My parents came to this country with little or no English and no money (well a little).. They found it difficult but worked hard despite the racism and few opportunities. They worked for themselves and set up their own business and did ok. They encouraged us to study and work hard. As a result we contribute to the economy. If you listen to what most people are saying, they're annoyed at the government, not immigrants. Most seem to agree that immigration is an ok thing as long as it's kept under control, is done legally and integration is ensured to avoid cultural conflicts. You may disagree with these points and thats fine but dismissing them offhand as "far-right" or "racist" is extremely ignorant. I think the violence and vandalism we saw in the riots was unjustified but the anger driving a lot of these people is understandable. You ignore people for long enough, they're going to look for more extreme ways to be heard.
