If they fight back, they will be killed. The settlers have the guns, they have the IDF backing them up. The Palestinians have no means of fighting back and nobody to protect them. The Israeli legal system is a cruel joke for Palestinians who live under Israeli military law, while the settlers live under Israeli civil law.

Consider how in any type of fight, a person who stands in the middle between them has a far better chance of calming the situation down. Also that this is the first time in many decades Palestinians have a chance to be recognized as a state. That said, Biden has made some really awful decisions regarding funding, but has worked against R's to stop funding offensive weapons. Yes it's not enough, but at least he'll never tell bibi "finish them off."
