With the Chicago Cubs four outs away from their season-long expected World Series championship, the Cleveland Indians get up off the mat in a big way.

Probably one of the greatest MLB games of all time. Two teams trying to break the curse in a game 7 of the World Series
@williamsnyder56164 жыл бұрын
Because of the drama involved (Two teams trying to break a Series curse, the great comebacks), I vote it as my greatest Game 7. Before 2016, it was, hands down, the Pirates and Yankees in 1960. But now, it's the Cubs-Indians.

William Snyder Rangers vs cardinals game 6 World Series one of the best also. Even though it wasn't a game 7 it's still one of the best games ever.
@KooksVGC4 жыл бұрын
I think between the history with both these teams, the fact it was game seven of the world series, and between an extra inning and a rain delay, this is definitely one for the books. My favorite of all time.

@@williamsnyder5616 would have been even better had the Cavaliers not just won it all a few months earlier, breaking the city's championship drought. The Indians really fed off that, and that's why they contended so well during, and why they've faltered since (the Cubs are just the Cubs, so that's why they can't go back).

Brandon Guyer deserves some sort of award for that at bat. He was patient and focused on just getting on base and he drives in a run at 3-2 after fouling off some really tough pitches. That's the definition of a major league ball player right there.

Cleveland baseball joined the American League in 1901. I don’t think there will ever be an inning as great as this in the entire history of the franchise. Not in the 115 years before, not in the 115 years after. The way that the TV broadcast captured this moment is something else. The beating of the drum 🥁, the slow buildup of the rally, the rally caps, the Cubs fans, LeBron’s reaction and shirt at the peak of his popularity …… The Baseball Gods emerged from their meditation for this game. Universes collided and merged into another during this game. 2016 was an insane year to be living in Cleveland.

It is literally and truly one of the best moments I’ve seen from Rajai Davis. I met him at 13 years old and he was on the Altoona Curve. I attended one of the clinics they hosted and he asked me, “What do you want to be when you grown?” I answered I wanted to be a baseball player. He told me “kid with that attitude you can make it happen.” Now I may not have made it, because of politics, I had the privilege of watching this masterpiece and seeing Rajai have a World Series moment. And I was so happy he wasn’t the last out.

The Guyer at bat was pure guts. Hardly anybody talks about that bc of what was about to occur. The Davis at-bat is a sequence that reminds us how critical sports is and its impact. If you watch the entire Davis at-bat, the on the mark commentary, the pictures Fox Sports found in the crowd along with the late and great John Adams beating on the drums, it truly is a rare sports moment that all of us should cherish and watch over and over again as it was that remarkable.

I think fans of both teams can look at this game and feel proud. I'm an Indians fan but I was proud of this team. These guys came from 3 down to tie it against arguably the top closer in the MLB, and in game 7. The game was so even it took extra innings to decide. The cubs deserved it, but the Indians will be ready this year. Best of luck cubs and go tribe.

2 teams that hadn't won in over 50 yrs. at least, going extras in G7, doesn't get any better.

This whole video still gives me chills... especially with Guyer's hit and Rajai's home run.

This still gives me chills watching this! Indians you were so close. Cleveland would have been lit if they won Cavs and Indians same year.

I had so many conflicting emotions while watching this inning and this game. I'm a lifelong Tigers fan (No jokes, please. We'll be back sometime in this century.), so the Indians are not my favorite rival. I grew up in west Michigan, so I could get Cubs games on WGN, so they became my favorite National League team. That means I was well aware of their "drought." But I was also aware of the Indians frustrations and, as a baseball historian, I could empathize a little with the Tribe's "drought." And, when Rajai Davis was with the Tigers, he was one of my favorites. So, I couldn't but smile when Rajai tied the game. Just as I did when the Cubbies finally took the Tigers off the hook. Huh? Simply because we were the last team the Cubs BEAT in the Series...in 1908. In fact, they beat us two years in a row in 1907 and 1908. So now, there's someone else they could beat. After all is said and done, though, my congrats to both the Cubs AND the Indians for a great, truly GREAT, World Series.

This whole bottom half of the 8th inning lives rent free in my head. From Guyers oppo double to Davis’ game tying homer. I root for the dodgers but I’m a baseball fan first and watching this always makes me feel good.

Chicagos bullpen got them the win in game 7 'momentum was with Indians when they tired it I was cheering Indians even though they beat jays because wanted the cubs title drought to go longer next year Indians as long as u aren't playing jays in postseason I'm cheering Indians Edwin to win World Series
@Finkardop7 жыл бұрын
TheCnorton19 the rain wasn't even bad enough for a delay. They called it cause the world wanted the cubs to win. Good $$$ and good ratings.
@lukepederson61287 жыл бұрын
TheCnorton19 That rain delay killed the momentum. Also, if Jose Ramirez was 6 inches to his right, he would've fielded the ball and got a double play on the Zobrist double. That would've ended the inning. In the bottom of the tenth Rajai had that single that scored Ramirez. That would've been a walk off
@johnq33937 жыл бұрын
TheCnorton19if I remember the rain delay was called top of the 10th when Cubs were batting stop making excuses Indians choked and lost to the better team champions find ways to win no matter that's what the Cubs did found the will to win.

Whenever I hear a fellow Red Sox fan state, "I love how we won in 2004 but it wasn't dramatic enough," I will remind them of this game and the storyline for each teams history and then punch them in the schnozzz. While watching this game, never in my life have I wanted each team to win so badly. It was heartbreaking for me, while joyous. I can't imagine what it would have been like for Indians fans.
