The exam itself it very questionable regarding suitability for Medicine. Always has been.

Exactly. But sadly this is what we have to deal with

100% terrible way for deciding who is suitable in a caring profession. I would go as far as saying the MMI is also questionable bad. The whole admission to medical/caring professions needs addressed

@@FutureDoc I agree, It just sad that if anything its usage is increasing and I cant help but feel that because doctors are too busy, its not challenged by those who know what its like to be in the profession. Some admissions argue, well what do you expect us to do we cant interview everyone. And although I agree logistically, there must be more appropriate ways of assessing students.

Yeah interesting thought exercise. Do you have any ideas how it could be improved?

I did the UCAT this year and got 2850, abstract reasoning was my best section because it’s so easy to prepare for,, but the extra minute and “less” to learn seem like it’ll make the whole exam easier from next year. I’m taking a gap year before grad med application so resitting ucat… hopefully won’t be the wrong choice! 😂

UCAT scores are gonna be hella inflated now

I'm a recent graduate, whose applying for next year as I couldn't afford medicine, I flopped my ucat last year but this is crazy....

What are you doing in the interim? Working / saving?
@somerandomorganismonearth2723 күн бұрын
My cousin told me he got the highest in the abstract reasoning and saying it was really easy as he learned every single pattern in the qs and got like 850 (i think) and now its taken out :( I dont know whether these changes have made things better or for worse/
@FutureDoc3 күн бұрын
Yeah that’s what I was getting at in the video. It’s a section that those who put the time in and learn the right techniques are able to figure out how to get 800+. But then again, that applies to all sections. The people that really want it will figure out a way to do what they need to get in.

NOOO abstract reasoning was my best section

Are you re-sitting?
@clatbomba2 күн бұрын
@@FutureDoc no I’m sitting the exam this year for the first time. Here in Australia we have a selective school entrance exam called GATE, and one of its sections is abstract reasoning, so that kind of helped me with my UCAT study so far since I was pretty familiar with the patterns to look for.

Is there any possibility for me to get admission in medicine in high universities such as UCL, KCL etc by doing a qualification considered equivalent to A levels in Pakistan , called FSc pre med (in which we study Biology, chemistry, physics, and some other subjects such as English) ? or will there be any difficulty?

Email the admissions teams directly.
