Hey! :) I am from Hungary and I am also considering applying for a MA International Relations at UIBE. Did you apply for the scholarship through the Uni or an embassy? Also, how challenging did you find studying in Chinese? What level of Chinese did you speak prior to starting your MA? :)

Good luck with your studies. What is the title of your thesis? On the map UIBE is at the Fourth Ring District of Beijing, not too far from the other two famous universities: Beijing & Tsinghua. Do UIBE students have access to these two old campuses?
@EnricoCordes Жыл бұрын
The title is 一带一路背景下欧盟对中国农产品出口影响因素---基于铁路运输的技能. The main finding is, that in general the railway doesn't support agricultural export from the EU to China, but for eastern European and landlocked countries it does have a positive significant impact. Ehm I haven't yet tried to get in these other universities. It should be possible, if you know someone from there.

I am considering to study masters in Uibe next year majoring in Finance and Investment. Do you know anything about this program and would you recommend to study at uibe overall?. I will try to get a scholarship with my Ielts but I think it would be near to impossible without HSK3-4 so the tuition fee would cost me 6800 per year and another 1000-1200 for dormitory and other needs. So it would cost me around 8000 per year and 16000 to fnish. Do you think it is still worthwhile considering these cost or would you recommend me to look elsewhere? I have no chinese skills at the moment but I also consider to sturdy when I will be in China and bring it to HSK3-4.

Do you recommend Uibe university to foreigners? Do you have any recommendations? I would like to apply for MA in International Relations. Thank you in advance!
@EnricoCordes Жыл бұрын
Indeed, I can recommend UIBE. I think my master's degree International Trade 国际贸易 was worth studying. First, because I studied it in Chinese and it boosted my Chinese skills. Second, the profs/teachers were well informed regarding their courses e.g. logistics, finance, trade practices etc. Third, the master thesis' requirements and procedure were academical, complex and challenging. I learned a lot in these two years. However, for international relations, I can't recommend China. China is not an open country with free access to information, where free debates can happen and where ideas can cross borders freely. I hardly doubt that you will have open debates or critical thinking regarding international relations which go in depth. Personally, I think trade and finace etc. these courses make sense to study in China, but for politics and international relations I would choose Europe, Singapore, Malaysia, or the United States, countries which, frankly, are more international. China is still very much homogenous and guided by whatever the central government thinks is right. But if you are interested in Chinese diplomacy and Chinese global initiatives (for instance BRI) then studying International Relations in China can be interesting. I hope that helped.

@EnricoCordes Жыл бұрын

Hey, I am planning to apply for a non degree program to study Chinese first then continue my masters and I came across UIBE, I just wanna ask that if its open or not ? I will contact the university but I just want to know from someone that is already there, so your reply would be much appreciate, plus judging from the way you look and talk, I can tell you’re German and you listen to metal music ? My German friends tell me that metal is big in Germany
@EnricoCordes Жыл бұрын
Honestly, for studying Chinese I wouldn't choose UIBE and also not Beijing. I would go to a place with less foreigners and less international students. :D Then it is easier to find Chinese friends and do stuff with them. For a degree program I can recommend UIBE. What do you mean with is it open exactly? It is physically more or less open, you can enter and exit the campus after fetching a piece of paper you need to show to the guards at the gates... For studying Chinese I can recommend Guangxi University actually. Or other cities in South China, I deem the south to be more fun and interesting. I had a splendid time there. Yes, there is metal in Germany, but I am not so familiar to it haha

@@EnricoCordes for a moment I thought you were a metalhead because of your style and your hair hahaha, What I meant by open is that is it open for students to apply for a non degree in Chinese language since the covid ban was recently removed and everything went back to normal ? so I thought they might need time, I honestly just found that UIBE is cheaper compared to other universities in China which was a bit surprising considering its a good university and its in Beijing, I want cheap universities as much as much possible cause I don’t have many resources, I only have enough to study Chinese for a year and continue my master’s, another question is it possible to find a job, I mean have you tried or are you not planning to ?

@@griefoflinkocarinaofmajora5159 China is completely open again, also for tourists. So you can apply and start basically everywhere in China. You can check out various scholarship possibilities.
