An ancient arrow will also insta-kill a guardian if you shoot it's eye (Even with a single shot bow). You can use stasis+ or Bullet-Time (midair slow-mo), to help with this, since the hotbox of their eye is pretty tiny. Also worth noting, Killing most enemies with ancient arrows will not yield any drops / loot, but this is not the case with guardians. If you insta-kill a guardian with a single ancient arrow, you usually get enough parts back to buy several more ancient arrows!

misleading and hidden isn't dense and deep. It's just that the game core is so good and unique that the sub par lore, story, mechanics, graphics seem good. What I got from this video, is that the element mechanics don't work as expected, but aren't explained anywhere and are convoluted af. This nerfs the rpg element of planning and choosing your gear and battle style. In any other game it would be criticized upon, but in this one it's a treat a player is supposed to find? No.
@grod59984 жыл бұрын
@@Zafoshin it's too bad you don't like figuring things out on your own through experimentation and playing the actual game, as this "convolution" you're describing is just the mechanics being deeper than is immediately apparent. As for graphics, if you don't like the way it looks on switch, well I'm assuming you knew what you were getting into when you shelled out 300 bucks. Otherwise, if you don't like the artstyle, well you shoulda known what you were getting into when you shelled out 60 bucks. If you want this game to look like what you were apparently expecting on a 300 dollar machine, emulate it on PC. There's plenty of guides and it's morally justifiable if you already paid for the game.
@Zafoshin4 жыл бұрын
@@grod5998 Idk if you fit this into art style or quality, but the game is foggy and colorless af. Idk if it's the switch limitation, but there are other games on switch with better graphics, like astral chain. Botw does look best on an emulator, but I think fixing the fog and color is a resource light adjustment, not sure though. Shit, windwaker looked better! I'm sure switch can handle making this game look better. This whole argument about knowing what you're getting into is bs. Firstly, you ignored me commenting on how the core game is good. I believe it's a good game, just not as great as ppl think. Secondly, knowing what you're paying for doesn't make it any better. I'm not saying buyers were tricked into buying a bad game. I'm saying this is a good game with flaws. Btw, I think it's totally worth the money. Thirdly, I personally play it on my bro's switch so I payed nothing. Many ppl could be in situations that don't neatly fit in your if/thens, which again have nothing to do with the game's quality anyway. Moving on to the gameplay mechanics. You're right about experimenting, but there's always a limit and in case should stats blatantly lie. There are pure blood rpgs with similar complexity, if not less. Imagine playing dragon's dogma and u find the supposedly stronger bow you spent your resources on deals less damage due to uknown reasons you have to find. Now imagine this is hard to notice, but still makes an impact on your resources. Worse even, imagine on of that you're not playing a pure rpg game. Botw is a game that's not supposed to be as deep as an rpg and that makes all this detail just not fit in it. You have to think about the interface you are giving to player to interact with the game and what it should abstract. I could probably reverse engineer the physics equations as well, but where's the fun in that? They are always well abstracted, no1 has to know the numbers. Then there are mechanics, which are part of the interface and await discovery. Sometimes forced by a puzzle and other not. You have to be careful about what is in the latter set and how hard it is to find. Botw failed in this, because of poor game design. We just disagree on the limit. Botw is soooo much "deeper" than apparent, that it exceeds the limit of its genre. Just like a story can be bad if not well presented, so can gameplay be. A good game with hidden stuff to discover feels smooth and fun. Playing dead cells or hollow knight for example feels good, because you are expected to discover so much and the game lets you know of this by design, which botw could do in the arrow's case by hinting hidden stats by not adding damage to bows(and the whole game redesign such choices lead to). Besides things hidden on stage, you can discover combos and fight styles based on well documented traits/weapons. In botw you don't even have to learn the details of elemental damage or shield surfing, because the game is not that hard even on master mode. Only for the trials of the sword maybe. But you still play sub optimally and that is bothersome. The amount of research you must do to discover all these details is well documented in these videos, this one even stating it's bad game design. This makes me think they're not supposed to be discovered, but shape your gameplay in a hidden way. Which would be fine for some physics equations you'd feel the end result of. You call it deep, I call it shit. So I guess we're in deep shit. It's too bad you want to needlessly reverse engineer the game instead of actually playing it, as this "experimentation" you describe is just the game mechanics being unexplained or lies.

One of my favorite elemental combo is to freeze an enemy and repeatedly use a thunderstorm wand on them. Because the thunder shots from the wand don't break the ice, the frozen enemy becomes a source of AOEs that will melt it's health bar as well as other surrounding monsters'.

