Who cares if people talk smack about the engine blowing 😂 I remember I built a 5.3 for my obs swap and I cheaped out on buying new lifters and used the old ones. One month after install a lifter started ticking hard and I didn’t feel like pulling the heads of just to change lifters so I swapped a 6.0 and put the 5.3 aside for another project. About a year later I bought a 2000 ws6 trans am with a blown ls1 (threw a rod and destroyed the block and both heads) so I decided to swap the 5.3 in. Tore the motor down and put it back together and swapped it…… since it sat a whole year I forgot about the bad lifter and put it back in without even checking them. That was the last time I was lazy when building an engine cuz it sucks to do it more then once 🤣 live and learn

There's a lot off camera that doesn't get seen. We had the truck up to temp idling many times before taking it down the road. And this is the type of issue that even if we drove it nice and gently never going past 30% throttle it would've happened anyway lol

Thats just the nature of hot rods. I know a guy down the road from my dad who doesn't race his car at all, sbc Malibu, and he's on his 2nd engine in 2 years, and had it rebuilt already. Had a 350, went to a 406. Put that in and it started to eat something. Pulled it back out and had to go through it again.
