He deserves so much credit. This team had two guys in the bullpen they truly trusted and they were essentially both closers. Corbin not only filled the gap in Game 7 but he was electric. Those were probably the best 3 innings he threw all year. He's earned every penny of his contract already. All of them have. That playoff run was the most incredible, thrilling, extremely nerve-wracking, and fun sports ride I've been on. Decades from now if a team has a strong of late inning comebacks in the playoffs, people will say they pulled a Nationals. I've never seen anything like it.

CHRIS SUMMERFIELD I disagree. It was smart to pitch around Soto, his pitch count was low and he wasn’t in any trouble. He should have at least been allowed to face Kendrick and see if he could get out of the inning. He wasn’t wearing down at all, he hung one changeup the entire game

@@locks8183 A drop off of a pitcher's effectiveness can be over just a few pitches. Sometimes body language or a catchers eye sees it befor it happenn but in the end t is a game played by humans. That heing said I would not have taken Grimly out.

I started having the same feeling about this Nats team that I had for the '18 Caps going toward their Stanley Cup .... TEAM OF DESTINY!! I honestly never thought Id see a Nationals World Series. After all the struggles and heartbreaks in DC sports ... this still brings tears to my eyes. I just wish my grandfather could have seen it ;( he was a life long Senators fan ... he passed away in 04, so he never even got too see baseball come back to DC :(

First time in MLB history where it went 7 games and the home team couldn’t win at home. Nats take first 2 games in Houston, Houston takes next 3 games in DC and Nats take last 2 games in Houston. Amazing series to watch.

I'm a Nats fan and I feel the same way about the Braves. I like to think of us as more "friendly rivals". A team that I dislike, but only because they are so good in the division. I can't stand the Mets and the Phillies for some reason.

Here it is April 22nd 2020 and I’m still tearing up after watching this for the 20th time. I’ve been a fan since 2005, went to spring training in 05 and 06 in Florida, saw a few games in RFK that first season, then prob 6-8 games a year at Nats Park, watched Strasburgs debut and having him live up to the hype, then the demoralizing blow when he threw out his arm needing tommy john surgery, watched us blow series leads, game leads vs the Cardinals, then to win all 5 elimination games and have the fight this team has/had in 2019 is simply amazing. Proud to be a Nationals fan for life

The ironic part of this is that I don't think the Astros expected Greinke to last this long into the game - the plan was to get through 4 or so and then bring their ace Cole in. But Greinke lasted so long that Hinch went to the normal late-inning bullpen guys instead and they couldn't get the job done.

That hit was the greatest moment in Washington Sports history in the past 30 years. I have no clue how we got Howie for $3-4M a year when he was hitting .300. Probably the best value in sports history for someone not on a rookie deal.

Being an Angels fan I was so happy for Howie. The Angels should have never let him go and the Dodgers turned him into a scrub. They were playing an old and cripple Chase Utley over him. Howie got revenge against the Dodgers with the grand slam too!

For some reason Greinke showed Rendon the change up grip that he homered on, then Hinch inexplicably takes Greinke out for the part of the lineup he had been dominating the whole game and in his last start. I’m baffled by this decision but at least the whack Astros paid the price for it.

Montreal Expo's (Nats) won their first World Series and that's all I could have wanted to see. Just beautiful to see it and for Davey Martinez a student of Felipe Alou this is closure for me. A former Expo brings it hone to not just Washington but Montreal too.

Okay; the Nats lost Rendon (expected - especially after getting Stras to re-up for another seven years). However, we not only lost nobody else (except Parra to Japan), they even got Will Harris (to shore up the only weakness other than third - relief). Harris is getting even the best way - going from Kendrick's victim to Kendrick's teammate (yes; the Nats got Kendrick to re-up as well).

It's the price of winning a championship sadly. Both Strasburg and Rendon were beasts in the postseason and were probably getting paid either way, but contributing the way they did on a championship winning team guaranteed it. The Nats weren't gonna be able to keep both with the paydays both guys had coming, they did well at least making sure they didn't lose both of them.
