The Twin Slides on Santanoni + Newly Discovered Slide | Possibly First Ascent

Santanoni Mountain has three slides. The Autobahn Slide, Ermine Brook Slide and The Twin Slides. On today’s hike, we climbed the Twin Slides. We didn’t want to just climb one side like people typically do, We wanted to do both. So we climbed up the right steeper side and when the slide ended we bushwhacked up to the summit Ridgeline, headed south and then down to the Southern Twin Slide. On the way down, we noticed a fresh and huge rubble field of sand, rock, and trees. You could also see some white rock in the distance and sure enough it was a brand new slide that happened just a couple months earlier. So of course, we climbed that tributary up to the top. It was my favorite part of the twin slides… it also had very grippy rock that nearly cut your fingertips and a very steep head wall! It was super rewarding and satisfying. I love Santanoni Mountain Slides. It’s such a beautiful mountain and the slides are so much fun to climb! Each and every slide on Santanoni is very unique and different to the other one!