A great tip for anyone still watching this video. Freezing an enemy works for a conductive surface, that means you can shoot them with shock arrows to get AOE damage dome. Just a little tip you could put in future videos, in early Master Mode I found most enemies a huge hassle until I got an ice rod, then I just froze the enemies and pushed them off cliffs. Do you think you could do a video similar to this on horses. On topics such as how the stats actually scale (e.g. how much faster is a 5 speed horse than a 4 speed horse), how fast all the different gates are comparing to each other (galloping, cantering, trotting, walking), if horses are faster flat out than the master cycle and what the best stats on a horse you can get. You could also go over the damage output and combat techniques with horses. Just a suggestion if you want to. The next try I was ready to fight it just to get my ass handed in like 3 seconds, then I was like “Fuck It” and shot it with an ancient arrow, and I was like “HAHAHA! You need a Stasis+, a multi-shot bow, one single shot bow, some ice and electric arrows, enemies that can be frozen, and a place high enough to enter into bullet time mode (when u shoot arrows in slow mo). First get onto a high place in order to set up for the trap. Next shoot the weakest enemy in the group with an ice arrow and a single shot bow, then immediately stasis them and quickly jump to enter bullet-time mode, then switch the bow to a multi shot one and switch to electric arrows, then keep shooting electric arrows at the stasis-ed enemy. This technique will override the triple-damage trick because the enemy is stasis-ed, but 1. We know that enemies that are frozen, that then get shot or hit with an electric effect will release an AOE thunderdome giving us an extra 40 damage. 2. We also know that the elemental damage or headshots will not be factored in damage when the enemy is stasis-ed 3. Stasis-ing an enemy while frozen, will still allow us to make an AOE thunderdome without breaking the ice on the frozen enemy. 4. Using a multi shot bow with an electric arrow will allow us to maximize the number of Thunderdomes we get. 5. Using bullet-time mode, will slow down the timer of which the stasis effect lasts, giving us more time to create more thunderdomes. 6. The only thing limiting you is the height of which your falling from, and the amount of stamina you have. So let’s calculate the numbers to an individual enemy and to a group surrounding him. Starting off with the individual- -let’s assume that you have 5-shot lynel bow, one normal royal bow, and a 3 tier attack buff. We freeze the enemy with a 38 damage royal bow and an ice arrow, dealing 48 damage. -Next we stasis the enemy and shoot... let’s say 4 volleys onto the enemy with the 5-shot lynel bow with the electric arrow, resulting to damage 640 (remember that Stasis-ed enemies will not experience any elemental damage including the AOE thunderdome damage) - now factoring in the 3-tier attack buff will only effect the the bows damage output, not the elemental effect of the AOE thunderdome. So the bow itself will deal 240 damage instead of 160 with the 3-tier attack buff. And multiply that by 4 volleys will result in 960 damage -now let’s finally add up all the things mentioned, the 48 damage from the ice arrow and royal bow, the 960 damage from the 5-shot lynel bow and the 3-tier attack buff, will result in a whopping 1,008 damage to the single enemy your directly shooting at. (Keep in mind that stasis-ed enemies can’t experience elemental effects, so unfortunately we can’t have the enemy be shocked by the thunderdome) For the surrounding enemies in the Thunderdome, the math is a bit easier... -just factor in the number of times the enemy gets electrocuted by the AOE thunderdome, which is about 20 times (4 volleys with a 5-shot lynel bow) so 800, which is nothing to scoff at lol. This technique is very situational, and shines brightest at enemy camps with big groups of enemies. But you can also use metal items, like metal boxes and chests, to release Thunderdomes, which imo is more effective to use. If your wondering where the idea came from it’s was from this m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/qnrQqWWdncScers (This Zelda KZbin specializes in combat tutorials, which I learned from and from using my own experience too, make sure to watch all of his videos) I also believe that if you stasis a neutral chuchu jelly, you can also release Thunderdomes too, making it easier to set up traps for enemy camp. What I recommend to set up this trap is for you to do is to start off from a high place, without the enemies spotting you or by using majoras mask, dropping the jelly on the ground and stasis it, and quickly get into bullet time mode and shoot the jelly really fast. Edit: extra info and grammar fixes

Wow, this is all very interesting!! I watched the clip and question, and its crazy what someone can do just with the elemental stats!! The electric AOEs are very overpowered, so it makes sense for a player to get as many as possible - and this seems to be the best way!! Thanks for sharing!! 😊

here is something not many people know as well about the elemental weapons enemies that are frozen because of the ice weapons when struck with an electric weapon will create the aoe electric damage effect as well it has been a while since i played the game so i forget if fire out right does extra damage or one shots the oppenent treating them as an ice elemental enemy

honestly when i found this out on accident at the end of my playthrough around when the game came out i was so happy and excited watching this reminded me of my accidental discovery so i was a bit dissapointed that it wasn't shown and the fire thing might be false it has been a very long time since i last played

throughout all of this, I had thought that, based on the info here, the best bow to use for elemental arrows was in fact the duplex bow(no dud arrows for ice), but then a question comes to mind... The duplex bow doesn't fire two at the same time, it fires one then another. That leaves the question: does each bomb arrow shot count as a single shot each, or does it count them like the multishot bows?

