I feel the one problem with this myth is the idea that people liked Twitter. Like don’t get me wrong Twitter got worse after Musk took it over, but before even before the take over Twitter had a reputation for being a cesspit of the most miserable and self important people letting out the most bile that their character limit would allow. I love the fact that the last person referred to Tumblr and Twitter as "them" instead of "he" like the others, which I feel is more fitting for a number of reasons: 1) Social medias don't have a gender 2) You can interpret the love story as whatever sexuality you want, unlike the others that made it inherently homosexual because Tumblr, since social medias (usually) pride themselves on being able to speak up about different opinions, and thus allowing for more interpretation is sinonymus to giving more freedom 3) If you want to abandon the third person neutral singular use of "they" and instead think of it as third person plural, you could say that it's used because the two sites are made up of many people rather than being a single entity

Twitter changed into the attire given, a plain black suit that felt much more stuff and uncomfortable than the lavish robes he was used to. His companion gave annoyed chirps, displeased by seeing its godly keeper wear such a thing. “I know, I know,” the god said, “I don’t like it either, but I have no other options. You will not be able to nest in this stuffy suit, but my shoulder will always be a suitable perch for you.” The bird was displeased, but willing to perch atop the shoulder of its god regardless. Twitter stepped out and stood before the man once again. The mortal clapped his hands together, “perfect, this look is much better suited for you. Don’t you agree?” With the snap of his fingers a servant arrived with a mirror. Twitter stared into the reflection, the image staring back looked unfamiliar, utterly lacking in vibrancy and liveliness. At least he could recognize the vibrant blue feathers of his sacred animal. As he marveled at the animal’s beauty, Twitter noticed in the reflection that a hand neared the bird, and before the god could react the hand snatched the bird from its perch. The god spun around to face the man that held his bird in his hand, the man who he was in servitude to. “What is the meaning of this!?” Twitter’s voice shook the ground with his anger, but the mortal seemed unamused. “This creature is unsightly, it will damage your image to be seen with such vermin.” “That ‘vermin’ is my sacred animal! The very symbol of my divinity! His chirps carry and deliver my messages far and wide! He is a part of who I am, I would not be the same god without him at my side.” The man’s expression did not falter, he looked at the god as if he was a child throwing a tantrum. Then, a slight smirk grew on the man’s face as his hand clenched tighter, eliciting pained chirps from the bird. “Then, if that is the case, here marks your rebirth. Funny thing about the Persephone myth is that it's older than Hades. (Traces of it being found from before we know Hades to be codified in the Illias) It is really interesting espacially because the similar structure of a god saving another from the underworld can be traced back to Ishtar and that tue mystery cult that performed reenactments of Persephone's decent into underground was well a mystery cult. Meanung we know the practice a bit espacially from art, but not its full extent. You don't need Hades for the myth to really work if you think about it. He's basically just a means in that story to get her to the underworld. So it's always interesting how much emphasis is put on HIM specifically during modern retellings and analysis. Makes you wonder how in the future the myth of Twitter and tumblr will be looked and what parts get added or recontextualized

The Story of Steam would be the equivilent of the Wise Master of martial arts who sits upon a stone at the top of a mountain, seemingly doing nothing. Occasionally a traveller or vain student would climb the mountain and confront them, claiming that if they defeat them they may become the master of the mountain, and they surely their superiority is innate as Steam is simply sitting there! Each time, without ever initiating or actually fighting the opponent, Steam defeats them simply by allowing the opponent to make mistakes until they fall all on their own. Steam merely states to those that fall to them, that each challenger focused simply on trying to defeat the opponent, rather than truly seek to understand what the arts they seek to master are. The Moral of the story is, not to overfocus on being "better" than others or losing oneself to hubris, and instead to seek a humble comprehension of that which one wishes to master, and in so doing one shall naturally achieve success.

It requires a specific skill set that is more common in fanfic circles than other writing circles. Fanfic writers, skilled ones, are both writers and media analysts. They must know what made up the original work to maintain a consistent tone or character voice despite not being the original author. Fanfic sensibilities are the reason we ever get decent sequels. Also it’s a very human impulse to want to work with the building blocks of stories we’ve heard growing up to build our own. It’s our cultural heritage, the stories we grew up on. I mean that’s how we got Dante’s Devine Comedy, Paradise Lost, Romeo and Juliet, and the Lord of the Rings. Every work is built from something that preceded it, with a pinch of life experience and new observation to keep it from going stale.

Originality is absent in fanfic, it is made by people who don't have original ideas so they mooch off of the hard work of other people. Of course, nothing is truly original, but that doesn't excuse actively making things that aren't original, knowing that you are just building off somebody else's work and calling it something you made.
