I frequently visit Russia. I have a CIS passport. I think she acknowledges she is very privileged. In Russia you have to play the game. You can't really be a big youtuber and show the dark side, criticise too much. But if you're from America you can understand when a millionaire does a video about their life. Understand that's easy for them to do. With a country you're unfamiliar with it's far harder. The average person in Tatarstan isn't visiting Australia for holidays. They are scratching out a life working on their vegetable plots at the weekends because they are struggling.

A higher percentage of Russians travel internationally for leisure than Americans do. Cost of living here is very low so Russians spend a higher percent of their income on socializing, travel, and culture than in in west. I have been in 92 countries and moved to Russia from USA 24 years ago and see Russians are much more likely travel than Americans because so few Americans can afford. The cost of living a more constrained life in the US is for the average family is so high, Russians have better quality of life, far more options and lower stress, very low crime, far more options. I am an expert in both living in Russia and US, and see Russia is more open,honest and humane with a constantly improving quality of life for average peope. The US is very violent, dishonest and corrupt with zero interest in improving the quality of life, doing nothing for the million who are homeless, the only and only works for the very wealthy.Quality of life for Americans of average status is poor. Cost of living is the highest in the world and government has not passed a law or program in 30years that benefited the average people. The foreign policy of the US is the most aggressive, having invade, regime changed countries all over the world and murdered over 27,000,000 people who did nothing to the US. Is there a single war or conflict in the world today that the US did not start or work to blowup. The US government lies about EVERYTHING and the corporate media and censorship is impacting everyone. Ask anyone in the world is the "Empire of Lies" and everyone knows what country is being referred to. How have YOU been restricted in Russia?

@@stanspb763 Firstly I don't live in the US. So the classic whataboutism doesn't really work on me. I live in Slovakia, my Father is Armenian so I also have an Armenian passport as well and with the CIS I don't need a visa for Russia so I have frequently visited. Compared to Slovakia, Russia is very very suppressive for instance you have a law that makes it illegal to publish "knowingly false information" about the Russian military and its operations, which basically is used to prosecute anyone who says bad things about the Russian military. Even on the internet. Especially the terrible killings in Bucha. Roskomnadzor insists all media outlets in Russia only publish information issued by the military information office. If you publish anything else your media licence gets cancelled and your journalists get arrested. Journalist Maria Ponomarenko got six years for just reporting on the Mariupol theatre airstrike for instance. The publishing of estimates of the numbers of deaths in the war is illegal. They even tried to ban the use of the word "war" in the media. Russian journalist Ivan Safranov got 22 years simply for writing a article on government corruption. To protest in Russia you have to get a permit and the police demand your details and can just say no. Russia has a gay propaganda law that bans entire books for adults. Here in Slovakia we even have a Russian friendly (I would say more neutral) government and many Russian friendly newspapers but we also have pro Western Newspapers and politicians too. In Russia name one newspaper that is pro Ukrainian that still operates in Russia? Name one politician in Russia who is pro Ukrainian? You can't because you live in such a repressive country. I get that the government might not be really concerned with what you say. Especially if they feel that you have a small audience which is manly outside Russia but the second you start being too loud they will arrest you. But as you live in Russia I guess you probably know that already.

There might be a bit of a cultural disconnect between Russia and Europe. This is just my theory, but to me it makes sense. Basically it all comes from geography. In Europe the land is quite fertile that allowed early nations to have pretty high density population. But that firtile land was in limited supply. So if you own a plot of land you hold onto it because if someone takes it from you, you are not going to find another one that is not occupied. So it formed this culture of ownership, and as a side effect of it a stranger would be seen as a potential intruder wanting to take what is yours. In Russia the situation was (and still is) quite opposite. Land is usually tough and to properly work it one family is hardly going to be enough. Like you probably can pull it off with next to no margin of error, but one bad month and you are in a death spiral. So you need to have a community so if you are temporarily down, other people can catch you and support you while you get back on your feet. But there is a lot of free land. If someone comes in and demands your land you just shrug, pack some essentials and move one forest over to settle anew. So in Russian culture the concept of ownership is much more laxed. And usually traceable to the attempts to imprint European culture onto local population by some ruler. And without this ownership fetishism, a stranger is much less likely to be seen as potential intruder.

Before the war I used to watch Russian streamers on youtube etc, then right when the war happened suddenly they're cut off from youtube income since nobody can donate to them, etc. I'm sure there's still russian streamers on other websites but it should have never had to come to this, it's created weird tension between russia and the west too, that makes it more uncomfortable for people from both sides. On the Russians side, you have the sanctions, ignorant people on the internet from western countries who just look for a russian person to gripe at, with there being westerners who see a regular russian just living life and telling them they need to go be a martyr and go against their government as if they can do anything about it. Meanwhile those people telling the Russians to go fight the government and get arrested or worse would not be willing to do it themselves. It was comical to me when I was watching NFKRZ channel before the war, to see how his channel comments changed after the war happened, suddenly you had new people coming to his channel just to yell at and blame a russian person for something he had nothing to do with. Then for Westerners, we can't really travel to Russia as easily now, and if we do there's a weird dynamic now where the police are more likely to think westerners are spies, Russians probably are being taught that westerners are bad, etc. Not at all Russians would think that obviously, but there are some Russian drunk guys etc who might take that to heart and try to cause trouble with you just because of where you're from

Ordinary people in Australia hate the Kremlin and military for invading Ukraine. We don't hate Russian people or want bad things to happen to Russia. The opposite, we'd like Russia to be a prosperous, egalitarian society, integrated with the rest of the developed world with a proper functioning democracy and a wealthy middle class. Aside from that most people in Australia don't really give much thought to Russian people, because it is so far away, hardly trades with us, and the Russian people have failed to make much effort to steer their government away from its expansionist, authoritarian policies. Как гражданин России, я напоминаю, что средний класс в России по словам бывшего президента России - это доход от 17000р(190$) в месяц на человека. Как зарегистрированный(пока еще) житель Вологодской области(наисреднейшая область в стране), ставлю в известность, что зарплата 45-50 тысяч в месяц(500-550$) - это зарплата выше среднего для жителя моего города. На семью из 3 человек с маленьким ребенком, где жена сидит дома/работает в пятерочке на кассе/учителем в школе/медсестрой в поликлинике, т.е. получает 0-30 тысяч в месяц - это и выходит бывшепрезидентский средний класс - в районе 17-25 тысяч на человека. Ипотека/аренда двушки 45 квадратов в Вологде - 20000 в месяц без учета коммуналки. Т.е. на все, включая одежду, еду, медицину, транспорт и т.п. у средней семьи остается примерно те самые 17000 на человека. Здоровому мужчине, если не жрать откровенный мусор вроде красной цены и жирозаменителей, требуется минимум 20-30 тысяч в месяц только на еду, при условии, что 100% еды готовится женой с нуля, а не покупается полуфабрикатами. А ведь еще жену и ребенка надо кормить. Билет на самый дальний маршрут(Москва-Владивосток, например). Стоит 25 тысяч в одну сторону на человека. Так куда вы там средним классом по России путешествуете? Разве что на картошку, чтобы зимой с голоду не помереть.

This girl by no means are spreding the Russian propaganda and therefore does not have any connection with the current Russian government. Since Elina is proficient in several languages her main source of income could be the job of the private English teacher. And modern means of communications are allowing to conduct the lessons at any place she visits. And I hope she gets some money also from KZbin monetization. May be.
