True, always easier said than done. We can all make a few cut backs but cutting cable won't get us to a $250K 5mpg rig and not have to work half the year. In the end I guess it's what you value the most in life.

Croaker actually cutting out a 120 monthly cable, bringing your lunch to work saving 10 per day or 220 per month, sharing a car thus saving $700 per month cutting out 300 per month in entertainment and dinning out and a few other things totals 1500 per month. Or 18k a year invested at 6% is more then 250k in a decade. So there you go now you have a plan. :)

Uh, no...people who say all you gotta do is "save" aren't being honest -- the lady alluded to being fortunate very quickly in passing. The wealthy do not simply "save"...even long-term CD rates barely keep up with inflation; despite the man talking about saving, the percentages he cited refer to investments, which are much, much trickier. And oh yeah, BTW, a recession's coming -- though good luck timing it!!

I drove this truck (LMTV) across Iraq and Kuwait during my deployment. I served in the U.S. Army. I remember telling myself that I MUST have one of these trucks when I get back to the states. It was a pleasure to drive and has more that enough power to do just about anything you ask of it. They are easy to drive, maintain and operate. Do you have the operator and maintenance manuals for it? If not, send me a message and I will point you guys in the right direction so you can obtain them. My job in the military was to maintain these vehicles and much larger ones. Thanks for sharing this video. You just reignited my flame to build one. Good luck to you both and God bless. Happy trails!

Love this couple. I really liked how they shared that about living simply and travel versus stability and routine. I like the name adventure vehicle, great name because can't really call it a Skoolie, or call them Vandwellers. Their adventure vehicle has such a nice design. Also everything in it looks high quality, practical and useable. Their layout is simple, but has what most people want, a bed, bath, kitchen, washer/dryer, and place to sit / eat / use a laptop.

7:45 great advice. This is what I live by. You are born, grow up, live, and die in the same city. Who the heck wants to do that? I can't believe my Mom or my Dad come home from work and just want to stay home. After work, I go for a drive, I explore, do things, etc. I will not be the person that lives and dies in one city. I want to see everything this world has to offer, and it's 100% achievable.

the problem with ex military vehicles is that although they might seem cheap they're expensive in the long run simply because they're not focused on fuel economy! you save money up front but you quickly burn them at the pump... a commercial vehicle needs to be very fuel efficient or else the company goes or of business fast therefore an ex commercial vehicle is always a better choice..
@martinburzynski9657
@martinburzynski9657 7 жыл бұрын
SquirrelFromGradLife actually you are incorrect. Equivalent commercial vehicles of the same size and specs get identical milage for example Unimog, MAN and Mercedes Zetros. The difference is all new commercial vehicles need ULSD which is only available in US/Canada so you need a multi-fuel engine which can burn HSD. So you either have to buy a US pre 2006 vehicle or a Euro 3 standard vehicle or military.
@Dovenpeis

Except that a commercial vehicle do not perform very well off-road, unlike a military vehicle. And from the looks of these people's travel needs, off-road performance is key.

Crazy how much has changed in 4 years. Now there are several builders of these vehicles. Most are not in the U.S.A. The reason the govt sells the vehicles so cheap is that they have been fully depreciated on the books and they just need to get rid of them. Great words of inspiration at the end. :)

The opportunities to make a living are as abundant as ever in the 21st century, I recommend looking beyond what the system already offers and get creative with how you want to make a living. What we need to understand is that opportunities to make money are always changing and that some jobs that were previously in demand are no longer in demand. skillcrush.com/ www.springboard.com/ dreamandhustle.com/2012/07/pursuing-stem-based-hustles-is-actually-the-fun-stuff-that-will-set-you-free/ www.udacity.com/ www.udemy.com/courses/ 100startup.com/

you could easily do what i plan on doing. next year i graduate and i'll be able to work through medtravelers. work temporary 13-40 week jobs while living in an rv/tiny house. they pay you and often offer other accommodations as well. go from one job to the next. make your dreams a reality dude.

I'm 15 and when I turn 16 me and my friend are both getting jobs and saving till senior year at the end of it and I've done some math and if we do that we'd have about 57k but maybe less cause of tax and we'd probably spend it on some other random things. But ya I'm pretty happy I found out about the van life before I got a little older.

Two well-spoken advocates for this type of lifestyle. My wife and I traveled full time for 2 yrs before we needed to come off the road to care for her mom. I'm hoping to get back out there again. I hate sitting idle. There's so much freedom in the wandering, nomadic way of living.

I think this lifestyle is for rare breeds. I’m 💯 for the mystery of it. Minimalists have no fear of losing things because they don’t need/have a lot. I’ve learned that recently that being a minimalist is very freeing.

If you want it bad enough you'll make it happen, plenty of videos on youtube of people living in a VW bus with 2 dogs, their vehicle is more than enough to have a child or pet, even both. Like I said if you want it enough you'll make it happen, if not you'll continue to watch youtube videos of people achieving the dream you had
