Maybe if the US mint didn't price their platinum around $1500 an Oz, they'd sell more

The way I see it, the industrial use is planned & expected to rise so they may be cutting Pt out of their minting if the Pt supplies are being hoarded by large industries and manufacturers. If this scenario is the case, than the US Mint may not think people will have the cash or be in the market for Pt coins if Platinum catches up to Gold or even surpasses it (considering Pt is twice as rare as Au). Just a thought, but one I’m going to bet on by buying more Platinum ounces shortly, and if it doesn’t go that way (yet ;) then I still have more P(t)recious Metals in my stack! 🍻

Greetings from Russia! Yes, it was nice to look at the platinum coin. We have not minted such coins for many years, although they were issued in the 90s and in the USSR, recently showed on his channel the rarest coin of Russia, with a circulation of 900 pieces of platinum, the Russian ballet. I really like it and now it's in my collection =)

It would be a shame to stop production but I don't buy the full ounce anyway. The proof series with it's changing reverse was way more interesting.

This is interesting. Bottom line for any reputable mint is making money. If the U.S. Mint doesn't strike BU Platinum Eagles in 2024, it's likely one of 2 reasons: 1. Blank availability is low 2. They're prioritizing other products because demand isn't sufficient to justify high production costs It will be interesting to see if they strike proof Platinum Eagles in 2024. If not, this would be the first time ever that they didn't produce a proof Platinum Eagle since the series began.

They already made a batch of 2024 though. They were offered online, though now they are sold out.

What about the situation in the world court with the genocide of the Palestinian people…this was started by South Africa…and the United States is a big supporter of Israel…so it may be a sanctions thing going on…I am not a supporter of Israel by the way…but I know that there is a serious situation going in that might bring on sanctions against the US by SA or vice versa

The United States Mint is a government agency, and not a business.
@CoinsAZ8 ай бұрын
@josephpurdy8390 But as far as I'm aware, they still need to financially justify producing bullion and collector products. That would mean they're required to turn a profit. After all, if profit was irrelevant then they'd still be producing a shit load of bullion products that they'd discontinued producing.

@@lepton31415 gold and silver is made up money. It's hunks of metal. Metal isn't worth jack unless someone needs the metal. It's hard enough to sell as is in a normal world imagine how hard it will be to sell later... No one's going to trade food or weapons for a chunk of metal either especially if the world is falling apart

I think the US Mint has an obligation to at least finish a series, like the current First Ammendment Series that ends in 2025.

Demand for eagles may have gone down due to the fact there's so many other options for platinum bullion now.
