While that song is good, this should have been the official anthem of the USAF.

Back in the day, late 60's, when I joined the USAF, this was the song we were told to learn in basic training and was played in theaters on base. Now I still remember the words and really enjoy seeing the aircraft in it that made the USAF the most powerful military on earth. 33 years of AF life later, I still like the song.

My dad was in the airforce just as Vietnam was starting to kick off, when I was six he told me they came out with a song and told me the first line so I'd know it when I heard it. 12 years later and here I am.

Back in the late 50s or early 60s this song would play on TV every Saturday morning around 7 AM, right before Diver Dan came on.

In the 60s we'd see it on Sunday afternoons, usually after a war movie.

If you listen very closely, you'll find this song bears an uncanny resemblance to "Wagons Ho!" which was introduced as the theme in the third season of "Wagon Train." The Airforce song came first (1956 vs. 1959), so one would suspect WT conductor Jerome Moross either plagiarized it or unconsciously "borrowed" it.

Just confirmed the Ghost of Kyiv was killed yesterday. I’d like to think the Ghost of Kyiv is up there with Chuck Yeager, Jimmy Stewart, Jimmy Doolittle, ‘Bombs Away’ Curt LeMay, and the RAF’s Paddy Finucane, all having a round and humming this song among with a few others (Long away to Tipperary, as Paddy will surely be singing).

They took the blue from the skies and a pretty girl's eyes 그들은 저 하늘에서, 어여쁜 여인의 눈빛에서, and a touch of Old Glory's hue, 성조기의 광채 속에서 푸른빛을 달고 왔네, And gave it to the men who proudly wear the U.S. Air Force Blue. The U.S. Oh, they are men with a dream on America's team, They're a rugged and ready crew. And you can bet your boots the world looks up to U.S. Air Force Blue. To U.S. Air Force Blue! They know where they're goin', they've set their course, The sky's no limit in the Air Force. They proudly wear the Blue. Air Force Blue!
