I personally think that people should cut the lady some slack. She is an amazing singer. I want to blame the people who managed her because they tired Leona's beautiful voice out. Leona also suffered from Hashimoto's disease and still continued performing while she's in the midst of it. I hate comparing her to other singers but Leona is one of those singers that will rarely lip sync a performance. If you think that Leona "lost" her voice and are no longer a "fan" because of all of the crap that has happened to her then good riddance. In my opinion, Leona is in no need of more fame and fortune. She is living her best life right now and as long as she's happy, I think we should all be happy.

For God's sake, Hashimoto's Disease just ia an underactive thyroid, which makes you feel tired. You take a tiny pill for it once a day and that fixes it. Certainly, wouldn't't hurt her voice. Kelly Clarkson has Hashimoto's disease too! There are way too many similarities with Kelly and Leona! Both are connected to Simon Cowell, both won Talent shows, both recorded A Moment Like This, both have Soprano voices, both can attain 4 octaves, 2012 was a phenomenal year vocally for both, both have Hashimoto's and both were born in April . The irony is too incredible to not mention! But most importantly I think both woman seem like great genuine women, good role models and outstanding vocalist!

Gosh, but Leona Lewis sang about two weeks ago and her voice appears to be returning. GG (Glennis Grace) vocal chops are still going strong after over twenty years even stronger. I pray they stay that way. Over use and viruses can effect the vocal cords. I'm glad to see Leona doing great with her vocals now though I'm sure she's being cautious.

People are such haters, back than, people would say her voice is too whiney and unpleasant to hear. Than they hear her current voice, now they want the old voice back. Like Leona said, she suffered from a "disease" And she couldn't do anything about it. Even though she can't maintain the vocals to sing her old songs like better in time, bleeding love, run, happy, and etc. She still can sing the songs, just not like she use to anymore. Also, she said once that she wanted to change some of the songs around, instead of sounding like the studio version. I also remember that she said in an interview about her Christmas album, that she doesn't want to overuse her voice when she has to sing the next day. So people, stop saying she can't sing because shes going through so many life changes and it's a new chapter for her. If you don't have anything nice to say about her voice, than stop watching her performances and look for another voice. We, Leona fans are here to support her singing career and accept her. The reasons you mention are true, but there are more: singing live for promoting Xmas with love while being really sick with laryngitis really, really cost her. She never recovered after that. Years of singing leona's songs with zero knowledge of proper singing technique got on me too. I finally mustered up the courage to take lessons since last year and the coaches knew right away I must have sung a lot of power ballads. They say that it's not too late for me but I feel sad for Leona, I wish she would have taken some time to take lessons too 😢 I really hope she's getting better each day and I wish to keep hearing her sing for a long time.

I know that Leona sings from her soul and her voice is beautiful. When I listen to her, her voice touches me in a way very few performers do. I don't sit there and analyze her voice. I enjoy her performance and I love that she doesn't lip sync at her shows. That is how you tell the true singers that just want to do the best for her fans, from the ones that are not. When I go and see a show, I don't want to go to a lip-synced performance. I might as well watch from home. It doesn't have to be perfect. No-one is all the time. If every singer sang at their concerts, they also wouldn't be perfect all the time, but it would be real and not a faked performance. That is what separates the greats from the good.

I love Leona's voice so much. Actually her voice already started to darken a bit in 2008 and by 2009/2010 her voice already sounded different (especially on the tour). I think her voice isn't really made for belting, listen to her sing in head voice: in head voice there is no strain, free sound, that's where her voice is comfortable and where she uses good and healthy technique. I am happy that her voice improved so much again in the last few years, for example I love her recent Bridge over Troubled Water performance.

SAME THING HAPPENED TO ALL LYRIC VOICED SINGERS WHO ABUSED THEIR VOICES....SHES WAAAAAAY TO CHESTY. It's my theory that more damage is done to lyric voices, than other voice types with a chest dominant mix. it happened to Mariah, Christina AND leona. (Celine woulve been included but she was smart and got more informed training and started using a headier mix) Lyric voices arent supposed to sound "big", yet all three singers aforementioned try and belt powerfully, damaging their voices over time. Another theory is that lyrice voices tend to naturally opt for falsetto instead of headvoice, (Ariana, Dinah, Christina, Leona out of bad habit etc...)Falsetto is just not good using it for long periods of time, and it disconnects the chords.Although all the singers mentioned have BEAUTIFUL falsettos, using that instead of headvoice is couterproductive to a healthy mix/belting technique. im not an expert by any means, but its just a trend ive seen over the years, where the most beautiful lyric voices+heavy falsetto users constantly pushing their chest voice and their voice deteriorates.

I think it's a combination of overusing her voice, being mentally unwell (she had a big confidence knock/was very unhappy with her label before leaving), being physically unwell (she gained a lot of weight in 2012/2013)/having an auto-immune disease of the thyroid which is right below the larynx and likely caused inflamation around there making it more difficult to sing, as well as not lip syncing when ill as much as she should have - she's sung live so many times when ill. In fact the video of run that is described as nasally back in 2011 in the above video she is ill. Whenever she is ill her voice becomes nasally and falsetto weak.

