Love my Duro, it's been a daily for over 3yrs. I'm VERY hard on watches, have NO scratches on the crystal. Although I bang mine almost daily on metal monos and shelving, and the mineral crystal is just fine. A few scratches and a little ding on the aluminum insert, with minimal scratching on the case(not really noticeable). I've spent more on straps then on the watch and Love it... Spends most of its time on a StrapCode 22mm Super-J Louis JUB Watch Band Straight End, 316L Stainless Steel Solid V-Clasp Button Double Lock.

The U version was the real icing on the cake! Date the right way around and running time whilst using other functions. Plus the led will last way longer than the previous form of backlight. I still run a DW-5200 G that I bought in 1984……coming up for its 40th anniversary in October!

Totally agree with the Orient Ray 2. That was my first dive watch, wanted to try out a nice chunky diver and see how I like them. Turns out I really like them! The bracelet and clast isn't great, but after replacing it with a MiLTAT bracelet with solid endlinks and milled clasp, that problem is solved. Bezel doesn't off much grip though, too polished. So probably going to replace that at some point, but no rush there.

For around the same price you can get the SNKL23 (or SNKL15 for the white dial). Good choices, the Armitron is great apart from the back light, but wears very small. I like my 1953 a lot, but I'm not sure the G-Shock 5610 is worth £90 when the 5600 is only £50 and it has the advantage of showing the time when using the timer and stopwatch.

That Lorus looks sweet. I love this brand, my father started my watch journey by tricking me into thinking about it, seeing it first in an old shop with all that build up and excitment, to learn to give time before a purchase, see if sticks in the mind, and we went back together for it and he actually bought it for me :) He had Cartier, Omega and so on but wanted me not to be careless about my money and to learn that patience is a key component to pleasure. And I still got it!

The Q Timex definitely looks good. I have it, and it's a nice summer watch, but it has two problems. #1: the minute and second hand are not hitting the marks properly (my Casio Edifice does that perfectly for the same price), so when it shows 60 seconds the minute hand can be right between two markers, and Timex allows that in the manual. There's no way to fix that. I wish they used a slightly better movement. #2: the bracelet is a hair puller, especially when it's new and stiff, though it gets a little better over time.

The Orient Ray 2 was my first mechanical watch. It was a great looking watch. But there were two things about it that I hated - the bezel and the crown. Bezel was tight and stingy. And the crown was teeny. The next watch I went to was a Seiko 5kx. What a difference in both the bezel and crown.

The caliber Y676 movement in that Lorus is actually a Seiko movement rather than being based on one. 😊 It comes from the Seiko Instruments Inc (SII) arm of the corporation that sells movements to third party manufacturers. Just like the NH36 is SII's designation for the relabeled 4r36 they're selling to other companies the Y676 was the designation used for the 7s26 in their own sub-brands that offer/offered mechanical options.... Lorus, Alba, J Springs... Great recommendations to get a freshly-minted watch enthusiast started on their collecting journey for cheap! Bangers, all. Top shelf stuff. 💪
