I was always confused because I did not know what fry screaming was, but I knew that there seemed to be two different types that people were teaching and labelling them "fry scream". This video finally addressed that issue, and I'm so glad because I thought I was going crazy with confusing what screaming was

I’m having such a hard time allow too much “voice” escape while attempting fry. The distortion sounds ok but it’s not consistent but it sounds like an old man is moaning underneath the distortion lol. I’m trying.

I'm 17 years old, i watched so many videos about how to do it the vocal fry and false cord, day by day i keep practicing on how to do it properly at first it hurts my throat not so much because I'm doing it not to loud at first because I'm just exercising my throat only after 2 months doing it my vocal fry improved i know i improved its hard to practice because i control my voice like i can't do it or try to do it with so much energy because my mother or neighbor will stop me from doing it. But i keep practicing it day by day even though it's not too loud but i know i improved yesterday i was alone in our house i played some death core / metalcore music, suicide silence, bring me to the horizon, bullet for my valentine, renesans, that day i give my best i didn't care about my neighbours i didn't about what they'll say i close the windows and doors i play the music on max volume!! Yeah!! And i am singing!! Those vocal fry and false cord I've been practicing for 2 months!! I give so much energy i didn't care about my surroundings i only think I'm alone now, i went up to our table and sing like crazy!! But i know i achieved it!!! I can sing!! I'm so very happy I'm singing it to hard!! I give all mu energy!! I keep headbanging my head and i feel dizzy sometimes because I'm giving all my energy because I'm really enjoying the moment!! After that day my head is aching but it's okay because i know to myself that i can sing like them!

My lows are brutal and beautiful, my highs are ass. I have sinus damage from a head injury (scar tissue build up) so getting resonances and airflow in my sinuses is nearly impossible. Because of this I dedicated my vocal training toward chest voice. I suggest aspiring vocalists take the time to know their physical limitations and work toward their strengths. Trying to imitate your favorite vocalists can be good practice, but never a solution for finding your unique voice.

Isn't it crazy how Mike Hranica from TDWP used both? His power fries are absolutely crazy and one of the lowest registers of a fry I've ever heard. Their album Plagues is prob the best demonstration of all registers at their peak. Austin Carlile is also definitely up there with the purest high fries (barely any yelp or voice tone in them) in their self titled album

not to say I already know how to metal scream- but I kind of do hahaha. I think a service that you might be able to offer to more advanced "scream" students, might be - what can us millennials do to market our screams. What is the point? to show off to friends? To creep people out at halloween when we can imitate a zombie in the shadows? I've been making weird noises since I was a teen in the mid 2000s, and now its just a "useless" skill. A series on "how to find a metal band in your 30s" would be awesome. What to expect in a metal vocal audition- How to practice a metal song to nail those vocal acrobatics- e.g. lorna shore, Tallah, etc. How to make a splash on social media without singing like a popstar etc I love metal vocals, and the vocalists who master them - but its such an underground art, I think showing there could be a reason to do it, other than to sound badass, could be something really interesting.

@@randomuser1010 TLDR: nah you shut up. I'm trying to help dude- I"m just trying to give riff shop some ground for new content. I know they have their singing classes, but IDK- I've been following them since their cyborg octopus days like a decade ago. I think some of us older followers could use advanced business and strategy videos over more "hungry lights: how to scream" videos. That content has been a dime a dozen since Mellissa cross gained notoriety, and I think a "what to do with screaming" series would give them somewhere to stand apart.

Well you kinda can if you did hybrid screams which is false chord and fry scream. You would just use chest voice with false chord activation and then close vocal chords. Easier with a higher note

@hxstiile Жыл бұрын
That sounds like you were literally just trying to scream and pushing it out as hard as possible and creating too much pressure in your head area. When i was like 14 i just tried to imitate scream vocals and had no idea what the techniques were and did the same thing, would literally just scream and it would make me go light headed and feel like i need to throw up. So, that's most likely your issue.
@Archaeologist3 жыл бұрын
Good video!! And yes, I’ve never seen anyone else talk about this on KZbin either! Right now I’m strictly a head-voice fry guy, still trying to figure out the chest voice version. I like the tone of my head fry, it would just be nice to have more flexibility with the lows 🍟
@herberthooverfeetpics45953 жыл бұрын
The reason you haven't seen anyone talk about it is because it is not fry, it's called glottal compression, and you need to learn tuvan throat singing if you want that flexibility from a fry scream. I would recommend joining r/Screaming's discord server for free tutorials on how to do throat singing. It has tutorials that get you screaming safely. Unlike the reddit page, they just flat out say in an automated message when you join that vocal fry is not the same as a fry scream and grudge noise is pretty useless. All the instructors hate glottal compression, and you can learn shout, fry, and false-cord style vocals, even some more controversial styles such as an epiglottal scream. I think there's even people who teach the inhale scream. Anyways, glottal compression is very dangerous, because it is very easy to do wrong, not to mention screamers just go straight into the scream without slowly building the distortion over time. Also glottal compression is very hard to do right, takes over a year to develop into even a pitched scream safely, and is just in general a very controversial topic
