Genius design with the motherboard, putting the pcie slot on the side.
@Casper0423 жыл бұрын
Probably not what they used here, but PicoBTX is roughly the same design but the x16 slot would be vertical and you'd need a mini riser. BTX in general has always had the IO slots on the opposite side of the IO shield compared to ATX.

I'm really tempted to get one of these and I seriously don't even need it for any reason. (It might replace my secondary desktop computer... It is more powerful than that. 🤔) Perhaps a media PC connected to the TV? An emulation rig? Console-killer? It's a versatile and compact system, don't get me wrong, but I just can't figure out what I would do with this - that I don't already have something for... and yet I still want it. I'm already kind of a computer hoarder. I'm trying to be less of one. This channel just increases my addiction's hold on me. 🤣 I think at the moment I have something like 35-40 computers, for anyone wondering. (That's in a household with a grand total of 1 person!) 🤣 Some of those are retro platforms, some are quirky little project computers and things that I experiment on. Some are things that I've bought to support projects, which I should make more use of. Within a 10ft radius, I'm counting... 15 machines. I think I need a 12-step program or something. 🤣

This build is very, very interesting! Thank you for showing +ETA PRIME ! Especially a case like this would look amazing on a desk ... I wonder if there are cases with standard IO shields also available somewhere. *For gaming itself I would rather stick to a XBox Series S these days!* I'm not a console person but the price-performance ratio is simply unbeatable. For more than half the price of that Mini PC you get the same performance (1080p 60fps) + Raytracing (more often), one of this 512 nvMe SSD, a compact case plus amazing emulation and backward compatibility performance ... so these days that's hard to beat with a small PC. ATV Reflex(dealers choice not PSP), Test Drive: Eve of Destruction(PS2), Big Muther Truckers series(game and console dealers choice) and this one is totally for me, PS2's IHRA Drag Racing 2 it's a little bit involved to set up for the first time(controller wise), but if done right is the best Drag racing simulator for the retro market.

Interesting: I've seen this side-by-side itx case style a lot from Silverstone and Fractal Design and if you want an HDPlex style PSU also from Not-from-concentrate but the gpu compartment is usually made to accomodate at least a standard height gpu or even slightly above that, making it half height does reduce the footprint significantly. It's a shame that half-height GPUs are not more popular since I could easily see something as powerful as a 3060 or 3060ti being sufficiently cooled by a half height form factor if done right.
