I am not a souls fan whatsoever. I didn’t even like bloodborne but sekiro has the greatest traversal in any game I have played. I didn’t beat sekiro but always considered it worthy of GOTY material. I could just swing from tree to tree non stop. I even love the bosses I beat besides the bull. I beat a lot of bosses but it’s too hard overall for my taste. Ghost of Tsushima needs tenchu/sekiro traversal and stealth mechanics badly in the game or at least close to it in the sequel. Ghost of Tsushima too formulaic in its gameplay even though I love the story and at times thought the boss fights were well done. Sony needs to make more unsafe games and break the, by the book gameplay. Just keep the great stories. This is coming from a diehard Sony only console fan. This gen need to be more balance with great gameplay and story for $70. Yeah price does matter. HFW still good game but still by the numbers sequel. I knew elden ring was overrated from the time I read the reviews with barely any critique. No desire to buy an essentially open world conventional souls game that sekiro broke the traditional mole. Sekiro was the tenchu I wanted in this modern day.

I agree with the complaint of reused bosses except for the Margit/Morgott situation. It makes sense lore wise for him to have to hide his identity/real name and rival type villains coming back for a rematch with an upgraded moveset are always cool in my eyes. But I might be biased because i think he's the funnest boss in the game.
@All4Randomness12 жыл бұрын
Great to see someone else with this opinion. Morgott was more difficult and epic than Margit, yet similar enough to show me how far I'd come as a player. I loved the first fight so much that I was itching for a Phase 3 and 4, and From delivered.

The truth is if you have played all the souls games, you know Elden Ring basically has the same gameplay as Dark Souls 3 & the open world section can get super repetitive after a while. Not too mention the amount of re used enemies & bosses. It’s a solid 9/10 as a souls fan still 🤷🏽♂️. It’s 10/10 if you never played a souls game before, Bloodborne is still better.

Bloodbourne and Sekiro is still my favourite. I love Elden ring but it's not the repetative bosses that bugged me. It's the boss damage balance which is completely messed up. Bloodbourne and Sekiro handled that aspect perfectly. Here once you reach the mountain top of giants, I felt like I was back to level 1 because every other enemy was one shotting me and that damage level was more than my health stat 😂. Thought it was completely BS. And fuck that Red giant. The most annoying boss I ever fought in a souls game.

Yeah so being perfectly honest, this is the first souls game that kinda bored me after a while. It’s a great game but it hinges on two core pillars which is combat and exploration. And that’s good for a few hours but Christ man I need some kind of intriguing story. Sekiro actually had a fantastic story that kept me interested, granted it was a tighter game in design, but it knew it’s strengths were the combat and traversal gameplay as well as the story. This game really asks u to keep going for like 100 plus hours with no real story happening except “beat the final boss” lol. I know the Dark souls games premise were simplistic in that regard as well but that’s why they were linear games with a more focused path. Idk I like all the souls games including this one but it’s definitely not my most memorable experience.

9/10 for controls and UX design. The amount of times I accidentally crouched and died by accident during a boss fight because they decided to make it L3 😖. Now with 20 hours into elden ring I feel like I'm finally getting the hang of the combat and I can't wait to go back through the catalogs. Sekiro is on my list as well as Demos Souls Remake. I'll probably skip out on Dark Souls but I hear everyone gush over bloodborne so I'll play that.
@CoffinSkate2 жыл бұрын
@@scottd7222 You know, that's fair. Especially considering that most games from my understanding run at 60FPS on PS5. So going to a 30FPS game with bad frame pacing would be a nightmare. Regardless though, it is amazing and you should absolutely play it. Also, I find Bloodborne to be the best one to start with. Because of the near lack of shields, the game basically is one long and amazing tutorial for Souls-like games. Once you've beaten Bloodborne, the other ones become easier to play. 13:25 I think the reason they critique God of War for the reuse of bosses like the troll, is because they get reused in the main story, the main path you take, and they’re treated as one of the main challenges that move the story forward. Elden Ring reuses them in completely optional areas and even if you skip or miss dungeons you might come across them as regular enemies, they’re not impactful to the story, they’re simply part of the world. Elden Ring was a straight phenomena, those first few months where amazing, I ain't seen nothing like this probably since Skyrim where everyone was talking about the game while exploring every corner of the world, discovering weapons, spells, armors, and other secrets, creating all types of different builds & play styles, it was glorious! Elden Ring took me back to to that 2011/2012 era. But it is true that there was too many re-uses of enemies and gank fights. The later half of the game just becomes repetitive because you've already seen everything by then. Especially Haligtree (Malenia's area) there are no new enemies there at all, was a major let down. They made the world too big, so they had to fill it with repeat stuff, if the world was smaller there would be less repeat enemies and dungeons.

