It all depends on what u s offers. For ex. if u s removes all (like 15k) sanctions imposed on russia today, it would be very tempting for russia to ponder. The top priority for any country is their own national interest. I understand the trust issue, even if trump did that, it could totally be reversed when democrates are back to power.

Mearsheimer is actually one of the better ones discussing geopolitics in the U.S. He's good on NATO and Israel, which is a rarity. Jeffrey Sachs, for one example, is much better on promoting global peace.

John has no understanding of history. Russia and China has good diplomatic relation since early 1990s. Russia and China sign a treaty of friendship and cooperation in 2001, well before the Ukraine conflict or Ukraine "coup" of 2014
