why they are charging $70 just like the rest of them). It's all about the perception they want to put out. I'm not sure what they can do about it though. I wonder if they can go back to making a non-gimmick console like the GameCube again and compete. Or maybe they'd just get trounced again. It feels like they are stuck to being a handheld, which is fine, but either the games can't be as ambitious or we just accept that performance will be hit and miss. Personally, I'd love a real deal console again just to see how hard they can flex the power after 3 generations of weak hardware. That'd be fucking crazy.

I agree with you bro that's how it was with elden ring on the PS4 the frame drops were horrible I mean yeah they did fix it later on with patches but for the longest time it looked ugly as hell with them frames kept dropping and I feel you bro I can't wait for a great game to come out on my Xbox series x so I will finally have a reason to play that again but that won't be for a while

Still probs one of the most well optimized games this year considering all the jank going around recently. Considering how much is stuffed into this game, the $70 price tag seems justified. Doesn’t have to be photo realistic to be artistic, a game can still be incredible with same graphics as long as it expands the game enough. And TOTK has basically three full sized maps compared to BOTW’s one. I think the hate is coming from unhappy, shallow gamers. 🤷‍♂️

The bar is so low for nintendo games that anyone who plays anything else are in for a shock with how poorly made these games are in terms of design. Identical mountains, empty fields, and a fraction of side content in comparison to other RPG's. Imagine how much ES6 will have when it comes out, The amount of content that Skyrim has is 10 times the amount of any Zelda game and it was made over 10 years ago and 2 console generations ago and the graphics updates keep it relatively up to date and looks/runs better than any switch game for that matter.

I agree with most of what you said. But we have to remember that Nintendo has made it very clear that their not trying to chase PlayStation and XBOX when it comes to graphics, load times and frame rate. Their going to give you good games with quality content and when they feel like making a new console they will. So no, you can’t hold them to the same standards as the other consoles. They doing their own thing. Is this game worth $70? Probably based on the amount of content you’re getting. You can easily put in over 100 hours in this game. And the next Nintendo console will definitely be backwards compatible so we’ll be playing this game for years.
