Wow, the response to this video has been incredible! Lol, thanks for the supportive comments y’all. I’m relieved that we can have this convo with so much peace. There was a lil confusion though so I wanna clarify! To clarify: I know I’m black, LOL. I’m not trying to flatter myself... 😅. Or maybe I am because as far as I’m concerned, to be black is the most beautiful. I’m ethnically 100% of Nigeria. I’m only American by birth (nationally) and I don’t have generations of ancestors from America. I’m wearing a wig in the vid but most times I wear my natural hair lol. Plis dears... I mentioned in the vid that I still get these questions when I’m barefaced and fro out. Even WITHOUT these gray contacts lol. I also talked about how Nigerian society is VERY different from American society so what is “light” here is different from region to region. I do not consider myself to be light. My skin is caramel-ish or peanut-butter-y in person which to me is broooown. See, I can’t explain the fluctuation of olive skin when it’s captured. I be looking hella chocolate online but golden in person. I’m lowkey tired of trying to get my grade (Photo/video color toning) correct but... one day 🤣. I hope this helps!

I dont like that so many people are saying you arent black....as if Black Women can't be exocticaly beautiful unless there is another race involved. First of all let me just say to these ignorant people "we" are one of the only if not the only race that has sooooooooooo many different looks. So look many types of Black. Soooo many skin tones(all beautiful) soooo many different hair textures as well. Black Women are the most beautiful women in the world. From our skin tones to our strong spirits. And yes....you obviously are black. Black and beautiful.(with or without contacts ,wigs,or natural) Period. #BeAmazing -Mrs.Mercy

@@monica421 In my experience I did because of my eyes and skin but both my parents are Black and there's a lot of people who look like me in Great Lakes Africa anyways. We do. Love this!!! My Grandmother was one of the founders of the NAACP youth division & featured on the cover of their first Crisis magazine. She ended up separating herself from them when they told her how rare she was being so dark and beautiful. She was insulted & hurt that people fighting for Aerican African equality in this country did not accept that the African diaspora is filled with beauty and many European cultures have been claiming those features as originating from them like the Victorian wire wide bottom dresses that was really to compete with the naturally big beautiful black bottom. Thank you sister for continuing to educate & remain loyal to your ancestors & roots.

I remember being in a salon, and I was holding a conversation with the hairdresser. Due to my accent she ask where I came from. I told her I was from Nigeria in west africa. Then this hairdresser said to me, you're so beautiful but I didn't think you were from Africa I was so upset. I told her they've been brainwashed for what they see on TV. I've to really educate her. Infact this happened in Canada in 1991.

It never occurred to me for a second that you're not black, and I seriously doubt this is how they really feel. Your skin tone is beautiful, your hair everything. The blackfishers and their supporters need to lash out and have made you their target. In their bigoted minds, you're too beautiful to be black. That's only because they choose to ignore the immense amount of beauty among us, all shades and especially our darker sisters who are simply gorgeous like yourself. I pray you are not bothered by their asinine accusation.

Exactly! Her features are clearly black AND beautiful. I personally think she would look just as beautiful with her natural eye color. It's a bit disingenuous to have outrage and post a whole video when it's clear that the eye color is what is throwing people off. Those contacts look real (at least on camera, don't know how they look in person) and majority of full black people are not born with blue eyes. And frankly, brown eyes are just as beautiful! I cannot imagine anyone saying she is blackfishing if she posted a gorgeous made up picture of herself with her natural eye color. Just my 2 cents

You are gorgeous. Your hair texture is not the confusing factor for people nor are your features. You have the "stereotypical" fuller features beautiful lips, full pretty nose. I honestly think its just the contacts in pair with the way you do your makeup and particularly the wig on in this video for example. Another portion can for sure be the way you edit your pictures. I don't see how it could be anything else. You in your stunning natural state is in no way confusing, you definitely do not appear ambiguous.

This summer I just got back from Cuba so I had a major tan, the sun closer to the equator is intense! My picture got reposted on a Popular natural hair Instagram page so many people could not believe I went from light skinned to dark skin. On top of the fact that they couldn’t believe my hair grew so fast in just a year. People were saying I wasn’t real, they were two different people, that I was white blackfishing, or that I used to bleach then stopped and went back to my natural color 😂😭 it was crazy

I've noticed that lot of White people want to take credit for Black beauty. They like to say they contributed to it, in some way. I was told I have a 'White' nose. I don't have a European nose. You can find thin noses in many countries in Africa. I have a handsome cousin who is light skin with curly hair. Whites, I know, said he looks White. First, he's not light enough to be White. When I tell them he's not mixed and his parents aren't mixed, either, they get annoyed. Ever heard of Lolita, A very dark girl from Sudan? She's called the 'Black Hannah Montana" A White man said she looks like a black White woman. NO WAY! She has Sudanese features. You can always tell when Whites are envious of our beauty and varied features. They find ways to take credit for it. BLACKS, on the other hand, have no excuse for their ignorance. These are the Blacks who are still stereotyping Black features. There's documentation showing that ALL FEATURES YOU CAN FIND WORLD WIDE, ORGINATED IN AFRICA!!
