I have owned my marquis hot tub for over 3 years. This is a fantastic unit. We absolutely love the micro silk option and use it every time we are enjoying our hot tub. As others have said Hot Tubs Albuqueruqe is an outstanding retailer and their service is top notch. As the video recommends you should experience the marquee product before finalizing your purchase.

I am currently in the process of purchasing my first spa/hot tub in Las Vegas area. I watched Chris' videos as I thought it was informational for a new buyer like me. Even before watching this video I knew he was biased to one brand that I found out he sells. I will be looking at Marquis Vector 21 as an alternative and drop the 8.2 model of the brand he is pushing. Glad I found this video.

My local spa shop sell Marquis and also Bullfrog (rebranded Villeroy & Boch). I've wet tested the vector range and was impressed but here in the U.K Marquis are ludicrously expensive, the Signature series were like £18000 for the Epic. I managed to get a Master Spa Michael Phelps 7 (LSX 700) for £10000 which was a £3k discount. The Phelps blows the Vector into the weeds in terms of performance (from my experience) but that's just me, I'm sure most people will find the vector absolutely fine and even think the reverse to me. I had quite a few email conversations with Chris before I bought a tub and guess what...he recommended I go local and get the Marquis, he always came across as very honest and helpful. He just said they were having a few quality issues but other than that they were one of the top brands out there. The fact is, there is probably no other industry I have come across where there is so much misinformation, opposing opinions and down right bullshit. Competitors are always going to throw crap at one another and it's a nightmare working out who is talking sense and who isn't. I suspect the vast majority of people who don't like Chris and slate him like Steve are hot tub dealers.....especially ones that sells brands that Chris doesn't like. I honestly think if you have a good reputable dealer you can't go far wrong with any quality brand. I have a decent nose for bullshit and I don't smell as much of it with Chris than other hot tub experts... his recommendations are simple and make sense. Strong shell, good readily available components, no bells and whistles, good insulation and most importantly....choose a good dealer. How can any of that be bad advice ? Everyone says he steers everyone towards Master Spa....read through his blog because that's not the case at all, he recommends many brands including Marquis. I wish Hot Tubs Albuquerque all the best :-)

I rocked a Premium Leisure PR982 when we became an authorized dealer for Marquis/Vector spas. 575 gallon 8 seater tub with three 5hp pumps. Brutally big party tub but I would have traded it in a heartbeat for that floor model my Rep Jason and I put in at our store. I'm currently a spa repair technician and truth be told, never had a call or seen a Marquis spa in the field needing repair. I think it's buyers are "of a certain caliber". I've had to service plenty of HotSprings and Bahama spas in the field. Sometimes a MAAX/Vita but damn those Vita are like 30 years old and still holding water/just need a pump. I also see plenty in the field that are owner neglected. They don't take care of their water properly. That and not clean filters often enough/soak Muratic acid/water overnight ever. Those of you that are shopping or are new tub owners, I strongly suggest you go get another backup filter for your spa. They come in handy for cleanings and also extend your time needed before store run for filter. I did finally get a Marquis Mirage LE from 2002 and am going to fix it up and get it going soon. It needs a pump. No biggie. I can source one easily. So far every Marquis I've ever seen is Balboa equipped so I or anyone is good when it comes to "parts" for any Marquis/Vector spa. If a person keeps their water balanced, cleans the filter/replaces filter as needed, turns off the air venturi to jets when not is use they can extend the life of their tub, it's components and it's cover. It's really not that hard folks.

Why is it that the more videos I watch about this industry and their sales techniques, the more it feels like I'm back in the 1960's being assaulted by aluminum siding salesmen? You really can't trust anyone posting supposedly "objective" reviews. This is an industry that needs to include a hot shower with disinfecting soap as part of the buying process.

I've literally had customers crying at my counter because they did not think through their spa purchase. Maybe they bought at a traveling show and realized they did not have support after the sale, or perhaps they were devastated over a recurring $200 electric bill from a cheap spa that was not properly insulated. In most circumstances, it was because they rushed their buying decision. Usually, they felt pressured by a salesperson and did not do their research. At Hot Tubs Albuquerque we strive to change that. We want our customers to have an amazing spa experience that starts when they walk in the door.

All their spas have foam. Some models offer an upgrade to full foam, and others are full foam only. On their Elite and Vector spas, full foam is an upgrade. On their new Crown series and swim spas, full foam is standard. As far as the clamps go, they use clamps where required and don't use clams when not needed, secondary to the Sure Grip plumbing. At 5:50 in the video, I explain the unclamped jet design.

It was 15 MINUTE video (which is unheard of in my line of CPG marketing work, maybe seconds, but never minutes), given this is a high consideration category, I think it was a clever approach. The way Hot Tubs Albuquerque breaks down and debunks the myths as a retort video was genius. Of course, this now has me re-thinking and wondering about my own hot tub purchase 6-7 yrs ago. We're thinking about getting a 120 volt spa. I've spent several hours on the internet (some with Wheatley) doing research. I've never noticed the level of insulation as an available option. How does the construction of the Broadway compare with the Vector 21 you show here? Thanks.

The Broadway is very close on the construction, it has a different skirt material and is only offered in the foam over option. I like the Broadway for the comfort of the of the Adirondack chair and having two cool down seats. It does well on 120V and you can convert it to 240V if you ever want to. It is also very easy to brace yourself in the seats on the foot well.

