Such an amazing building system for an early acces. I spent about the 5-6 first hours to do barely nothing rather than awake the smith and then building and rebuilding my first base. With those tips of yours i might be spending the next couple hours just building again lol

I did that as well. I build an entire village - each of the NPCs as well as my character have their own house. I also built a warehouse and a town hall. Adds a nice touch to the base when it is not just one huge structure but gives that settlement village feeling.

depends on what you are going for, if you want a more historical accurate build that any European commoner would have lived, the simpler structure is the way to go, as a laymen wouldn't afford the time or funds to be decorative in more than a small trinkets. Ultimately it is up to you what kind style you want to go for, and what materials you want to use to achieve that style.

This game has a lot to offer right off the bat. I know certain players like to "achieve" a home base before venturing out into this vast world. The build you offer is a great example for a starter build that leaves a player open for their creativity. When I started I only used two types of material blocks but I see here within probably the first hour you had SIX. Keep up the awesome work.

I like to make my roofs with 2 layers. The under interior lauer being plant fiber, and the exterior layer being a different roof blook. The plant fiber roof seen from the interior looks real cozy.

I placed a mycelium block and I instantly hated it. I placed a bone block next to it and then it felt like it fit. So I made a gazebo for the alchemist out of those. The 1m section has a sloped shape which will let you add/remove roof parts much in the same was as the cube for regular walls and floors. Y key will undo the last few build actions, really useful when fiddling with details or trying to get a roof sitting right

Yeah I use "Y" a lot but it only holds the most recent 5 actions. I used the 1 block sloped roof in our most recent video. It definitely is quite useful.

If you want flowerbed ground you can get it from the farm west of the first spire. go up to the chirch yard. it is the grassy ground with flowers. not all ground is dirt :) mix that with the cool buildings :)

I don't understand how to did the alter thing. How do you raise and lower foundations? Where did the massive 4x4 pit go that the alter creates?

If you take snap off (press x) you can aim up to make the foundation higher. Then connect your new altar to that foundation. The pit is created when the 4x4 foundation is removed but filled in with new foundation pieces :) Of course you can always fill it in with dirt as well!

Yeah, either there is a small gap between the wall and the roof, or you have that protrusion. I usually choose the former option as the gap isn't so bad. Basically shift the stepped wall over 1 block away from the sloped roof.

You can get Flintstone also at the destroyed brigde. There are tents on the right side and behind them is a hill with flintstone. Honey you shouldn´t eat early on, since its used in the big Healing potions recipe. Gather honey as soon as possible and stash it away. Another tip: its not building releated but if you later need salt. You can find that on the right side of the Starter Miasma. Easy to glide to right from base spot.

Go to the altar, and click on "Extinguish Flame". A red "Extinguish Flame" button will appear, click that and a 30 second timer will start. During the 30 seconds, you have the choice to cancel the action. Once the timer is up, the altar is removed.

Unfortunately you don't get it back. Luckily, shroud cores are craftable so losing a single one isn't so bad. A higher level altar would definitely be more painful to replace. Which is why I'd get it into the exact position right at the start.

Why not use the preassembled roof ridge pieces the game provides you with? They are right there in your hotbar.. They are much easier to use than trying to fumble two sides into meeting at the correct hight.

Foundations are way too expensive. Just place a ceiling and cover the sides with 2m walls. You will save A TON of mats by the end of your project.

Roofs are a bit finnicky but if you get on top and place the roofs from up above or on the outside, it is much easier :)

Are you sure you are using the shroud wood? Make sure that once you craft the blocks, they are selected by using ctrl + mouse wheel.

building the roof is such an pain .... but lucky me, i finished one half, took me an hour .... so i give up

It gets a lot easier with some practice. And I've found it can be easier by elevating yourself and placing the roof pieces downward.

You don't need to jump to place build objects, just hold Q + mouse wheel

Yeah I know but i feel it is too finicky for my tastes. I use it sometimes but mostly I'll try to position myself using temporarily placed platforms

7:22 it would be easier to use 7th shape and turnoff snapping.
