when u discussed the strongest bow/arrow hit in the game im guessing youre not counting bows with x5 arrow per shot? like the lynel bow? im guessing its because you strictly want to analyze with each individual shot? because when i used the lynel bow x5 with max damage and guardian arrow on headshots it just melts bosses.
@Croton4 жыл бұрын
@@ACloudWithoutAir Actually, the lynel bow combo with the ancient arrows is slightly weaker then the ancient bow one we went over in the video - as they receive extra ancient buffs that the multishot bows don't get (I think its only like a 20 damage difference though) Also, I already went over everything about multishot bows and elemental effects in a previous video, so I didn't want to repeat info here 😅
@fluffygalaxy64 жыл бұрын
Great video, but what about shooting "archers" in the head to deal 10 times more damage, like you mentioned in the beginning, wouldn't that be the second most powerful bow attack? If my maths are correct, that would do 44 (ancient bow) * 1.5 (normal Attack up)*1.8 (ancient profficiency)*10 = 1188 damage, which is a bit more than the stalker shot (693) you calculated in the video.
@MrQuick-cd5zv4 жыл бұрын
I am 90% shore that the royal guard claymore can get up to 120 not 116
@Croton4 жыл бұрын
@@fluffygalaxy6 Since the strongest enemy type that can spawn on an archery tower only has 120hp, you're not really "dealing" 1188 damage to them, you're only dealing 120, and the rest is overflow. This is why the ancient bow/arrow combo is still the strongest - but thats still an interesting way to put it!!

These hidden mechanic videos didn't make me want to "game the system" any harder to make the game easier but they do give me a deeper appreciation for the labor the devs put into building one of the most effective and fun combat systems I've ever experienced. The hidden xp and elemental attributes and bonus stacking and caveats for specific weapons against certain situations really come out to the perfect formula without ever needing to reveal any of it's complexities through numbers.
@perhaps70463 жыл бұрын
Yeah same, I don’t want to exploit these combat details but rather appreciate them

seriously. if all these things (along with cooking mechanics) were explicitly shown to me, i would have not enjoyed the game at all. seeing pages of my inventory with rows and rows of numbers attached to them just makes my eyes glaze over in games. it's amazing how they were able to pull off communicating simplicity while having a complex system built underneath that actually works intuitively to the player. no, an average player would never be able to max out damage numbers without doing a bit of homework and testing, but getting decently OP is quite possible just by following the guidance the game gives you with limited information.

I know this won't probably ever happen, but I'd love to see Nintendo making a patch where they just add a BUNCH of all of this info to the game. Like, showing all of those hidden stats, not just of weapons and armor and such, but also for enemies, and whatnot. Maybe even add a Compendium for monsters, where it shows what they're weak to, what their HP is and when, what damage they deal, etc. Either that, or if someone made an actual mod that displays all of this information, that would be cool as well. If there's one thing I love about some games, that's when they display all of their info, and what every stat means, and how does it work.

Great video! Although from my own research I see some mistakes (or rather contradictions to my results) in your assessments about the Ancient Arrows and I want to give additional information, which I believe to be correct. 1. The Ancient Arrow does not get a +30 damage bonus from hitting a Guardian Scout. Instead it has a fixed 20 damage addition for all non-Guardian enemies, that don't get one-shot, (i.e. overworld bosses). However because this bonus is tied to the Ancient Arrow, it receives the 50% Ancient Weapon Bonus, when hitting Guardian Scouts and Blight Bosses, which results in an apparent 30 damage bonus. 2. When not used on Guardian Scouts and Blight Bosses, the Ancient Arrow will not receive a 50% bonus damage. It can however, as you have mentioned, get the 80% Ancient Proficiency Bonus even without the Ancient Bow. This bonus is also always applied to the aforementioned 20 additional damage. 3. Hitting a frozen Guardian with the setup provided in the video may not be intentionally nerfed, as it may simply be an artifact of the game's logic for frozen entities. When hitting a frozen Guardian Scout, the 50% Ancient Weapon (and 30% Guardian Weapon) bonus is negated, and, as you mentioned before, a frozen Critical Hit also negates the x2 Headshot bonus. This results in the loss of a x2 and x1.5 bonus, but also the gain of a x3 bonus, meaning there is no change in the outcome. Although an exception to this can be seen below. 4. When using an Ancient Bow in conjunction with an Ancient Arrow on Guardian Scouts and Blight Bosses, *both* weapons will separately apply a 50% boost to the given bow damage (including the 20 additional damage from the Ancient Arrow), which results in a total x2.25 damage bonus, when hitting Guardian Scouts and Blight Bosses. If you combine rules 3. and 4. in an applicable scenario, you can see, that from hitting a frozen Guardian Scout a x3 damage boost will be gained, but a (1.5*1.5*2)=4.5 damage boost is lost, which results in the apparent nerf. Regardless, your work is awesome!

