The Club should have reported the restaurant and taken them to Court, however, its for this very reason I think this story and its conspiracy was indeed a cover story because they said they went there regularly so the chances of it being deliberate or food poisoning is probably very slim. Its more likely the players celebrated prematurely and drunk too much alcohol ahead of the match. Typical Spursy thing to do and for it to backfire. Besides, they should not be taking that chance on the eve of a match, let alone a big match like that. Players back then drank alcohol more regularly than they do now so excess alcohol is far more likely.
