Eh, not really. Love Keith but Becky had the baby, she disappeared for quite a few months, and Keith probably took a paternity leave and just pre-filmed. They usually pre-film moths ahead of time and schedule out when the content is released. Keith very likely did an extra video here and there to keep up with the release schedule without seeming like he was gone.

@@LoryBelle they talked about this in you can sit with us, Keith worked a lot. If I remember correctly even when they were waiting for Henry to leave the hospital. Not every situation is ideal, I actually think filming js the simplest of his tasks bc he is one of the owners

As a woman whose body did not make milk, I am SO happy to hear her say "fed is best". So many people told me to just keep trying. It was horrible and they made me feel like the worst mother ever.

I agree. It was so difficult with my oldest (very painful) that I supplemented with formula and was made to feel terrible because it wasn't strictly breastmilk. I got to the point (once I wasn't quite so tired) that I was kind of telling people off. "Look, she's hungry and I'm hurting. I'm going to make sure she's fed even if that means I have to use formula. So zip it."

My lil brother couldn't eat breastmilk so it was hard for my mum to hear that it was horrible for feeding him formula.. when the doctors also said to do so.. She is not wrong, as long the baby is fed. They're solid. Everyone has different issues where it may not allow them to breastfeed and this was very nice to see as well.

My older sister was premature by a month, and just a lazy baby who refused to breastfeed. Mom’s pediatrician refused to admit that anything but strictly breastfed was okay, and my sister just kept losing weight. So finally mom just gave up and started feeding formula, and my sister ate well and started to thrive. For me, it was a new pediatrician in a new state and no shame about feeding a mix of breast milk and formula. This was the mid/late 1980s, modern efficient breast pumps didn’t exist.

Same here, my daughter came 8 weeks early and we lived at the NICU the entire time and it was the worst and most stressful time of my life. I did everything i could i even talked to lactation experts who said i did all i could. I never pumped enough, my daughter was too small to breastfeed, it was a mess. I hope i will have better luck next time because i want to experience what it's like to breastfeed!

Even though I gave birth more recently, at a time when "fed is best" is really the motto, I was also devastated. I had preeclampsia, too, and then I went full eclampsia after delivery. Then the hospital used a cleanser on the pump to which I had a terrible allergic reaction, and to top it off since I'm type 1 diabetic everyone was already nervous about whether my supply would last. While the important thing is that we both survived, and I logically knew that, I'd actually had a great supply until that point, and to have it sort of snatched away by fate was hard. I imagine you felt similarly... Even though it was 10 years ago for you, I am proud of you for taking care of your own health and your baby's needs

Within my own extended family various ladies have tried breastfeeding. The results were 1) Breastfeeding worked. 2) No milk, and formula was the only option (no such thing as lactation consultants or donor milk at the time). 3) Not enough milk, so formula supplement. 4) Baby was medically intolerant of breastmilk and "normal" formula, so they required a prescription/special formula. 5) Mother had to stop breastfeeding for their own mental health. In all of those cases, the babies involved are either healthy kids or are grown adults. Some of those grown adults have children/grandchildren of their own. My point is as long as everyone involved is healthy, fed, and relatively sane, do what works for your situation.

Thank you for this comment! ❤This is just how it works, but mothers are often shamed no matter what they do. I had problems getting enough milk in the beginning and had to use supplements the first four months. So many told me to give up and go on formula all time. I’m glad I persisted, and it eventually worked more than fine. But that was for me personally. I would never tell someone else to neither start or stop or continue breastfeeding, that’s up to each individual’s circumstance’s. Just get your baby fed and they’ll be happy.

