I made passenger briefing cards for my plane. When flying with new (inexperienced) people, I have them look at/read it while I am starting up and getting things setup. This takes care of 75% of it.

that's very clever! better use of your time too, and can include visuals. I just always felt like - if it came from me, it was personal and I could get a read of the passengers... many of them come with just a little reservation about what is going to happen.
