thank you for talking it out with me on twitter and actually admitting your mistakes, im proud of you. I just hope you'll keep on to your words, and probably become a great animator in the future hell, those tracings might even teach you a thing or two about animating process that can help you out just remember that tracing is FINE as long as you're doing it in the sake of studying. I trace alot and learned new things out of those but when you publicize it in your work, even if you credit the original animator, it could be damaging for them All that aside, i look forward to see you improve!

Hell, there are tons of artists on KZbin that copy anime fight scenes too, including character designs, at least this guy reskin them into his own characters and story. At the end of the day, he pieced together something new for all of us to enjoy. People need to remember, this is some regular dude with a tablet, not some professional animation studio. He didn't do anything illegal or wrong.

To be frank as an anime fan I immediately recognized a lot of the traced scenes from the original combat gods but I honestly didn't care if they were traced or not. As you can see in the of combat gods description all of the artists where credited and the compilation of all of the animations is what made it unique to me atleast.

As much as I can admit the video is good, it's effect seems very lacklustre. This apology, sadly just gave way to more people enabling and defending the theft of hard working animator's work. He admitted it was traced, and side by side comparisons show the animation was identical, which means it was almost certainly traced. This is considered theft among animators, and is not...not a reputable thing. That being said, he's owned up to his past. Let's see him become better, both as an animator, and as a person, in the near future. Honestly, it would make my day.

Combat gods was always about the mass collection of badass fighting moments. Traced or not, the fight scene is additive and includes some of the top fighting moments from some of my favorite animators, all combined into 1 awesome package. I'm honestly thankful for the trace work you did, so you could string together a more complex and badass scene... Lots of fight scenes are 2-3 minutes long so ya I dig it.

Because when the trailer came out there was a kickstarter (apparently started by someone else?) which advertised the involvement of other animators who were NOT involved in the project, and it raised over $5000. That was complete fraud, which kicked up old dirt of his first God of War had a ton of copied/traced animations but he had previously denied that they were traced, essentially claiming credit for other people's work. The tracing itself isn't a big deal. But when you added on the denials, not crediting the original scenes, and then the kickstarter advertising animators to create false hype and trick people into supporting it---that created a really bad impression. But it's all good now. Props to Jhanzou for standing up and clearing the air. Too many people would have doubled down and denied everything.

Saw this years ago, alongside Combat Gods, came back and remembered this today so I thought I'd throw in some very late thoughts. I thought it was like, ABUNDANTLY obviously that the scenes were either copied or traced - and I didn't care. I thought people would recognize it as some kind of tribute, which was how *I* interpreted it; despite never watching Naruto or any of the other referenced media, I could TELL it was from something else - and that just made it so much cooler that you were able to reinterpret that fight into your own art style, combined with other scenes. It was just amazing. The monetization and the Kickstarter issue, yeah those suck, but I think if anyone thought there was some kind of plagiarism going on because of the traced scenes, they really gotta calm for a minute and maybe just, like, read the description of the damn video. Anyways, excellent work, look forward to seeing more :)

I saw this it first came out, I was 13 at the time and I was confused about what was being said as I was grades behind in school about 4 behind and my reading/writing skills sucked. well I finally came back and watched it again and I understand now............ and it's a lot to take in lol but thank you for being honest and I hope combat gods 2 is still being made, thank you for sharing your skill of stitching traced frames together so perfectly...