i think its still important to remember tho that while multi shot bows arent as effective as they seem, they still only consume one arrow each for all that extra damage rather than 3 or 5 for a single shot arrow. At least when it comes to ice, thunder or of course ancient arrows

My biggest question is how does the game inventory sort weapons and bows, It makes no sense. With either sort method. Not sorted by Damage, Apparently not by Type, Effect, or even Name. It's really been bugging me.
@echocolatowo4 жыл бұрын
I think it's sorted by the number in game's files
@jenniferchough4 жыл бұрын
Tat's strange because I always sort by Dmg from highest to low and that's how they are displayed in my inventory. Sometimes it depends on the stats on them such as speed (of the draw) or durability but that's always within its type. So I'm not sure what's going on there. But my inventory always goes high to low, regardless of type of weapon.
@echocolatowo4 жыл бұрын
@@jenniferchough You're maybe true... But, there are two different sortings ?
@starkeeper_youtube4 жыл бұрын
As Aaron mentioned, melee weapons are sorted in three categories, and from there sorting A is by number (base damage for melee and bows, shield guard for shields) and I think sorting B is by durability stat? Not 100% sure though.

So I know I'm a little late, but this makes me realize that the Duplex Bow, of all things, actually treats the elemental arrows the best in terms of efficiency. You don't get any dud arrows.

I still use Savage Lynel bows because they're the only bows in my inventory.
@Croton4 жыл бұрын
That's understandable - in the late game those are the only bows people still pick up most of the time 😅
@jenniferchough4 жыл бұрын
I only carry about 3 or 4 lynel bows for specific purposes because they are TERRIBLE for range. So I typically have 3 to 4 lynel bows, a handful of royal bows, then rounded out with a few souped up falcon bows for sniping and speed draws.
@Croton4 жыл бұрын
Most bows in the game have identical ranges - the only ones that have enhanced range are the rito bows, sniper bows, duplex, ancient, and the light bows

Like this man's video! You cannot begin to understand how much work very likely went into the research, and overall construction & production, of a video like this... Awesome, useful AF info as always, bro. What's even better is how many of us were hundreds of hours, or multiple runs through the game already, and likely very comfortable in our techniques, have been in the comments of these in-depth videos praising the info with blown minds, before promptly re-evaluating and reconstructing large portions of how we play, travel, attack, or even, of course, just view what we're being told and shown of the world with some deeper understanding, or belief of such... Again, just outstanding all you Zelda theorist/fact finders ❤️❤️🤘🤘🤙

So then is it actually effective to switch between hitting enemies with an ice arrow then a shock arrow, then ice again etc.?
@Croton4 жыл бұрын
It can be - hitting a frozen enemy with thunder doesn't always create the AOE though unfortunately
@jenniferchough4 жыл бұрын
Is ice + thunder better than ice+ fire? I assumed ice arrow followed by fire arrow would do more as they are opposite elements but i guess ice is technically water and conducive?
@benv8074 жыл бұрын
@@jenniferchough yea it is . Fire arrows after ice... you may as well have just used a normal arrow unfortunately. What you can do outside of arrows tho is to blow them away with a korok leaf and get them over a cliff (once they're frozen). And if you're really getting into it you can attack with the korok leaf, jump as soon as the wind comes out (a jump cancel) and then hit bomb. You will blow the enemy away and then you can detonate the bomb for 3x damage and knock back! You have to be careful with thunder though, the ice does count as a conductive surface, but only 100% of the time to thunder rods (and lightning rods). Other weapons may just initiate the ice break thing, meaning there is no AOE lightning thingy. Interestingly enough tho chuchu jelly counts as a conductive surface, but they're single use. Honestly tho I don't fight like this lol I'm more into using bomb parries (dropping a bomb and then parrying it so you can use it at close range), normal parries, flurry rushes and bows with just normal arrows perfectly really. I even found out that if you press attack with a single handed weapon three times and then once you've done that spin the control stick and then press attack (a normal spin attack input) you can do three normal attacks and then cancel the last on into an immediately spin attack, meaning you can get five hits instead of four. and you can jump cancel the last hit. pretty cool

random facts that arent in the video fire cooks food(and can make updrafts) if your in a pinch its useful but ice also freezes food wearing zant/thunder helm with champions tunic+ soldiers greaves or ancient greaves gives 3 more defence than full set of rubber or snowquill respectively (and +1 ancient resistance in the ancient grieves) you can applly fire to weapons but also thunder to stuff to make a shock trap or fire trap and rain is op And elemental chu chu jelly can be elemental bombs. you can freeze an enemy then shock them for lots o damage ancient is technically an element that does extra damage to guardians and light arrows are amiibo exclusive apart from cutscene boss pausing and dropping an elemental weapon mid swing will keep its elemental effect on for some reason shoot an electric lizalfos's head for a free shock bubble using the duplex bow is a viable method with ice arrows.