11:51 Awww shit my boy is playing on Cemu This visual glitch you see here is an issue with Nvidia GPU's when used in emulating BOTW, meaning that this footage was taken from a PC, not a switch or Wii U (Yes, emulating BOTW is possible, and has been for years.)

Okay, I've been confused at where 1616 came from for the last example (14:14), because just going 75 * 1.8 (ancient proficiency) * 1.5 (attack up) * 8 (Sneakstrike) gets you to 1620 exactly. You *should* be able to one-shot a gold moblin. This is crap, Nintendo. I've deduced that rounding is happening at least once in the MIDDLE of calculations, after the attack up buff is applied and before the Sneakstrike multiplier. The Sneakstrike bonus must be getting applied after the attack up bonus because applying the x8 multiplier anywhere before the x1.5 always results in whole numbers, which means you would get 1620 instead, and properly kill the moblin in one hit. I can't totally tell what order stuff is getting applied in outside of that based off this single example, since there are technically a couple ways you could get to 1616. Further, the other examples in the video all start with an even base damage, meaning a 1.5 attack up multiplier won't give us a decimal but instead a whole number (and the 1.8 multiplier isn't used in the other two weapon examples) The only other decimal calculation is with the ancient bow against the guardian scout (8:44), and that appears to round down the "ancient weapon against guardian" 50% bonus from 193.5 to 193, which still doesn't totally help explain what's going on between ancient proficiency and attack up. Here are a couple ways it could be working, which could be narrowed down with more test data. Scenario 1: Ancient Proficiency -> Attack Up -> (rounded down) -> Sneakstrike Looks like this: 75 * 1.8 = 135 (no rounding since it's an exact whole number) 135 * 1.5 = 202.5, rounded down to 202. This, again, is assuming the product of the attack up multiplier is rounded down and not to the nearest whole number. 202 * 8 = 1616 Scenario 2: Attack Up -> (again, rounded down) -> Ancient Proficiency -> (rounded to nearest) -> Sneakstrike If this is how it works, they'd have to have different rounding methods for different bonuses (i.e., products of attack up always round down, while products of ancient proficiency are rounded to nearest). I don't friggin' know. It's weird. Anydangway, here's what that looks like: 75 * 1.5 = 112.5, round down to 112. 112 * 1.8 = 201.6, round to nearest, to 202. 202 * 8 = 1616 Either way, it bugs me a bit that they have rounding happening in the midst of multi-step calculations rather than just doing it at the end. If anyone has further insight as to the order these multipliers are applied, and when/what type of rounding is happening, that'd be cool to know as well! The reason I even care about this level of detail is because I'm learning JavaScript/React and trying to build a sample app that does all these calculations when you just plug in some information about your equipment and buffs - and I noticed my calculations were off from the test results here in the video.

When ever I fight guardians or guardian scouts, I always use the ancient proficiency buff because of the damage output. But when it comes to fighting lynels I use attack up buff with multi-shot headshots (specifically 5-shot bows, or just the great eagle bow and any 3 - shot lynel bows with quick-shot or just a attack up multiplie) it makes killing them so much faster.
