I like the process of setting the colors not based on the actual photo but its the mood that comes out at the moment. It evokes a human feeling. It has emotions.

Love your work and you have been such a great help and inspiration. Thank you so very much. I’ve been drawing for sixty years and could not afford art school. You addressed the issues that I had and I didn’t have the direction over years to help me Correct my errors until you came along. You have been so much help.. Thank you so very much.

Loved it….provides me with confidence to not concretely think when I do a picture but look at it more abstractly and add my own take on it 👏🏻👏🏻

Great video. I have a habit of overpainting so your comments about leaving the bldg on the left as negative space and how it pushes the eye to the right is very helpful. I’d love to see more videos about how white space guides the eye. :)

Another excellent video - you explained your use of colour really well there Toby. Also turning your fountain pen over to get a thinner line was something i wasnt aware of. I think i need to get some of that ink as mine just isnt black enough. Also love Moonglow - its so much more than grey paint

Amazing tips especially about the vanishing point & the silhouette of the buildings 👍 I would struggle as to how to approach a scene and where to start sketching. This really helped a ton!! 🙌😊

I loved your reel on perspective. Would you possibly do a full video on it? The reel was so easy to understand but it was a bit short for me. As a beginner, I appreciate how simple you make it for me to understand.

@@TobySketchLoose I look forward to seeing that video. You have made me realize that drawing doesn't have to be such a hard thing to do. Thank you for sharing your knowledge in a very easy manner.

I love watching your videos. I bought a Lamy pen and I love it. I haven't used a fountain pen since High School in the 70's- they've improved -my finger isn't blue :)

It's true that, when you are in the middle of a draw, there's always a moment when you think that's rubbish, but if you go on, you finally get the reward.

Just discovered your channel and what a delight it is! Your laid back, clear teaching is so encouraging for a beginner like me. (I'm familiar with digital design, but "real life", no-undo-button projects seem scary as hell.) Plus, I love your work. It's exactly the style I'd like to have someday... Immediate, vivid, fresh and, above all, human. (What's the point in photo-realistic art when cameras are everywhere? I want art which is someone's unique, creative take on life... BTW - if I see another blue, bendy-limbed, Corporate BlandFigure™ I'll fry and eat my own eyeballs.) So, thank you!

Thank you. You and Koosje (sp?) are two of my favorite sketch artists, and you both use a Lamy Safari. I'm finally ready to draw often enough to get one and not let the ink dry out in it. :)

Do you need to clean your pen with something special if you’re using waterproof ink?
@TobySketchLoose Жыл бұрын
No, in truth I never clean my pens... I haven't yet had a problem, but you are supposed to occasionally rinse them through