Have to wonder that there are 2 different tubs from the same company having different foamed interiors. The explanation seems to be the tub with what looks like less insulation is "going to Texas" ?, while the model with what appears to be more sprayed in foam is going to a colder climate ?. I call BS on that. It's not like Texas doesn't have a winter. If you tell me it's going to Costa Rica - OK, but otherwise it looks like exactly what the review stated, a poor job of installing the insulation and they got called on it. Too bad.
@HairMiraOil

@Steve Bailey ... You are absolutely wrong about that!...I live in Toronto, Canada and have a vacation home in Orlando, Florida....I own 2 Marquis (one in Toronto and one in Orlando) and they are each insulated differently as explained in this video...And it's not like Orlando doesn't get cold weather either, but just like Texas it's just NOT COLD ENOUGH to necessitate the extra insulation....So He is bang on with his explanation... no BS there whatsoever!
@briandevos156
@briandevos156 4 жыл бұрын
Completely agree, very sloppy insulation and eventhough the motor is vented out the back, if you understand how an electric motor works the insulation against the side of the motor (not pump head) will create a hot spot and will cause premature failure. As I have always said, there are three sides to every story. Not dissing Steve, I am sure he and his business are very repputable (4.9 on Google reviews), but I do think this rebuttal is biased as well.

I sell and service used hot tubs, and have been in the industry for over 30 years, watching both Chris and Steve's reviews i can say Steve is correctly stating that Chris is bias and his review was terrible. Chris made no attempt to explain why his points he was stating were valid like why Waterway Jets are the best, and his lack of explanation on the weak points just made the video sour everything he was trying to discredit them with. Bottom line without going into a really long presentation with all of the facts Chris did a horrible review for a brand he supposedly backed and that was obvious. Is Marquis top of the line...No but they are still top tier spas. I'd say they rank in the top 10 manufactures, defiantly a few spots higher than Master Spas. I do like the idea behind Hot tub university, but Chris is off game and not reviewing products objectively and honestly. Ive been watching them and this reviewing method is obvious in may of his video reviews.

It is likely that he did not see the 8.5 X 11 yellow warning label that told him to tighten the microsilk fittings before filling, we missed that once also... however my issue with his low water was not the shipping position of the union, but the fact that he didn't refill the spa for the demo. @radzer0966

Conner Brady there is a mix on this video of both of them being wrong. Chris calls the full foam a package but it’s not actually a choice. It’s just the way he is saying what cost it adds. As for the low water and water features that could be a issue on Chris there. But as far as the jets design in this video they are still special to this unit and not on other brands. Won’t see me bash this unit as it does seem to be pretty good. Balboa parts and all as well. But the cost I hear for this unit I feel like they are making a killing at purchase and can sell you parts for less.

@@jasonsloan3926 some areas are warmer than others, yes you are right. But as a manufacturer that shouldn't stop you from fully insulating a spa, i just don't agree with that at all. every spa should be fully insulated and that will also save the consumer money in the long run because the spa will be much more efficient, especially in warmer climates. I think it's worth making a second comment here as Chris doesn't know what the hell he's talking about. He apparently has never heard of Der Waals Force " "Opposites Attract." Or Henry's Law. Which by increasing the pressure around the water. The water can then hold more gas. Microsilk supersaturates the water with oxygen so much so. That it increases the oxygen level in the water by 13mg/L. Which is 70% more than normal tap water. I mean it's not rocket science and if Chris actually knew anything about hot tubs. One of the best things in killing bacteria and helping to promote healthy skin health. Is to introduce oxygen or ozone which can help stimulate the immune system, promote healthy healing, and to provide energy to the cells. In a since it helps create negative ions. Which helps fight free radicals and help to raise serotonin levels. His argument doesn't hold up because I'm being treated with microsilk for my ichthyosis condition. I will never get another hot tub without this feature. :)

Just an FYI the Master Spas went full foam and no fiberglass a couple of years ago in and effort to save money! Most, not all full foam spas have no fiberglass, they use the foam for support in lieu fiberglass. This guy Chris is pushing his brand, which every dealer should if you truly believe in it, but don't falsely trash other brands in the process. I have been in the hot tub business for over 32 years in New York, so what goes on in Canada makes no difference to me. When a customer tells me the lies about the brand I sell that Chris Wheatley is telling the public, now that creates an issue.

We used to sell a brand that used Waterway jets and had a lot of problems with the metal on the spinner drilling out the plastic face. Customers would bring in a little metal barrel after about a year and we would replace the jet. I have personally found the jets that Marquis uses are doing very well in the field. Simpler design means less expensive and higher flow. As for our joints, we use glue. SOME of our joints don't need to be clamped, but that is by the design of the hose. In fact if you did clamp them it could cause an issue! You assume change cannot happen and old designs cannot be improved on. I would submit to you that many people reading this reply are driving around in a car that has no frame! How could this be? don't all cars have a frame? I realize you likely work for someone else but it would do you good to stop by a Marquis showroom and try a few, I think you will be pleasantly surprised!

Your not familiar with the the jet used on Vector21. All the other series Marquis uses is clamped except Vector. You can't even pull the hose off without glue once it's on the jet. Educate yourself. The contact surface area for the tube and the jet is 1000% higher than the barbed traditional jets and it's 100% contact.

It doesn’t seem near as power to a master spa. I’ve been doing my research.

i never used a master spa but i have a v94 and that foot jet aims up on mine, put all the power from 1 pump to that jet and it sends the water 18 inches above the surface of the water. if u put a foot on it u have to use 2 arms and the other foot to stabilize or it rolls u backwards. literally.

Most petty video on spas I’ve seen while shopping for my new spa. Make a true video about your product not tearing up your competitors video up. Sounds like you lost a lot of deals to a guy who is “wrong” about your product.

You're right! We are biased. We love Marquis spa. The difference is that we came out and said we love Marquis and that we sell them. We did not try to make this seem like an independent review.
