Idk, i don‘t think it‘s a good value where I live. It costs 20€. The same as the W217 or the F105, both have a much better backlight. When I the say the same I mean all 3 watches are less than 2€ apart. If It‘d cost 10€, I‘d agree, but maybe it‘s because it‘s popularity has driven up the price, and it could be totally different in the US, but in europe It‘s not a good deal anymore compared to casios other watches.

Everyone most likely has a different idea of what their beater watch is. I spent my life running restaurants and towards the end I gravitated towards Luminox watches as my daily beater. They’re not crazy expensive, they’re accurate, and could take the beating that my chosen field provided. Now that I’m retired my daily wearer ( I don’t beat it up so much now! ) is a Longines Skin Diver on a textile strap. I can play sports and obviously swim with this watch on and I just love wearing it. I’m fortunate to have a couple of nicer watches to wear “out.”

It's large, extremely readable, has mostly brushed finishing, a sapphire crystal, all night lume, solar, 200m WR, and radio sync. The bracelet was heavy so I put it on a Marine Nationale type elastic strap to lower the weight on the wrist. It has received quite a few whacks and hit a door frame or two, but it still looks fine.

Going to catch flak for this one, but my Speedmaster is my daily “beater”. It was a gift from my wife and I wear it most days of the week. I don’t baby it, I’ve broken a pusher (fixed), and I have no intention of ever re-polishing it. I love the patina it has developed. It is a tool watch after all. I do have a Seiko Turtle for beach/pool/actual diving, which also acts as a beater. Especially when I travel to areas where wearing an expensive watch would be poor judgement. These watches mean I can baby some of my more precious watches and bring them out for special occasions.

NH-38 keeps on going, sapphire crystal, DLC coating is far more scratch resistant than bare steel or standard PVD coating, and most importantly, the steel case is more chemical resistant than Casio resin and rubber. I say most important because this ISL-82 was my daily wear when I was an automotive technician, and after some regulation, had that thing ticking within seconds per week when tuned to my then weekly routine.

To my mind a beater watch needs to be all metal on a metal bracelet. Since you don’t want to be messing with the watch, solar power and radio time synchronisation are preferable. So anything from Casio that meets those requirements will probably fit the bill. Titanium is great for lightness and will scratch pretty readily, so your beater watch will look battle scarred pretty quickly and you really won’t care any more so long as it just keeps on telling the time.

Good video! Plenty of great options. I am surprised that Casio MDV106, a.k.a. "Duro" was not mentioned although you only include so many. A Casio Edifice chronograph, model EFR519 is my primary beater. Only paid about $15 for it and have gotten my money's worth.

I use my GA 2000 as my beater, looks cool, it’s rugged and 200m water resistant and very comfy to wear. And although not having a sapphire glass, it doesn’t have a single sractch, despite getting a good beating every now and then. I just love it ❤

Hello and thanks for this video. I had two beaters, one from Japan, an Orient Kamasu, which is a tank. Not a Cartier one, obviously, but it's a real GADA watch. 👍 The 2nd one from China. It was a Sea-Gull's 1963 chrono. Not so beater as the crown died ... 😢

My good beater is is strange micro I bought years ago. 1000m ETA auto but no dive bezel, untreated 316l that scratches easily but just makes it look like a beater. Heavy,, tough n rough and just feels unstoppable. Got an old GShock and a 100m Citizen EcoDrive that are loved but not special enough to be upset about damage

(looks at current nine-watch rotation) Well, next to none of my watches are *so* precious that I wouldn't wear them doing somewhat rough-n-tumble stuff, but it's on a sliding scale: the two watches that are general all-purpose beaters are my Casio Pro-Trek 330-series digital, which I'd say is my one "all-conditions" watch, and has the battle scars to prove it. I'd say the one proviso of a true beater is its self-sustainability: as my Pro-Trek is solar-powered, as well as possessing 100m WR, I'd say it fits the bill rather well. The other watch is a 90s-era Seiko SUS quartz-analog chronograph. No, it's long out of production, but it's hardly impossibly to find a replacement via the usual suspects. It also helps that it's construction, plus its second-hand status, means that not only has it already taking a few bumps already (obviating the "first scratch hurts the most" experience), but it's actually built to take a few knocks and keep on rockin'. The long-and-shor o this is that a "beater" is basically what you make it: a $7k-plus Rolex Sub or $20 Casio can do the trick, depending on your mindset…particularly if either one is your sole timepiece!

My Citizen Promaster Solar Diver in blue is my beater. I'm a shirt and tie guy by day, so I change my watch everyday. But when I get home and weekends, my Promaster Solar on a bluse Zulu strap is my daily wear. I'm in SoFlo and water is part of our daily lives ,so my Citizen is the one.😉👍🏼

Citizen makes good beater watches, because they have the eco-drive. Being quartz you don’t have to set it and you don’t have to worry about banging it around. And for me, one of the most important things is sapphire glass, so I don’t worry about scratches on the crystal.

I have a daily beater in my gmw-5000D. I love the scratches it takes. I urge you to wear yours more!

Metal gshocks, and i personally think up to a standard edition oris sports/diver are well within beater status. Mostly because i am happy for scratches and dings (as long as theres no notable scratches on the crystal)

Vostok. I've got a few $50 hand wind mechanicals. They look cool as well. Everyone likes the Amphibia, but the Komandirskie is classier.

Well said once again Russ. Love the iconic F91w, but just don’t like the function of the three button Casios. Love my Casio W800h, and Gshock 5610 that get used most often to keep the snowflake ready for official events.

This video really encouraged me. I’ve sold all my watch except my G-shock (for reasons) and I’ve been kinda down about it. But HEY! The g-shock does a fantastic job!

I use my Invicta Diver daily. But I would also put the Citizen Promaster Tough SUPER TITANIUM™ as a perfect beater! It’s light, resistant, affordable ish, and cool!

I have a lot of beaters lol I have like 10 year old timex I still have but rock more when it’s tougher scenarios. I agree with the dong do vintage. But I have a couple cheap vintage watches that when I bought em they were already scratched to bits. I think I’m comfy wearing em as a beater as the whole do I care if it gets scratched isn’t there. I think there’s levels within beaters like g shock for super tough then everyday tough 😂😂 for the vintage pieces or a diver

I put my Casio ae1200 in one of those SKXMOD's and it went from beater watch to invincible watch. That upgrade came with a high price but I think it was worth it. I only had to sell the dog and the second born. Kept the first born and the cat so... I'm good... 😂
