Worse than that... the owner (or President) at the time, Paul Mooney, actually came to the exercise room to ask Bobby if he knew what the offer was. Mooney must've been so shocked at the refusal from Eagleson that he naturally (and correctly) assumed that Orr must not have known what the offer was fully. Orr said that he told Mooney not to come between him and his agent. Probably the biggest mistake with Eagleson aside from hiring the guy and recommending he'd be the new NHLPA head.

Great video! I'm reading the book ICE STORM about the 2011 Vancouver Canucks and it talks a bit about Mike Gillis, before he became a player agent, taking Eagleson to court in the '90s. Using his law school degree, Gillis sued Eagleson for ripping off his disability insurance and won!

Noel Price and 80+ other hockey players stood up and were counted as victims of crime. The only revision to history came when the light was shone on who Alan Eagleson really was, while he was alive- thats how he was convicted of criminal offences, lost his HOF and OoC honours, was disbarred, and had to move to England for his own safety.

Part of the reason the Flames left Atlanta is because Tom Cousins, the Flames owner found out about Eagleton and tried to get the other owners to do something, but they refused and Cousins, figuring someone was doing to jail, bailed.

Loved your explanation of the turbulent times of Alan Eagleson in your video. It was done in laymen terms , so armchair quarterback , like me, can understand and reflect. Still, have the image of Game 8 Summit Series, of the Team Canada players, most of them his clients, getting Eagleson out of the stands to the players bench. Fingers up, shaking fist, over a goal judges call. You can see his power in influencing the game. His corrupt power, thinking he's right, and the Russian were tampering with the systems. As a kid, 15 years old, I thought the Russians were mean and dishonest. The Russians counted the tying goal, Yvan Cournway goal. But, he shows the coming of Eagleson turbulent and corrupt life. Felt so sorry, for slimming so much from Bobby Orr's contracts and pension funds, and Orr treating him like a dad. Inviting on fishing trips, to family dinners. Not, telling if he was part owner, trading Orr to black hawks for multi thousands , for padding Eagleson's pocket. A real sleaze bucket, all for greed, dishonesty, and power. Alan did give power to players contract,s and life in NHL but took them for everything. Faust giving his soul to the devil, got a better deal.

There's a book called "Offside" that provides all the gruesome details of Eagleson, the definition of the description Slimeball. The stunts he pulled on Bobby Orr, his first and most loyal client, were incredible. There were many others, this video just scratches the surface. Guy should have been in prison for years, not a measly 6 months in a medium security detention centre in Toronto.

Eagleson was a dirty swindler. Nothing I can say can possibly paint an adequate picture of how evil this guy was. He shat on a lot of players and stole their money at the same time everyone was shaking his hand and giving him honours. Nobody knew what he was up to? Shannon great video. With Bobby Orr, in 1976 Paul Mooney had presented to Eagleson a new contract offer and Eagleson never relayed what the was offered. The Bruins were offering Bobby 18.5% ownership of the team. He said to Orr the Blackhawk deal was the best offer. He never told Orr about the deal. He robbed the fans of Boston a chance to cheer their hero to the end of his career. Can you imagine being an almost 20% owner of a sports franchise especially a team like the Bruins. Derek Sanderson asked Orr why did you turn that deal down and Bobby said I didn't turn any deal down. Sanderson went Uoh. Sad and criminal.

It is reprehensible but the individuals he screwed for years are partially to blame for not being more involved in there finances. The wealthy or those with influence always fuckover the little guy. Your bank's even screw you if you don't know any better. If you don't ask for better rates, treatment, and lower fees your not going to get it. Business, agents, financial planners and institutions hate well involved clients as they know they can't get away with half the shit they do on daily bases with there I'll informed and less involved clientel.

That's one reason a good friend of mine quit his job as a bank manager and went back to teaching overseas (for less money). He couldn't put up with the petty wealthy clients any longer. One way a lot of people who get rich stay that way is because they're cheap (which is also smart...I'm not saying it isn't, but it's also cheap.) and refuse to pay for anything.

Bob Goodenow is the best executive director in the history of the NHLPA!! Without him the players would've made the money off of their likeness which included video games, trading cards, posters & sweaters. He gave the NHLPA the backbone that it desperately needed at the time, which infuriated the owners who had such a cozy relationship with Eagleson. That's the reason why Bettman & his henchmen did everything they could to get rid of Goodenow, who was beating them at the negotiating table with regards to the CBA in the 90's. The league eventually won by instituting a salary cap & at the same having some players turn on Goodenow, who was forced out of the union because of his opposition to the salary cap. The NHLPA hasn't been the same since Goodenow left.

Shannon, since you mentioned him and some of his corruption in this video, could you please do a video on Bill Wirtz? We HATED that man here in Chicago, and for good reason. People need to know how he kept the Hawks down and out because of his greed, much of the reason why there were so many fans that came out from behind the curtains when the Hawks started winning championships again. The best things Bill Wirtz did for Chicago, was help the St Louis Blues come into existence (very important rivalry), give birth to his son Rocky, and lastly, the best thing he did for Chicago, was buying the farm and letting his son take over the team and bring it from an absolute disaster of a franchise to the face of the league

Happens to often with celebrities may it be athletes, actors, singers etc. If you trust your finances to some one else and don't get involved. Give them 100% trust to keep your money safe and financials in check. Well then your a sucker that's going to be taken for a fool one way or another. It's harder to steal from the average person compared to millionaires. With large amounts of money coming in its alot easier to skim such flow and go unnoticed then skimming from way smaller amounts.
