I suppose everyone is different and it can change with experience, but I only use one hand unless the pan is very heavy, I find it awkward to use two. I also only use the pan riffles for the first wash, after that I go to the smooth side. I know this takes a lot of practice and you need to have a lot of control of what you wash out, and I do the wash of material coming out the front with a side to side motion without allowing anything from the bottom of the pan to move. With so much practice it comes easily and I have tested everything that washes out, and I don’t lose anything.

I have always been a Garrett super sluice fan but since my eyesight has changed with older age i picked up an XP snakeskin 15 inch blue pan and i really like that pan, the more and more i use it the less im using the garrett i still usually use my Garrett for the first pan of the day but quickly revert to the Xp the rest of the time because its a lighter pan and the blue makes the gold stand out better at least for me out in the feild. At home i use green or black, weird i know lol.

I figured if I was thorough enough, I could take a few shovels of dirt from my backyard and work them down to see if I could find some microscopic specks of gold. Just to practice panning before I actually get out there. I saw a lot of microscopic sparkly stuff but it's so small I have no idea whether it's gold or just tiny minerals lustering while wet under light. I think I might have a few more runs even if I don't find a spec of gold just to get the technique down. I always thought panning was easy but swirling that pan around and having the material move how you want it to really is tricky hehe.

It's a great guide if all the steps are done up to the panning off of the material it's pretty hard to lose gold panning even when your being fast ( Dan done a test on his panning and he did a bad panning pan and he still didn't lose the gold ) but it's better to work on the creek for sure and do the refining at home

Weirdly unskilled and skilled at the same time... I'm not a gold panner and am trying to learn. I do however have a lot of equipment because I'm recovering gold from electrical components. I think that panning properly will help immensely. At the moment I just get my gold, smelt, cut the gold off the smelt, re smelt, repeat until you have nice gold. I've been classifying and winnowing the residue and recovering more gold.. I definitely want to compare winnowing to panning

Every creek has its own types of gravel/clay/bedrock and sizes of gold, I learned on a fly poop area spending the whole week panning buckets that I dug, I then went to a chunky creek with that same panning method. I was quickly told by the old timers that I was ‘panning so dainty’ and I could get a bit more aggressive with it. Some creeks I’ve panned in were like kids play sand, no indicator minerals, gold is the indicator haha, when I found that out I was able to smash the pans out

Good video mr vogus. Please use my technique. Is much better with those cheat pans. Make a whirlpool in the pan but be careful to keep the "eye" of the whirlpool a little ahead of the sides of the pan. All the concentrates and heavies come to the centre. The other shit goes over the side as you control the whirlpool. Also I like your technique too because I am a noob like you were one time.

So stop being lazy DO YOUR RESEARCH, and enjoy the fruits of the knowledge you’ve gained by not taking the easy way out. Everything you need is in his posted content.
