In the second episode, Emre takes you on a journey to the Caucasus, where, in the middle of winter, a Turkic Khagan from the east and a Greaco-Roman emperor from the west meet in an army camp. They greet each other, exchange gifts, and hold a fest for both of their armies.
This unlikely event indeed took place, and was the culmination of the ancient Turko-Persian alliance. For the very last time, both Turks and Romans tried to fight alongside on the battlefield. And finally, they succeeded.
Now with better audio equipment.

The relationship between the Turks and the Roman Empire was subject to fluctuations from time to time, depending on the circumstances of the Turkish Kingdom or the Turkish people, as follows: 1- The relationship between the European Huns and the Romans was a constant state of conflict. 2- The relationship between Gokturk and Romans was mostly a state of friendship and alliance. 3- The relationship between the Khazars and the Romans was a relationship of alliance until the Roman Emperor married the daughter of the Khagan of the Khazars and the Khagan of the Khazars asked the Byzantine Romans to support him with a cadre of engineers and workers to build impregnable walls in the Byzantine style around the Khazar cities. There were limited conflicts between them over the Crimean Island. 4- The relationship between the Bulgars and the Romans was mostly a state of conflict, despite the existence of certain relations and cultural and economic exchanges between them. 5- The relationship between the Pechenegs and the Romans was often a state of conflict. 6- The relationship between the Cumans and the Romans was mostly an alliance relationship. 7- The relationship between the Seljuks and the Romans was mostly a state of conflict, but there were cases of peace and beneficial exchanges between the two parties. 8- The relationship between the Golden Horde within the Chingizid Empire and the Romans is closer to a Cold War situation, and there were alliances and relationships at certain levels. 9- Of course, after the Ottomans took control of Constantinople, the state of continuous conflict ended for more than a thousand years. One of the interesting things is that the Byzantines allowed the Turkish tribes to settle in Anatolia several centuries before the Seljuk era. In the Battle of Manzikert, the Seljuk Sultan Alparslan was surprised by the presence of Turkish legions within the Roman-Byzantine army. The Byzantines used Turkish soldiers in the imperial guard, army, etc. Therefore, there were Turkish divisions participating in the Crusader armies heading to the city of Jerusalem/al-Quds. For example, the Manav Turks are descended from the Cumans and settled in western Anatolia at the request of the Byzantines.

Why you make so many boring posts? Some are great documentary quality videos, but I feel like 90% of the notifications i get from this channel are trailers or discussions or KZbin polls... unsubscribing...

If you have the time and capacity to make a full-fledged documentary every week, go ahead and switch places with me. Then this channel is going to do just that. Further, I make polls once every 4-6 weeks. That's really not a lot. Whenever I post full videos, subscribers don't get a notification anyway. So it really begs the question if it is that fulfilling to bust your butt hours upon hours just to get a view thousand views. This podcast, at least, is relaxing to make and hopefully to listen to.
