Living a couple miles from the TVR factory all my life , you’d hear those bonkers v8 ‘s or straight 6’s rumbling around very regularly. Sorely missed.

These cars were ahead of their time. In looks, at least. You could make them now and not change the styling at all.

Fantastic looking and driving car! Interior much more interesting and inviting than most. To produce such a thing at really a low cost was where the competition grasped a weakness. And flooded the market with stuff that’s just.. yeah, a bit boring now to be honest.

I agree just shame was to ahead of there time, that's why the company went bust. Love all TVR's. Look at the early 90s TVR to Ferrari, Porsche, Maserati etc the TVRs look so better in and out . Shame

Always LOVED TVRs! Pure and unadulterated passion, rage and lunacy. I owned the Clarkson supercar video (VHS I think!) where he drag raced a bunch of supercars (911 Turbo, 550bhp twin supercarged Aston Vantage, Caterham, Dodge Viper, possibly a Ferrari and a few others) including the new TVR Cerbera (not even the hottest version either! I think it was the 6 cylinder or 4.2 V8) The TVR WASTED all comers, with only the 911 Turbo putting up any kind of fight (although the Cerbera still made the 911 look slow in comparison!) I loved the looks and sounds of TVRs prior to that, but when they started to fit their own engines (and stopped using the prehistoric Rover V8) their performance was on a whole other level. I know they were unreliable, but they were crazy and made one hell of an impression! It was sad that they never made the Speed 12 (just raced a few I believe) as that would surely have set some crazy records on acceleration and top end!

There's 2 things I've always felt that applied to TVR's, #1 the company over promised & under delivered. #2 Their cars must have been different in the UK than they were here in the states. Years ago, I stopped by a Import shop to look at a Porsche 928 & saw a beautiful dark blue TVR convertible in the shop & asked if I could drive it. The dealer opened the garage door, cranked it up & backed it out, maybe 20 feet. It immediately burst into flames.

@@AmericasChoice I know it's damn near impossible for you kids to believe anything you haven't experienced but like I always say, just because you don't believe the truth doesn't make it any less TRUE. The TVR burnt to a crisp in nothing flat & the charged remains sat @ the shop for over 3 years, right next to the dumpster.

Hmmm one way of making them rare cars. 😢. This 440 I think less than 10 were made. I like the ones with the alloy V8 Rover in they sound nice and are reliable. Still the 5liter way back then does 60mph in 4sec Griffith or Chimaera in the early 90's.

TVR sold their cars too cheap. If they'd charged a bit more they could have afforded to iron out the bugs, and they'd have had truly excellent cars.