Bloodborne was the worst one to me so far. I will play Dark Souls 3 next but I just didn't find Bloodborne all that. I would probably rate it above Demons Souls but that was my first so I'm bias

I’d actually disagree in regards to the game not having direction. If you pay attention to he game it lets you know from the start to follow “the path of grace” the bonfires always flow in a certain direction and on the map as well there’s a flow of pyre-like fame icon leading you to the next thing. But if you forget what the NPC said and come back later it can be confusing but the game has enough handles for you to follow. I wholeheartedly disagree on that part Jeremy. See u on the streams 😁

About the reused stuff 14:10, this game has more enemies then every other dark souls, and also bosses, around 3x. There is 146 unique enemy types in Elden Ring Other souls Dark Souls 1 - Around 67 enemy types. Dark Souls 2 - Around 69 enemy types (Courtesy of /u/DeadlyxElements) Bloodborne - Around 61 enemy types. Dark Souls 3 - Around 70 enemy types. There is also more bosses variations, I know a lot of those we end up fighting more then one time, but still, there is way more bosses then the other souls. Also just for comparison Assassin's Creed Valhalla - Between 25 and 30. Horizon Forbidden West - Between 40 and 50. Breath Of The Wild - Around 16. Ghost Of Tsushima - Around 10. I think it would be better if the game was a little smaller and had less repetitive stuff, but for the amount of content for the same price as theses other games, it is very excusable.

I quite hated Malenia. She felt like she was hard because they needed to have hard boss instead of just making her fun. Her OST used to be Margits in the network which is pretty cool. I loved Rykard though. Such an awesome atmosphere and stage. His OST along with Godfrey, Malenia, Mohg, Godskin duo are 🔥🔥🔥. Heavily agree with boss reuse. If we’ve been making fun of Ubisoft about their repetitiveness, there’s no reason for me no to also criticize Elden Ring for it. They fell into the same trap of thinking a bigger open world means a better one. And not all typical Souls design choices carry over smoothly. Mainly the quests. I wish you posted some more ER videos on your channel. I never have the time to sit for a stream sadly 😞. Your rage moments are always so funny 😂. I would place Elden Ring as my 3rd favorite behind Bloodborne and Demons souls.

I liked her and godfrey cause they just felt like different. Godfrey's moveset and 2nd phase was epic along with Malenia's. Rykard was cool as well. Godskin duo was toxic af and I was getting tired of the game and just wanted to hurry up and beat it by the time I reached Mohg.

I actually enjoyed the repeated bosses, since it gave me room to experiment different play styles or sometimes just use whatever summons I have, fuck the tree spirit tho

Great review, definitely the truth! Did about the first 100 hours without following a guide and was totally lost. It's fun, but just too big. Was lost in some of the quests, had missed plenty of great gear. Be honest, you either have to be lucky, have 100's of hours free, or follow a guide, to find the best gear. Right on the repeated bosses, too. It's a brilliant game, but less quantity and more original quality would have made it even better.

I haven't touched ER since I beat it almost 2 months ago. I won't be touching it for awhile. I loved it but I wanna play other things.

I'm on Godrick the grafted, and I don't think I'm going back anytime soon. From watching your streams, it just looks too exhausting to play. Other than Bloodborne, souls/borne games kind of remind me of Destiny, or looter shooters because of how much time you have to dedicate. Plus all the reskin bosses lol

Reused boss? I like it. We ask to fight this bosses again and *again* and AGAIN for real like Sekiro. It's a good test to see your progress in the path of Git Gud. The Guide? Yes it's built like that for the community interaction or you can just read or figure it out.
