Click on the time markers provided to analyze this video quickly. Was Cyril Lucaris a self-described "Calvinist Patriarch," or was he an Orthodox saint, who rejected Calvin as a heretic? The answer to that question undermines all of Eastern Orthodoxy's claims to oral tradition and the infallibility of their church. This is a presentation of Christ Presbyterian Church, a congregation of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Magna, Utah (www.gospelutah.org) used by permission. 00:00 - Larry Wessels, director of Christian Answers of Austin, Texas/ Christian Debater & of the KZbin channel kzbin.info (CAnswersTV stands for Christian Answers Television) demonstrates how time markers can be used by our viewers. 7:29 - Introduction - The Eastern Orthodox Church curses to hell Martin Luther, John Calvin & all Protestants in their wake to hellfire. They also curse to hell anyone who does not venerate the Eastern Orthodox holy icons (images) & traditions. See our video "Eastern, Russian & Greek Orthodoxy Consists of Idol Worshipers Venerating Pagan Icons & Images" at kzbin.info/www/bejne/qanMZGufpLSgetk . See also our playlist "Dealing With Roman Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, Idolatry & the Virgin Mary" with 273 videos at kzbin.info/aero/PLFFA8D69D1B914715 . See also "The Confession of Cyril Lucaris (Eastern Orthodox, 1629) Dennis Bratcher, ed. at www.crivoice.org/creedcyril.html : Cyril Lucar or Lucaris was born in what is now Greece in 1572. Although rising to the position of the Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Constantinople, Cyril was heavily influenced by 16th century Calvinism. As a result, in the spirit of the Protestant Reformation and in strong opposition to Roman Catholicism, he attempted to reform Orthodoxy in the direction of Calvinism. This confession, an eighteen point summary of Cyril's beliefs originally written in Latin, was published in Geneva in 1629. It immediately aroused fierce opposition among other Orthodox leaders since it challenged some of the basic tenets of Eastern religious practice. A Synod of Eastern Orthodox Churches was called in Jerusalem in 1672 to refute the position of Cyril. Orthodox leaders contended that the Confession of Cyril was a forgery perpetrated by Calvinists to spread their influence among Eastern churches. They presented quotations from known writings of Cyril to show that he had not held the positions expressed in the Confession. In addition, they argued that the Confession was not an official pronouncement by an Orthodox Patriarch. The Synod of Jerusalem of 1672 soundly rejected any further attempts at reformulation of Orthodox teachings and strengthened Orthodox beliefs against both the Protestant Reformation and Catholicism. The Synod produced its own confession, the Confession of Dositheus (Patriarch of Jerusalem), in which it refuted Cyril's eighteen points, as well as adding four catechetical style questions. Cyril was eventually accused of political intrigue and murdered in 1638 while in Ottoman custody. The successor following Cyril Lucaris cursed Cyril to hell, Cyril's confession to hell & all that think like Calvinists do to eternal hell according to the Council of Constantinople (1638 & another one in 1642). Thus the Eastern Orthodox Church rewrote their own history to cover their own historical errors. 14:51 Who Baptized Constantine? Arianism heresy sneaks in. Arianism developed around 320 in Alexandria Egypt and concerning the person of Christ and is named after Arius of Alexander. For his doctrinal teaching, he was exiled to Illyria in 325 after the first ecumenical council at Nicaea condemned his teaching as heresy. It was the greatest of heresies within the early church that developed a significant following. Some say, it almost took over the church. Arius taught that only God the Father was eternal and too pure and infinite to appear on the earth. Therefore, God produced Christ the Son out of nothing as the first and greatest creation. The Son is then the one who created the universe. God adopted Christ as the Son. Though Christ was a creation and because of his great position and authority, he was to be worshiped and even looked upon as God. Some Arians even held that the Holy Spirit was the first and greatest creation of the Son. Thus in asserting that Christ the Son, as a created thing, was to be worshiped, the Arians were advocating idolatry. 20:45 - A Calvinist Conspiracy? False Eastern Orthodox conspiracy theories to deny what Cyril Lucaris believed & wrote despite actual evidence to the contrary to these phony theories. 32:25 - An Orthodox Conspiracy! The Roman Catholics conspired with Eastern Orthodox clergy to get rid of Cyril Lucaris mainly because they despised the Calvinism that Lucaris taught & the Turks helped murder him. 39:06 - By What Standard? Eastern Orthodoxy is a not based on the Bible but fabricated traditions & rituals. 45:03 - Subscribe

And now the crucial question: do you accept and believe as correct the Confession of Cyril Lucaris?

If you reviewed this video in it's entirety then you would know that the hierarchy of the Eastern Orthodox religion is just as despicable & plotting as the hierarchy of the Roman Catholic religion is (see our video "46 Really Bad Popes that Karl Keating of Catholic Answers Conveniently Forgot About in His Books" at kzbin.info/www/bejne/joutcnqgi7-eqa8 ). Here is Cyril's confession at www.crivoice.org/creedcyril.html which is blasted by the heretics in the Eastern Orthodox religion after they had Cyril murdered in league with the Romanists & the Turks with their "The Confession of Dositheus" (Eastern Orthodox, 1672) at www.crivoice.org/creeddositheus.html . Cyril's authentic confession before his murder is far more Biblically accurate than the inaccurate & misinterpreted material found in the "The Confession of Dositheus". Apostolic Succession is a myth created by power hungry religionists in the Eastern Orthodox, Roman Catholic & other cults that are counterfeits of true Biblical Christianity (see our video "Apostolic Succession: An Experiment That Failed - Does This Doctrine Supersede The Scriptures?" at kzbin.info/www/bejne/oXm8dGlrZ5uCiM0 ). Apostolic succession is not found in the Bible because it addresses a problem and life situation not found until after New Testament times. It answers the question “Who takes the place of the apostles after they died?” The first written records of it appear in the late second century and early third, in the writings of the church fathers Irenaeus of Lyons in France and Tertullian in what is today Tunisia. Apostolic Succession Does Not Work - Today there is a vast variety of denominations claiming apostolic succession through the laying-on of hands by bishops in the Roman lineage, but they are now divided by a multitude of differences on ethics, dogma, and practice. The principle of apostolic succession has been discredited most by the people who claim it for themselves. All bishoprics claiming apostolic origin today assert that they were founded by one or more of the original Twelve Apostles or by men whom the New Testament records as having been in close association with them, such as Paul and Barnabas and Mark. However, they cannot exhibit anything even remotely like the rolls of their alleged predecessors. Exceptions are Aquileia, Alexandria, and Philip the Evangelist for Ethiopia, but there are gaps of over two hundred years between the first Christian contact and the establishing of a local church organization as we know it, such that we are tempted to dismiss these ancient foundations as legends. The same is true of the Russian Orthodox Church, claiming descent from Andrew the Apostle. As in many other localities, apostolic succession is claimed on the sole basis of an apostle having preached there, without founding a permanent Christian community or leaving probative evidence of a bishop or continuity of Christianity of any sort. Similar claims by congregations, dioceses, and whole denominations can also be dismissed as wishful thinking. Thus Eastern Orthodoxy is based on wishful thinking.
