This may be a poverty thing. Middle class people of color do not put their kids out there like that. But to be fair, 18 is legal age of adult so what they are saying is "as your parent I am no longer responsible for you after 18." Thats actually a true statement. I hope this makes sense.

@@elainewilliams5019 crazy because in America when you turn 18 you can legally move out. You can register to vote. You can buy and do porn. You can enlist in the military to fight for your country and possibly die. You can get married. You can play the lottery. But you can't buy cigarettes or alcohol 😭😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 you literally can have a full-time job, a wife and child to take care of, paying rent and car notes but can't buy a shot of liquor to de-stress on the weekend 😂😂😂 America is very backwards. I don't believe LaToya thought of Bobby DeBarge as anything other than a friend. In fact, I'm pretty sure LaToya did not have any sexual experiences until she was married to her husband and even then, it was not her desire to do so. She lived a sheltered life, and believed, like her mother and the JWs, that sex should be reserved for marriage.

They had the money to live elsewhere, it was Janet who wanted to “play” wife but didn’t really want to move out of the comfort of her parent’s home. She wanted to be grown, but she didn’t really want to be grown. She has publicly admitted this. People have to remember as they are reading or listening along with the book that this is a 30 year old book. It’s hard to discuss a 30 year old and pretend we don’t know all the revelations that have come out since the book came out. I love the Bookclub idea…but it’s hard to not want to add insight to things that happened in the book like 40 years ago. When we know the truth now.

I just watched Janet's documentary. I think Latoya was right about how much Janet loved that man. In that documentary Janet cried over only 1 of her ex's, I think James is still the love of her life. 30+years later and she was crying like she knocked the pill bottle out of James's hand this morning.

😂😂😂😂 lawd not this morning. She really did get choked up about James, she seemed like she was over Rene’s bs, but James made her tell them stop and she looked like she was about to burst out into tears. I think apart of me knew want’s to know what Janet knew about the DeBarge family dynamic. Did she know that he was severely abused by his brother?
@nicki1091
@nicki1091 8 ай бұрын
She is definitely good at pretending and putting on a facade to hide her true feelings I will give her that she definitely had me fooled but not anymore Let’s contemplate this in the documentary she was only on the verge of tears for James, micheal and her dad now for starters her dad and micheal have passed on but she continues to love, cherish and miss them even though they are no longer with us. Now the only difference with james is that she has to grieve someone who is still alive and because of his drug habit there is no finality because of a lack of closure. Now I’m just wondering why would you be sad 😔 and emotional 🥹 about a marriage that ended over a decade ago if you have made peace and accepted that he is no longer a part of your journey and nor do you want him to be.I feel that she has a lot of regrets when it comes to James no woman is going to be sad unless she misses him and wants to open lines of communication. Now In janet’s case she felt that James needed her because he was an addict and thats where she fucked up at she thought he would never walk away and even if he did that it would only be a matter a time before he contacted her but he hasn’t done so in over a decade so now she is stressing out on how to go towards him because of her past actions. Now why doesn’t she just go towards him you ask 1. She fears rejection 2. Janet has very low self esteem no matter how confident she comes across 3. And three she actually cares about what James thinks of her and she is afraid of his judgment of her past actions.

I don't think LaToya told or said much about she and Bobby DeBarge because I really don't think there is much to tell. From what I surmise Bobby had a crush on LaToya, as did many other men during that time. I don't think LaToya was feelin' Bobby like that. She knew they were cut from a different cloth and that wasn't what she liked. They MAY have gone out once or twice, but I doubt that they even dated at all for real. They probably talked over the phone. The public made more out of them as an item than what it really was because it is a cute story to believe that they had a relationship. All that about Bobby writing I Call Your Name for LaToya is really made up by fans, cause Gregory Williams (member and founder of Switch) said in his book that he and Bobby co-wrote the song together and Bobby made no mention of LaToya when they were writing the song. He said he never remembered Bobby dating LaToya back in the day.

Brandi is the supposed "adopted" daughter of Jackie and Enid. Who knows the truth on that one. Brandi has been asked about it and maintains Jackie and Enid were her biological parents. She is very aware that people think she is Janet's daughter and it annoys her. Brandi was the first one that people suspected was really Janet's daughter because they spent a lot of time together. When Brandi was little she was in commercials overseas with Janet. People thought that meant something. In more recent years, people have assumed Stevanna (Randy's daughter) was really Janet's daughter which is not even mathematically possible.

The Jackson boys wasn't gonna do ish to James. They are soft except for Tito. The DeBarges would effortlessly whoop their asses. Janet's last husband and son's father Wissam was verbally abusive towards her. Randy said that Wissam would call her out of her name. I can believe it. Wissam is Muslim. Muslim men are very controlling and have outdated views on women. Janet didn't perform or release any music for a minute while she was with Wissam. When she did come back and released her Unbreakable album, it wasn't the same Janet. She was covered up and her music wasn't sexual. You know Janet is known for being risqué in her music and on stage. The Unbreakable era was a complete departure from the Janet we've known and loved.

I was going to say the same, the DeBarge still got hands, I remember Chico stabbing the guy up in Philly and Tommy book tells how they and the black side and white side beat arses they didn’t play. As for Muslim men being controlling their no more controlling then any other man, you have to think Janet put herself out there marrying him a billionaire what man of wealth any religion would want his wife out there half dressed for the world to see and I have enough money to have her living comfortable, that’s not the life Janet wanted but perhaps the money may have overtaken her morals and beliefs and that may have been a major conflict after the glitz and glamour phase was over.

DeBarges vs. Jacksons 🤔🤔idk who would win that... Theyboth crazy af..😁😂no offense. I 🤎🤎both families, but DeBarges were notorious for trashing hotel rooms on the road. One time, they took down a vending machine because it didn't release whatever they were trying to buy. 🤷🏾‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️

You never know, the deBarges had a Lot pent up rage and anger. Their father beat them and their mom from time they were babies and put them against each other and raped them and made them have sex with each other. James was his favorite so they beat him the most in jealousy. They were all addicts and Bobby was bi as a result. I think the Jacksons might've lost against all that malfunction.

Both families has an abusive father and lived in a harsh home environment; however extremely talented. The Jackson I’m sure did things but ppl where scared back then to speak up against Joe, as he was their manager for the longest. I will say I enjoyed both families music, but Debarge more than the Jackson’s. I was and am a HUGE fan of Janet’s. I have to admit Debarge family had a gift of song; just raw talent. In a documentary they said EVERY single one of the 10 children can sing! The Jackson’s can’t say that. Michael and Janet really carried them through. I just saw Mark Debarge on his KZbin channel singing in bed lying down. He sounded like an angel and the man was chilling on a pillow. That’s a gift from God. Both families suffered in some form or shape from either, drugs, alcohol, or toxic relationships. I’ve watched Janet’s documentary several times. I’m beyond happy for her that she was able to finally be a mom and have the amazing career that she’s had. I’m incredibly proud of Elle for getting back out there and working on his music. He did a Phenomenal job on Tiny desk.
