The TRUTH Behind Kobe Bryant's "Quit Game"

Kobe’s 2005 - 2006 season was one of his greatest regular seasons. He had a disgusting roster talent-wise. He averaged 35-5-5 on 56 TS%, first to average 35 since MJ. However, when it came to the Playoffs, the Lakers were facing the Suns in the 1st round of the 2006 playoffs, an offensively magnificent team that a below average laker squad would need a miracle to beat. They didn’t get that miracle. I would talk about this, but I know your here for that. That’s right, the infamous 2006, 1st Round Game 7, where the Lakers would inevitably get blown off the court. However, we need to look at the first 4 games, where Kobe played with much more of a passing mindset than usual. Not pass first, just more than usual.
Hope ya'll enjoy!!! Thanks for watching 😁😁

Fun fact. The Game 4 that they won in OT Kobe only shot ONE TIME in the 4th quarter. He referenced that stat when he later went on TNT to discuss the allegations to Charles Barkley directly. Kobe took huge offense to Charles sayin that Kobe was selfish and he quit.

I'll be happy he won 2 rings later on tho and remember, in game 7 of the 2010 NBA finals, kendrick perkins was injured and unable to play in an extremely close game that Kobe Bryant had double digit important rebounds. No one brings up the fact that a healthy celtics team wins that game. There are always 2 sides to sports. The truth and what we make as our own truth.

If you get zero stops, get out rebounded, out hustled, out executed how can you come back? THEY were gonna lose no matter what HE did. Game 6 was the end of the series truthfully. One friggin rebound was all they needed to advance and even though they had the bigger team they failed to box out repeatedly, allowing Phx to force overtime. Nuff said.

The Lakers had game 6 in the bag. They were up 3 late in the 4th and kwame for some reason flew by Tim Thomas and gave up a wide open 3. (Afterwards Tim Thomas mocked Kobe's game 4 celebration) But the final score doesn't really show how close that game was. Phoenix just pulled away in overtime. Kobe being aggressive in that series wasn't all bad for the lakers. Kobe took 24 shots in game 2 and the Lakers won that game. I get what you're saying about Kobe tryna get his teammates involved in game 7 because it did work in certain games in that series. But once you're down by double digits at halftime, it's not working. It's time to switch it up. The Lakers desperately needed some offense in game 7 and Kobe wasn't aggressive at all. I'm a huge Kobe fan and I love the Lakers but knowing the type of player that Kobe was and knowing that it was a win or go home situation, Kobe did kind of mail it in. But I think that was partly because of how the media killed Kobe after game 6.

It went to game 7. Meaning the Lakers HAD won some games in the series. You're making it seem like they didn't win any games. And neither passing more nor shooting more worked. Basketball is obviously a combination of the two for maximum effectiveness. Saying, what was Kobe supposed to do? Idk...maybe what he did in the 3 W's.

Its funny how Bron fans defend him losing to Orlando Magic in 2009 when clearly his team was way better than the Magic. Lebron fans won’t admit that if he beat the Magic he takes Kobe six games in the finals instead of the snooze fest five game series. This whole thing Lebron did more w less is an excuse.

@@reallife8501 Mj had more all stars than pippen just google it. He also didn't have as many stars because bulls management was so good they never needed to sign anyone new. Awards Kobe been robbed everyone knows that. Even in 2001 you can make a really good case that he should have been finals MVP. Accuracy-Jordan shot less and played in an easier era of basketball which explains steals and points. He is also top ten in missed shots lol don't bring that up it's a bad point. Media makes the worsts lists everyone and their mother knows that. Clutch stats? You know Kobe statistically since you're a total stat head is more clutch than MJ right? Oh well use playoff stats as oppose to general stats I guess goofy. Mj has lost in finals while being favorited. Did you seriously try using accuracy for team selections?? "how could you say he was a high IQ player when he suddenly changed his style of game in a freaking game 7 when the team needed him to score more". Um, so he changed his style of game when his team was down in a game 7 because attempting to shoot the lights out in the first half didn't work. So... he started passing once trying to score all the points didn't work. Which is high IQ... lol.

@@bhb7406 im not saying he didn’t have high IQ. Of course he was a very intelligent player and that’s why he’s an all time great. I’m just sick of ya’ll trying to justify his actions in the second half. He had a scorer’s mentality. He knew that it only takes a couple of shots for him to get going. It’s always the next shot. If it misses, next shot. why all of a sudden he became a pass-first in the second half? He knew he aint Magic who can dominate the game by passing. He ain’t that stupid. He obviously did it on purpose because he was already done mentally. My point is stop justifying what he did. He quit on his team. So what? Ya’ll cant blame him. His teammates ain’t that good. Just stop saying that “oh because shooting more didnt work so he decided to be a pass first guy in the second half”. You can do that in the regular season maybe but not in a Game 7.
