By far, one of the best reading of this story. The voice and accent of the reader is right on spot! She is just a volunteer, she didn't have to do this for us. I tip my hat for her great performance, and no, i am not reading this for any class assignment, such days are way behind me :)

@@lazerxs660 “The Turn of the Screw” refers to the horror and suspense. When we want to tighten a screw, we turn it to the right. That’s essentially what this story is doing. At 2:10 Douglas does something to explain the title

I just watched "The Turn" it started out okay, but the ending wasn't good. Never read this book, so I'm now listening to this audibook to get a more indepth understanding of the characters in this story. I don't think that the movie did them justice. I'm guessing that the story is similar to the Yellow Wall Paper which I did read. Anyway this is what brought me here. (And also something to listen to while cleaning the house 😂). Thank-you for posting.

Complicated? No . Ambiguous? Yes. That is the point of the story. There are two stories here. The first where the governess is heroically trying to save the souls of two innocent children. The second where the governess is young, overly imaginative, and slowly goes insane. What actually happened is unclear. Although, I tend to favor the ghostly interpretation. The description she gave of Quint is very intriguing. Did she kill little Miles? Or did Quint take him?

For all of you school-age slackers: Watch "The Innocents" (1961) and look over the Cliff Notes...congratulations, you at least got a B. That said, you should just read the damn story because it's actually good. You're welcome! Sincerely, A Cultured (but helpful) Graduate P. S. It's more interesting than MOST Charles Dickens novels and "The Turn of the Screw" becomes interesting at the end of Chapter 3 and stays interesting until the end...in other words, (again,) you should just read it. It's a ghost story! Enjoy it!
@harryjones842 жыл бұрын
sorry i think you mean 'all' Although i cant resist the slightly cheap and facetiout retort that is begging- but i don't think the school age slackers you are addressing are snarling to the screens 'UGH....HENRY JAMES...ffs they've got Great expectations on the syllabus...
@tritonogletree28062 жыл бұрын
I have no idea what you are trying to say but ok...
@tritonogletree28062 жыл бұрын
You misspelled facetious, your use of an acronym annoys me (I grow tired of people who can't just say what they want to say but that's just me) and if you took a minute to look over the comments of this video, you'd likely notice about half of them are from students complaining about having to read The Turn of the Screw. So, regardless of anything else, your retort is completely invalid, pointless and sounds like the ramblings of a drunkard who is trying to be witty...take it from a drunkard... Either way, I was simply trying to help out frustrated kids by telling them the most affective way to cheat (because if they're going to be lazy and do it, they should at least know how to do it well,) while simultaneously telling them that it's a good story and they should just read the damn thing. So, in reality, I was actually promoting reading, which I think we can agree is a good thing. I'm not sure if you were being sarcastic, trying to belittle me or weirdly agreeing with me but either way, I believe that we have common ground in that Great Expectations is boring as hell and Dickens is overrated but then again, perhaps that too was sarcasm.