Great vid IAm LeonaLewis everything you said was spot on and hopefully this will help people understand more bout her current vocal condition. The only thing I felt was missing was more info bout her technique. Which imo was something Leona never perfected at all throughout her career. Not saying that her overall approach to singing was bad bc it wasn’t. I’m saying that she did have some major flaws in some areas that could’ve indeed been worked on and perfected over time. Mostly her upper belts. She always had a thin, pinched, and nasal approach when it came to belting pass a certain note. I believe that note she started to struggle on was an Eb5 if I’m not mistaken. Even prior to the nose surgery she had to get and being diagnosed with the disease she has. A lot of her upper belts weren’t as supported as much as they could’ve been. Her mid belts were more relax, open, resonant, and powerful. If she would’ve focused a lil bit on finding a way to make her upper belts as open, powerful, relaxed, and resonant as her mid belts than that could’ve helped her voice a lot in the long run. It’s not too late for her to do so too. I don’t hear any permanent damage in her instrument at all. She still have the ease in that area she just have to find a way to utilize more support and less of a nasal approach when belting. Again great job IAm LeonaLewis. Looking forward to more content from you my fellow Bun🐰.

That’s not how singing works at all. While different people use different techniques, there are general rules of technique that apply near universally. Leona obviously does not want to sound like she does now. It’s not her “real voice” finally coming out, it’s what comes out when she’s unable to produce sound the way she’s used to. I think it’s just very ingenious to pretend “she sounds this way now because she’s finally using her real voice”

I love her, for me she’s our British answer to Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey. That said, we need to stop comparing, expecting so much of her and being so judgemental towards her. When you look at the workload those tours put on her and the strain that must go on her voice, it’s not surprising she’s had health issues, and when she spoke out about it, I really felt a lot of compassion for her 🥺 People forget she’s a human being with feelings, and she feels physical and emotional pain like the rest of us! A female voice changed through out life, for instance a 13yr old girl will roughly have an octave range which increases when trained over the years the vocals calcifies at around 26 meaning the voice has reached maturity but then the voice can change after for the better or for worse due to hormones, thyroid complications, pregnancy, poly cystic ovarys etc…for example a high soprano may become a mezzo soprano after pregnancy or possibly a dramatic soprano and a mezzo may become a contralto after pregnancy equally so nothing might happen to the voice…in the worse case the voice can tarnish and become “bad” if the voice isn’t looked after, given time to recover or is improperly used over a long period of time, you can end up with nodules which can ruin the voice. the nose isn’t actually that important with trained singing infact it’s when you engage the nose that you sound nasally. I tell my students to do scales whilst pinching their nose closed, when done properly there should be no change in the singing when unpinching the nose. The nose isn’t completely useless though it just depends on what sound your wanting to produce, for instance musical theatre singing is more nasal and so air can travel through the nose but the overall nose shape doesn’t really effect that. However rhinoplasty isn’t good for singers, it’s part of the instrument regardless and if airflow has been hindered it will effect the singing, there for it is best not to mess around with it, infact plastic surgery isn’t great especially when they need to operate and put breathing tubes down your throat, this is obviously not healthy for the voice. My best guess with liona is her technique put to much emphasis on the vocals and she didn’t practice vocal health, warming up, warming down, over using the voice, hydrating the voice properly, getting enough sleep, not singing whilst sick Also she has had a child she may just need to change her rep Nope it’s thyroid… also thyroid medication can ruin the voice as well as other medications, when your a singer you need to research meds before taking them to make sure the voice is safe

It’s really simple. Leona was forced to use another voice while singing under her label with Simon... she wasn’t able to use her natural voice (which is raw earthy and soulful) she was told to be more pop and sing every note a certain way to emphasize her voice and make it more pop-like because she was told that that’s what people were gonna buy. And trust . If you listen to her now you can totally tell her vocal difference has nothing to do with the lack of discipline or talent but all to do with the fact that her natural voice SOUNDS nothing like the one she was told she would need to sell records. If you listen to her on X Factor she sounds like a young Leona... one year later if you listen to her debut she sounds more mature but not a natural kind of nature a forced kind of mature... and grew all of these vocal mannerisms that weren’t there in her X Factor days it’s so clear that the label would condition her to sing and use her voice a VERY specific way. And as her career progressed she slowly got away from using this voice. When you listen songs like ‘I See You’ and ‘Crying is Beautiful’ ‘I Know who I Am’ it doesn’t even sound anything like her it sounds forced and very pop-like and manufactured. When you listen to doings like ‘Hurt’ ‘Color Blind’ you can hear her natural voice TRYING to come out but held back by the vocal persona she has to uphold. And when you Listen to songs like ‘Thick Skin’ ‘The Best and the Worse’ and ‘We All Are (Looking for Home) you can hear her true voice and how natural is comes out and the Purity of it there is not metallic husky sharp undertone to it... if these attributes had been natural to her she would STILL have them just not be able to support them as well.... MAYBE. But you don’t just all of sudden change your voice because age... her entire tamber, texture and technique all changed after 2014 and it’s not because she sucked it was because THAT WAS NEVER HER VOICE IN THE FIRST PLACE. This happens all the time in the industry, they did it to Britney, and Ariana did it to herself.

Leona Lewis really reminds me of christina Aguilera they've both declined in their chest voice. I think it is a bit of a stretch to say it will never come back christina has been sounding really good recently and it didn't happen in a day and I feel leona will have the same fate because talent doesn't just disappear.

I think Leona Lewis has stopped singing high notes because I know she. Has( hashimoto diesase ) aging Her problem as she's grow up her chest voice is darker I'm proud of her 2018 her head voice is stronger and better and vibrato is less throaty And big improvement above C5 has. Less strain I'm happy of her she still sing yet

She had a nose job because these nasty people went in on her back in the day. They couldn't attack her voice so they went in on her looks. I have been a fan of hers since day dot and the nasty attacks on her appearance took their toll, it seems.

Her voice just mattured and she just need to adapt. I dont think nose surgery made big effect to her vocal chord but her nose was beatiful. Meybe she got nodules cuz overuse her voice. Like the other singer she got bad and good day
