Why isn't this song viewed like 87 billion more times?! Why is this kind of music not shared with more people?! This overwhelmingly beautiful music needs to be at the forefront of the industry because it speaks to the SOUL.

Why is fast food a thing? Why is fast fashion a thing? Because most people don't want to expend time and energy on "real" things, they want surface-level stuff that's quick and easy to consume. Music is no different, modern day popular music is the equivalent of fast food and fast fashion in every sense. Stuff that's real, with real emotion, might force people to actually feel something and we can't have that now can we? Perish the thought

Who doesn't enjoy live music? Quite a hungry industry if I may say so. So, free . . in your room is all you could hope for. What I like about The Twilight Sad is that I interpret their songs differently depending on what mindset I'm in. A few months ago I thought this was a song about unrequited love because I had a crush on a girl a few leagues above me but nowadays, with all the news reports about rape I think this is a modern day version of Diane by Hüsker Dü (and THERAPY?).

@@TheLastCrusader22 That is literally impossible. If it wasn't for Joy Division they would not even exist. Just a matter of taste.

@@alanarkham143 Ah, you're one of those people that think Joy Division "invented post-punk". Sure, think whatever you like. If Ian Curtis had lived longer they wouldn't have been nearly as famous. Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Fall, Talking Heads and Wire were all better and more important

@@TheLastCrusader22 I am not one of those, I am not even a big fan of Joy Division, but I know about Music History, and I know without them millions of band wouldn't exist today. that is all. If Ian would have been lived longer there is no saying of what would have happened with the band.

Well actually the only thing that the singer shares with Ian Curtis is his looks, and their voices are extremely different. Just shows how much people judge by appearance.
@koreypaul66988 жыл бұрын
I think the comparison is more so with the performance. They both are consumed by the music while singing.
@farine58 жыл бұрын
YES ! exactly what I thought after 2 seconds live ... it's just a small "mistake", they don't need to be as Ian, was or what ever, nobody can be Ian Curtis ....
@koreypaul66988 жыл бұрын
What I found interesting was when I brought one of my friends with me to see them perform their stripped back set as a 3 piece band and he said they remind him of the Smiths. I know they aprreciate The Smiths and have even covered one of their songs but I never heard it per se in The Twilight Sad's music before then...
@jamess73338 жыл бұрын
The Ian Curtis comparison is pretty apt when you see him performing live. I haven't seen them for a couple of years now, but as a Scot I had a lot of opportunities to see them during their earlier more intense sets, whereupon James Graham would often roll his eyes back during wall of sound moments almost looking like he was on the verge of an epileptic fit!!

A whole lot of HATE in the comments on this track! To me, it is beauty. Some others may disagree. Everyone is entitled to opine. Be civil. If you don't like the material, don't listen, and don't berate the others that enjoy it. We all adore "great" music. Are we so bored as to where we will just pick an arbitrary "fight" to fill our day with social garbage? Like it or loathe it...don't admonish others for their opinions, whether yay or nay. A thought...
