Technically he was fired for violating company rules and starting a relationship with one of his employees. Ned was in a position of power over Alex, and she could now say she was coerced and sue Ned AND the company if they fire her. Sure, the guys love Ariel and the kids, but that's not why they fired Ned. He just put the whole company at incredible risk. I think Alex will quit on her own (I can't imagine ever wanting to go back to an office where everybody knows I slept with the boss), but legally the company can't fire her unless they want a lawsuit on their hands. She could say she was coerced into a relationship, and that the company fired her in retaliation. IF Alex sues, this of course creates a dangerous precedent for the company. Other employees could do the same in the future if they ever get fired or feel they were treated unfairly. One look at the company and any judge will see sexual misconduct/coercion/abuse of power/retaliation in its history. Ned didn't just fuck up his marriage. The whole company is risking everything right now. That's why he was fired.

I always find the "position of power" argument to be a red herring when this is nothing like a Harvey Weinstein style case. Alex doesn't look like a coerced party in any of the evidence and previous videos show her to be pining after him. The fact that they weren't hiding swapping spit proves this. The position of power argument in this case doesn't really apply. Basically, the way people are pseudo-defending Alex in this is kind of like excusing a soldier for a war crime by saying "just following orders". People have agency and they need to be held accountable as such.
@nenegrey22822 жыл бұрын
@@louisbaker4362 I'm not talking morality, but legality. Legally, he was in a position of power over her. iirc in one of their podcasts he guys even mentioned that relationships with employees are illegal. Alex is under fire but it could have been Rachel or YB or any other woman working for Ned, the result would be the same: it's unacceptable. I believe Alex has left the company of her own volition at this point, but if the guys fired her, she could sue them or Ned. How can you say position of power doesn't apply here? Have you listened to all of their conversations? Read all of their texts? Alex could be the biggest cheater in the universe, but we still have no way of knowing how this relationship started. For all we know, Ned could have pressured Alex in one way or another, or promised a raise. Did Ned let Alex create The Food Babies (2 years ago) as a way to convince her to start a relationship (allegedly over 1 year ago)? We have no way of knowing unless Alex actually sues him and all their interactions are made public during a trial. And that's why Ned had to be fired. He set a very dangerous precedent and put the whole company at risk. Unless you're a judge deciding on the case after analysing all the evidence, saying "doesn't look like a coerced party" means absolutely nothing. I'm sure that the guys are against cheating from a moral standpoint, especially because they love Ariel and the kids so much. But that's not why they fired Ned. They fired him because he broke company rules and put them all in jeopardy. That's all I was saying in my original comment. Had he cheated with someone outside of the workplace, I believe he would still be part of the Try Guys. Maybe they would have cut ties to save face if the story broke out, but legally, they would have had no reason to fire him. I don't consider an illegal workplace relationship to be as bad as soldiers killing people, the comparison is far too exaggerated 😅 I suggest you watch the SNL skit they made about this, I think you'd like it since you don't see the gravity of the situation. They seem to have nothing against a boss having a relationship with an employee, basically waving off all concers about abuse of power.

I'm gonna say something that I wanted to for years now, but never did because I knew people would come after me in the comments with "you're just jealous you don't have that", "don't be bitter", and so on. I never bought into his whole "my wife" thing and always, always saw it as him overcompensating for something. Idk for what - for him being a cheater and trying to hide it (who's to say this is the first time?), for him not actually being that happy and not having such a perfect relationship he was trying to portray, or something else - but I always found it to be a bit too much and at times insincere. I know some people are very open with how much love they have for their partner and want to scream it to the world at all times, but when compared to other Try Guys' relationships I always saw it as more of a brand and throwing on a show than actual honest feelings and an indication of his personality. In my experience, when someone seems too good to be true, even in their behavior towards you, they almost always are. Ofc, none of this is to say that if you have a partner that does similar things that they aren't being truthful, but in a lot of cases that's what it is, and for whatever reason I always felt that that's what it was with Ned. I'm so sorry for what happened and I hope Ariel and the kids can move forward and find piece and happiness in spite of all this. Ned, you disappointed everyone. Do and be better! Edit: One more thing, I also never liked how he mostly referred to Ariel as only "his wife". It does indicate closeness, love and can be really endearing if not overused, but since it most certainly was in his case, to me it read as possessive and reducing her whole being to only that one aspect. Did you notice how Keith almost always says "Becky"? It would make sense for Ned to only call her his wife if we never "met" her, but since the fanbase already knows who Ariel is that usually left a sour taste in my mouth.

I just thought it was really pathetic of him to call it a “consensual workplace relationship.” Adam did the same thing I can’t remember word for word but neither of them just said “I had an affair.” They minimized it in such a sad manner. *Edit:* common sense is apparently not so common! I said his apology seemed like more of a legal statement. Not that Alex wasn’t to blame or that it was unconsensual. People with incurable savior complexes felt the need to share that so to avoid responding to each and every brain dead “well it was consensual” comment… I’ve made an edit. I feel SO sorry for Alex's (ex?) fiancé Will. As noted in the trying on wedding dresses video, she talked about how they started dating in high school, and had been together 10 years before he finally proposed. She couldn't stop gushing about how amazing he was, and she even moved to Hawaii during collage for him. She also featured in the 'Try Guys try Bridesmaids Dresses' video, where the three guys (minus Eugene,) had to each buy a bridesmaids dress for YB, Maggie (Zach's fiancé,) and Alex to compete for the role of maid of honour.

@KittyEars&Headbands its because he is her superior/supervisor and she was his employee. We made a pact to never cheat but break up if we weren’t compatible anymore or wanted to sleep around. We’re coming up on 9 years together soon and he’s my best friend and my life partner and we want to grow old together. It scares me when people throw that away for a few mins of sex. My dad always said when you cheat in your marriage, you’re not just cheating on your SO but you’re cheating on your whole family. He cheated his kids along with his wife.
