yeah when that water pump stops turning the coolant in the head gets hot faster than the sensor will tell you! still looked like an absolute blast and i would think that head may be warped, considering how the rocker shaft was going through it. also the 84-85 318i curb weight is listed as 2365 lbs a 325is is listed at 2864, hard to believe that could be accurate until you drive them both

giving the people what they want! great to see some uninterrupted POV laps on hpr with lap timer. I am hoping to get the melon out to hpr for a test day something this spring in prep for the june 24h race. I'll let you know when we get that scheduled. Cooling problems are some of the reason I don't want to bring my 325ix stroker turbo out to hpr

Awesome content. Love the lap timers. You should do mini walk around videos with Your buddies cars too. Would love to get some specs on suspension for your and nicks e30s and other “track” oriented mods. Keep the vids coming.

Doing a track day on a road course is one of my favorite things. I used to do Second Creek a long time ago ,but have yet to drive High Plains even though I have the car for it. It's too bad that thing keeps blowing head gaskets,but maybe third time will be the charm? Those redrilled wheels on that car looked Super sketchy, esp for use on a trackday.
@DENVERBEERANDOIL2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's a project car, I'm going to have teething issues, but I won't give up on it. Those wheels aren't redrilled, they are dual drilled, that's how the come.

I had a chassis mount shifter on my E30 for a bit and it was nearly impossible to downshift into 2nd on track, and required a lot more precision and effort in all other gears, ended up just being super distracting. Getrag 260's just don't seem to shift nicely anyways, so paired with the chassis mount it felt pretty terrible honestly. Went back to a carrier mounted setup and it was way better.
@DENVERBEERANDOIL2 жыл бұрын
This Maxpeedingrods chassis mount shifted great, I decided to shorten the throw and I made it too short, just need to lengthen it a little bit and it should make it easier again.

You run a standalone. Add a “if xx coolant temp, it reduces timing drastically” so you feel it and catch it. I mean, you don’t have a spare e30 dash to throw in it so you’re not driving around with no gauges? To me, the loss of a track day and constantly redoing the same work would piss me off.
@DENVERBEERANDOIL2 жыл бұрын
That's a good idea, but not sure the K-Data can pull timing with temp. I just need to throw some digital gauges in it. Water pump shares a belt with the alternator, so a volt gauge would tell me when I lose the belt.
@Rebel635csi2 жыл бұрын
@@DENVERBEERANDOIL I have a kdata too (thanks for letting us know about them). I’ll look it up and see how it can be setup. I know other MS2extra based standalone can
@Rebel635csi2 жыл бұрын
@@DENVERBEERANDOIL Looked into it. There is no direct "CLT = timing" table, BUT if you look at the REV limiter settings, you can set a CLT (coolant) temp rev limit change. Once you activate it, gotta find the table that will let you alter the RPM limit vs CLT. There you go. Make it cut out at 2500 rpm or so if its overheating.

What'd you do to bypass the factory AFM and IAC? I'm going to be using a megasquirt as well and I've read that I can use a GM IAT sensor. I'm boosting my E30 so I'm just curious on how you set it up.
@DENVERBEERANDOIL2 жыл бұрын
You use the gm IAT and the built in map sensor in your Mega Squirt to eliminate the maf. The IAC can be deleted even with the stock ecu, just helps with cold starts.
