Well it was a good run. I'll always miss the mid 2010s era when I'd listen to the TTV podcast every week. It brought me a lot of joy in some very hard times during my life. For all the ups and downs over the years, I do think you ask should be proud of what you created with this podcast. It was truly something special. -LQ

Being a bionicle fan is such a bitter thing, its like vainly grasping at a dying light. Its over, and it's been over for a long time, watching everything slowly being shut down, watching its relevancy slowly fade into nothingness as more and more people have no knowledge of it, and even less people actually care anymore. it must be stubbornness, that drives me continue to be a fan of bionicle, perhaps even a bit of spite or anger that keeps me from letting it go, anger that i wasn't able to experience it when it was in its prime, that I regrettably didn't become a fan until after it ended. I guess nothing lasts forever, but somehow it feels more unfair for bionicle, like it could have been so much more, not just a great lego theme, but a great story, a story that could last, a story that would not be forgotten. But the past is the past, I'm sure we all would have done at least a few things differently had we known then what we know now. Maybe its best we leave it in the past, remember it, of course, but let it rest as just a little dreamlike blip in history, known by a dwindling few... like a legend, the Legend of the Bionicle.

I technically didn't grow up with Bionicle either but it's because of fans like the people behind the Biomedia Project and others posting tribute videos set to edgy rock music that let me get into it in spite of that and I appreciate that so much I think it captivated me both because all the promotional material has this inherent mystique to it but also because I hadn't learned to speak english at the time so that made me even more willing to seek out knowledge about it I try to preach to people why I love the franchise but I think I ultimately just have to accept that it was a product of its time and appreciate that it at least existed in some way shape or form at all

The end of an era! I totally get that though, it's hard to keep up with stuff like this when life gets in the way. And since you mentioned the BZPower wipe, it would be really cool to see a podcast or discussion about some of the lost bits of the Bionicle fandom. Stuff like how everyone reacted to the announcement of a 7th Toa, or some of the early fan theories and creations. You'd be at the mercy of your memories of course, but I'd still be curious to see what y'all remember.

I will always have a very soft spot for the podcast, and for the channel. I remember wanting so much to be like the lot of you, wanting to create content like you. At the end of it all, my life took me in a very different direction, just like many of you guys have run into. I was in high school when the G2 Era of the channel raged on, and somehow I’ve already graduated college and am about to get married. But, if it means anything, you were and remain a big source of inspiration. I find myself making references to the podcast regularly. Thanks, guys, for all you’ve done over the years. I know I can’t be alone in saying it’s meant a lot.

LEGO could have kept BIONICLE going if they had learned from Hasbro and Transformers, which arguably has a lot of overlap with BIONICLE fans. Heck, they could still keep it going. I do not think bad sales killed BIONICLE. I think the expectations LEGO has for themes following the LEGO movie and the various licensing deals they pay out to killed BIONICLE. They want to have their cake and eat it to. They want to push out minimalist stories with minimalist advertising while having the success of a deep story theme like Ninjago. It just is not logically coherent and you can tell the shareholders and the guys at the top are holding LEGO back as an entire brand.
@BrianAnkokuboshi7 ай бұрын
I agree with this, but Lego is a privately traded company, and as such has no shareholders interfering with their business.
@PlasticToa7 ай бұрын
g2 's "minimalist advertising" was allegedly down to the advertising budget getting funneled into Ninjago rebooted. Ninjago was originally intended to end with the 2013 "final battle" wave, but was revived after a MASSIVE consumer backlash to the cancellation announcement. The money needed to come from somewhere, and Bionicle's budget, for whatever reason, was seen as expendable.

No. Bionicle ending is the best thing that could happen to it. Having it run indefinitely just to continue would devalue the story.

It doesnt help cause TTV is also an acronym for an Indian news channel, it overlaps a lot. Also, we expected this for years ever since the main gang left. This is a bit disheartening for me, personally, because I've only returned to Bionicle and Lego in general very recently. I've known you guys as pillars of the community but I completely understand your decision, burnout is a killer and as people grow they get interested in many different things. Should the TTV channel ever end, would it not make sense to move the BIONICLE content to KTP, the channel you're trying to grow?
@PlasticToa7 ай бұрын
the entire reason they branched KTP off of TTV was that the latter had a large base of subscribers who were only interested in bionicle content, and didn't watch any of the system stuff. Thus, most of their subscribers weren't watching the system content, making it less likely to get picked up by the KZbin algorithm. If they started putting out Bionicle content on KTP, they'd just be bringing the same issue over to their new channel.

I still enjoy rewatching videos like the Messo and Eljay let's plays every so many years. Will those just be gone, or will the KZbin channel still exist for posterity and nostalgic fans that want to rewatch old content? Edit: This is what I get for commenting halfway through the video.
