A normal Audi RS6 is a VERY fast car. When you tune one to 750bhp and 1057nM the result is simply staggering and when it has a titanium Akrapovic exhaust the soundtrack is next level too.

God I wish I could have gotten one of these in the US. I ended up with a CTS-V wagon - which now makes 800whp, or 950bhp thereabouts. But with only RWD, it's a handful! The Audi with AWD would be so much more usable. I'm not a huge fan of loud exhausts - but I do love a good sporty one. This one seems fairly good, although I might tone it down a bit. But can't complain! My wife has an Audi with a tune and pulley swap - the supercharged 3.0 liter engine. Its impressive how well the turbo Audi's response to tuning. I love that Audi generally overbuilds the cars so they can take a ton more power without substantial beefing up. I bought the CTS-V for exactly that reason - guys run 1200whp, or close to 1400bhp on the stock transmission, driveline, rear end, and axles. All that thru only two wheels. My wife's Audi could make more - but it would mean nixing the cats and a large increase in expense. But that 3.0 liter even in stock form can pump out a ton of power. Great review, and wonderful car. Looks beautiful too.

Petrol Ped Not too bad. I run Sport Cup 2 track tires for daily use and they hold up surprisingly well. Also, I live in Houston, Texas and the roads here are almost exclusively concrete with what's called a "broom finish". So the road surface is like 50 grit sandpaper - way more grip than tarmac/asphalt. And while you might think that would be harder in tires, its actually better. The tires almost never slip, so there is very little abrasion. I get 20,000 miles (40k+ kms) from a set. Good thing - they are about $2500 USD per set!

I can appreciate your reaction. Been an Audi man for over 30 yrs, you love them or hate them. Current car SQ5 which is a great workhorse but still an enjoyable drive. OMG ! The torque definitely delivers & regardless of how noisy the exhaust is, I think I could live with that. It’s like a Gatling gun on steroids. I’m smitten, externally it’s relatively understated, the wheels (okay maybe they stick out a bit) against the subtle paint colour, look great. Goes without saying, a massive thanks to Jamie for allowing you to play with his car. Who’s a lucky chap then? I would love to see it on a track, something for the weekend in the future ? Bl**dy brilliant and that’s coming from someone who hasn’t been a big fan of Audi in the past, my appreciation has now taken a change to a more positive opinion. Absolutely love this one. Jamie - it does have a mode which cuts to 4 cylinders, it also makes it a lot more quiet. It would be a perfect daily drive, apart from copious amounts of fuel you will have to buy.

Great video. These estate cars ain’t messing around. My mate had a Mercedes E63 AMG at the weekend for extended test drive and that was 0-60 in 3.5 seconds for a car that weighs nearly 2 tons. Been in some fast motors but it was rollercoaster fast.

Fantastic sound from the Akrapovic exhaust. Great review as always Pete. Although the RS would benefit from better tyres - loose the Continetals & replace with Michelin Pilot Sport 4's Only other thing that would look better would be Black emblems front & rear ;-)

Miltek do sound good on RS 6's - I had Miltek system on a C5 RS 6 I had 10 years ago. But there are two problems with Miltek. 1. They are not Audi approved & will affect the warranty on the car. 2. The quality of the Miltek is now where near as good as the Akrapovic - Stainless steel Vs Titanium.

Petrol Ped that's impossible to tell I'm afraid....i have designed engine's for 38 years and when a engine has been designed it will be thoutherly tested for thousands of hours before it's sold to the consumer....the engine has not been tested with that much extra power going through it.....ask a submarine captain how deep he can take his submarine....he doesn't know until it cracks.....same with this cars engine....one things for sure the engine's life has been shortened with that extra power.....good luck

I know what that feels like. Same power and torque as my R33 GTR. I get out of that with jelly legs! But my GTR does have a cryo-treated gear set. As someone said below. How long will the gearbox last in this RS6? Lovely car though.

Yes, the Akrapovic is one of Audi’s official performance parts, which won’t effect your warranty. But they do put a high price on it

Launch control doesnt do them justice (coming from a stage 2 rs7 owner) they spin with launch control, hold brake, rev to 2600rpm and let brake up launching is 3000rpm which is too much

Some people suggest the left foot brake method is 'launch control', even if that isn't technically launch control. That is what I was referring to but thanks for correcting me :-)

Launch control isnt the fastest way to get them going, it causes spin especially to a mapped one, i have a stage 2 apr rs7, foot on the brake take it to 2600rpm much better than launch control

Yes, I guess it must be the ecu tune. I have a '16 RS6 performance and it never has spin in launch control and takes off from 0 considerably faster.

Mr. McGinestein i take it yours is standard? Mine used to launch no problem when standard, but i have apr stage 2 running 700.2bhp and 1156NM tuned by ecotune in scotland it was a fantastic torque figure it got, but spins now if taking off with rpm too high

Those numbers sound pretty crazy. Yes, mine is completely stock. I hear the performance dynos quite a bit higher than factory numbers and overall I'm more than happy with the performance, but I can't say that I haven't looked into ecu tuning it. Haven't pulled the trigger yet because I'm not sure if I need it, if I want the decrease in fuel efficiency and the additional depreciation. What year is your RS7 and have you done any exhaust modifications?
