Having hair this length is no joke because you can’t just go anywhere to get it done. I haven’t been to a salon for full services since 2011 and have seen my hair go from shoulder length to classic length in 5 years because I take care of it. I tried going to a “natural hair stylist” once to be pampered and ended up walking out. Sis was raking through towel dried hair with a wide tooth comb telling me my hair was damaged. I went home, lathered on deep conditioner and gently detangle the knots she created and then booked a trim with a friend that does hair. He said there was nothing wrong with my hair (which I knew) and warned me about that salon having less skilled stylists because they are used to dealing with weaves and relaxers and not how to treat real, natural hair. Lesson learned. I do my hair myself and while it’s time consuming, it’s better off in the long run. Plus, I got the nerve to be tender headed.
@mercurygirl8404
@mercurygirl8404 4 жыл бұрын
I feel you, where I'm from there aren't many hairstylists that do curly hair, the closest one is like a 3 hour drive from my home and I can't do that, I don't trust others with my hair. My friend that also has curly hair went to the salon I was talking about, but she asked for a normal cut and they almost chopped it all off, ended up with a mushroom cut, it looks great on her (she's beautiful), but that was not what she asked for. I ended up doing my own hair in my house
@iraellison7835
@iraellison7835 4 жыл бұрын
Amen! I went to get my hair done and the woman asked if I was “tender head”, and whenever a stylist ask you just that 1 question should tell you that they don’t know what they are doing. She was ruff with my hair and combed it aggressively and didn’t moisturize it beforehand after she washed it. She allowed my hair to dry and began combing it and pulled hair OUT. I went off and had someone with “more experience” to do it and she still didn’t treat it properly. She didn’t use the comb and press method and tried to tell me that I have different hair textures which is why she couldn’t do a “proper job”, these were black women with weaves and braids, and that’s when I instantly knew that not every stylist knows how to do natural hair.

No kidding! I have a white friend with long tight curly hair (3C!). A friend of the family is a hair stylist that had learned how to use product & iron to straighten curly hair. My friend had straight hair for the first time ever. She was walking around swinging that hair from side to side & caressing it all day long. Couldn't keep her hands off of it. Thank you for sharing this especially: Those of us black girls with longer hair are usually met with a bad attitude from lazy stylists who don't want to take the time. As you noticed her scalp is very fair because sun rarely gets in therefore it's important to be gentle (you were) with the finger comb out. & lastly, I'm glad your client agreed to show her gorgeous face. Such gorgeous hair, and I'm jealous of that length! I'm not black, but I always go to black owned and operated salons to do my hair as I'm middle eastern/arab, and I have long, thick, super curly hair and the stylists are always the only ones who can do my hair right, and understand the texture. I just found this channel out of nowhere but I'm subscribing because these videos are so satisfying. It also takes around an hour and a half to two hours to blow dry my hair so I understand that feeling so well lol