This is such a great comment!! When I was a baby I was just like the 4th outcome and had to be on specialized soy formula. It’s always annoying and hurtful to see all the “breast is best” nonsense when being breast fed wouldn’t have made me smarter or stronger or healthier, I would’ve just died from dehydration and malnutrition because I couldn’t digest any of the nutrients or even keep the milk in my body. It also creates so much unnecessary shame for parents. 😔

@@annelialin9646 I supplemented until my babies were weaned and no longer wanted to breastfeed, so I feel you there. We had our daughter earlier this year and my husband has been the greatest help with breastfeeding. When we were in the hospital and struggling to get colostrum going, he watched the lactation specialist and how they were able to do manual pumping, and then he helped me with it. I couldn’t do the manual pumping - really struggled with it. But he was able to see the technique more clearly and could do it for me. Then he was able to feed our daughter the colostrum through a syringe. Then once my milk came in, I got a case of mastitis a few weeks later and my husband was again the most supportive person ever. I was laid up in bed for a couple of days. He took care of the rest of the baby care and made sure I was fed and looked after. I had to keep nursing to try and clear the blockage and pump to help it too, and he helped me through all of that. He makes sure the pump is all cleaned out after every session and he feeds our daughter with the expressed milk when we aren’t doing a breast feed. For anyone who isn’t the lactating parent, there is so much you can do to help your partner in the journey. We are 8 months into breastfeeding, and it’s been amazing. Much easier to do with encouragement and support from a partner ❤

I used to be a nursing mom- and I remember once, in a sleep-deprived haze, I accidentally poured a bag of thawed breastmilk down the drain. Like 6oz. I cried so hard. XD That represented so much time and energy, and conscious thought. Another time I was invited to a show up in Boston with friends, and I went- but I had to bring a manual pump and a cooler bag and we made a stop on the way so I could pump in a Dunkin Donuts bathroom. LOL. I saw the whole show with a cooler bag of milk under my seat. Breastfeeding is... wild. Like a fever dream.

Also the thing with becoming a mom is that, it's for life, it's not like a Netflix one month trial which you can unsubscribe, it's not something you buy and can return to the store, or it's not like a job that you can just quit if you hate it. You can't quit parenting, you're stucked with it FOR LIFE. So I cannot imagine becoming a mom unless I feel a "true calling" for it (which I absolutely don't haha).

You guys have no idea how this video helped me cope with breastfeeding 💖(and even more with pumping). I recently gave birth, and no one told me that breastfeeding and breast pumping can be so painful. I pumped with my hands all evening yesterday, removing stagnation in the milk ducts and it hurt...a lot...And now, early in the morning, they brought my baby and after her feeding I turned on your video. It gave me joy and oxytocin and calmed me down 😌 Now I can pump my breasts without that much of a pain. You guys are awesome

This video is so good for showing the emotional toll that keeping to this schedule and having outside commitments can have, and that’s without all the other challenges of looking after a baby constantly!

Hot take: Our society needs to massively adjust to make breastfeeding easier, because there *are* benefits to breast milk, but putting the pressure on individual parents needs to STOP. Breast milk is not more beneficial than a healthy, comfortable, and less stressed parent.

It's SO HARD and people really don't understand, so I'm glad this video give a little glimpse. I especially love that they included pumping in a car. I joke that I've pumped on planes, trains, and automobiles (plus many many more locations). That was so realistic.

Thank you guys SO much for trying this and using your platform to make the public more aware of the trials of pumping! I exclusively pumped for 11 months. I had such an insane oversupply that I had to regularly donate two thirds of my supply because we always ran out of room in our freezer. At my supply's peak I made ~90oz of milk PER DAY. I lost a lot of weight to an uncomfortable degree, and ultimately stopped pumping for my mental and physical health. My kiddo was well-fed and she's doing great now, but my gosh it was a lot to endure! And I would (and probably will) do it again!

High five to a fellow exclusive pumper! My little guy was growth restricted and too small and weak to develop a good latch at a crucial time, but I really wanted to give him breast milk so I EPed for the first five months of his life. It's a journey that not a lot of people talk about, even in spaces dedicated to discussing parenting, and I'm so glad you brought it up here. Cheers and best wishes to you on the rest of your breastfeeding journey!
