Think more a rareity to find someone who hasn't had one. Even if we consider mouth cold sores sti as well because still same issues effect of herpes which can then cause issues if mouth touches other things. Plus most common virus we have without a huge embarrassing stigma around are herpes based already. So even if it is one of them has or had a std , it's not the end of the world. It sucks, ya. Agree with the above. This may explain why the antibiotics were not effective as HSV is a viral infection. I was in terrible pain and was running a fever almost constantly for a long time before I saw a doctor (she used to be a midwife) that took the time to look into what was happening and suggest it might be Crohn's disease. This may not be what you're dealing with, but it is worth exploring since so few doctors understand or know how to identify the vaginal impacts of Crohn's and vaginal issues can often be the first sign that you have the disease.

I had urethral stenosis which causes bad UTI like symptoms without infection. He stretched my urethra and now I have been symptom free for over 7 or so years. Urethral stenosis can be caused by history of stones, UTIs. It causes scarring and this can cause the urethra to narrow. I had bad spasms in my urethra as well. That was for the birds! The last time I was in the ER the nurses didn't believe I was having an allergic reaction to my new medication even though I was bright red, covered in hives, and my throat was closing. They thought that I had taken some sort of illicit drug and gotten a bad sunburn (I was a pasty white kid at the time.) Meanwhile, I was breaking out in hives everywhere, even on my nethers... which is the most bizarre feeling I've ever had. I felt like my whole body was erupting in painful tingling. They admitted me but all they gave me was saline. Thankfully, I was able to weather the rest of the reaction on my own. My throat was the scariest part but it stopped at feeling like I had a huge lump in there and eventually went down. Being underaged, the most frustrating part was not being able to advocate for myself. I was so confused by their treatment that I didn't even try to argue, just let them treat me however they wanted. I'm glad there wasn't a worse outcome. I have a family member who is a nurse and she has all the empathy of a toilet brush so I'm not all that surprised. I guess I'm more surprised that it happens so often. Never stop asking for what you need!

Make sure you ALWAYS pee and wash up well after, even if all you want is to cuddle, you can do that after. I knew my husband was the one right away. We both had really tough things happen in our lives and two years of dating. Soon after we started dating, we found out my birthday would fall on his brothers (destination) wedding. He couldn't stand the thought of me being alone, so he asked for his parents permission and personally called my father to ask his permission to take me. I met his entire family, and they were so kind to me. This falls under happy stuff. A few weeks later his grandmother passed away. I didn't know what to do, but I made him cookies and a card and offered to give him space if that's what he needed. Later that year, my physical disability gave me some flare ups, one of which led me to the ER. He stayed by my side the whole time. We didn't get home until 5 am. He kept in contact with my family. We stayed by each other's side when we switched majors, and when my sister almost successfully ended her life. I fell completely apart and he saw the horrible raw version of me and still stayed. I think it's good to have hard things in the beginning, it helps you know how they will be under stressful situations, and how you will be as well. Best of luck!

If you were not consenting to continue a procedure and the nurses continued, that may be battery depending upon your jurisdiction. Your trauma response was completely understandable. You're not a "weird" case. You had legitimate pain and anxiety - hospital staff need to work with you on that. I got a herpes virus from a past boyfriend's cold sore that he had inside his mouth. (I hope you can imagine what I am not allowed to say on YT as to how it happened!) I had very similar symptoms: felt ill, had a fever, and burning with urination. I was lucky that it cleared up on its own and never recurred. That boyfriend and I learned to avoid "activity" when he had another cold sore. Also, when I was married to my late husband, I used to get these smelly infections called bacterial vaginosis. He had no symptom of it. Though it is not classified as an STI, it can still be spread that way. Never had that with any other partner, before or since. Thankfully, a round of antibiotics takes care of BV! Just my experience... I have chronic mental and physical illnesses. I certainly have run into my fair share of mean medical professionals in my life. So, I hear you! Brightest Healing Wishes! 🤗💜 ~ Anastacia in Cleveland
